Yup. Agreed. I wanted to get the stats for 3rd down % converted on passing plays (as opposed to a failed run attempt) and the red zone scoring for passing (as opposed to a rushing td). But i couldnt find them. -
Taylor vs Gabbert stats this year
bobobonators replied to Lothar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wtf are people drinking up there in buffalo?!? You realize that through a sample size of just five games Gabbert has 4 MORE INT'S and 1 LESS TD with almost the same attempts. Not a season. 5 games. Imagine TT throwing 4 more INTs at this point and one less TD. What do you think our record would be? But sure other than that little fact, their numbers are pretty similar. COME. ON. MAN! -

1. We are tied for 14th in TD. 2. We are 25th in yards/attempt. 3. We are 21st in completion %. 4. We are tied for 5th for fewest INT 5. We are 9th for red zone scoring (td only) 6. We are 26th in 3rd down conversions. 7. We are 7th in total QBR. We are last in yards bc we have the fewest attempts. Simple math. Room for improvement? Sure. We just changed coordinators and we are down our best WR. -
Yes they do. A big boost. This offense was designed to be run first with an occasional big play in the passing game. Watkins provided that big play ability. Over the course of an entire season we're going to feel it. Unfortunately, i dont think the solution will be found during the seasom from the outside. Powell, Goodwin, and woods are going to have to step up. And TT is going to have to build chemistry with them on the deep ball. Who knows about Hunter. I hope, but im objective. We need a WR in the draft or in FA. Badly. Who knows if watkins will ever be the same.

Where is FireRex and his constituents??

They moved to the "we need to get rid of TT and get a 'franchise QB' ". Fire everyone. Always something. 🙄 -
3-2 but Tyrod has had 4 bad games this season

I like TT as our starter and for this current team. But i do agree that the best time to look for anything is when you already have it. Of course, the only exception being your wife. Hahah 😁 -

People keep bringing up how we rank dead last in passing. Questions: 1. Where would you expect a team to rank when you have the fewest pass attempts in the NFL (counting teams who have played all 5 games). a. And why do we have the fewest passing attempts? Bc - listen in - WE ARE REALLY GOOD AT RUNNING THE BALL. Our HC loves to run the ball. Our offensive coordinator is a former running back. Our GM was a defensive player in college. There is nothing about this entire regime, from top to bottom, that screams: lets air it out 40x a game. 2. Do we rank dead last in yards per attempt? 3. Do we rank dead last in passing td? 4. Do we rank dead last in completion %? 5. Do we rank dead last in red zone scoring % ? 6. Do we rank dead last in 3rd down conversions? 7. Do we rank dead last in turnovers? No. The "last in passing" theme is simply idiotic. There are areas we need to improve withing the passing game overall, but that argument is weak. -

TT has also been the QB when the Bills score 25 or more points 3x and still lose. 2 of those 3 losses bills scored more than 30 or more. Isnt it the norm that when any teams defense has an "off day" you likely lose? If the league avg is 22.8 in scoring and your defense gives up more than 22.8, odds are not in your favor to win. Your numbers say that. So whats the surprise? -

Shady's fumble in the red zone mustve helped us then with that logic. The chiefs game is the only game where TT has started amd the bills had a lead at halftime and lost. The only game out of 19. Someone shoulda told TT and watkins when they were lighting up the field not to score yet. Dont score! Bobby wont like it. -

Lmfao. So you want him to put up 500yds passing and 6td vs the chiefs in arrowhead.?!?!? Im using the ignore button for the first time ever on this board with you. Congratulations. -

I get what you're saying. Anyone and everyone can and should continue to improve, especially TT. My main gripe is people claiming that he is not a "franchise" qb (whatever that really means) and we need to find a replacement. To that all i have to say is at least give him the season before one makes that determination. Because it has been a season and a half for him and he does have a winning record. A Buffalo QB has a winning record over 19 games and 2 offensive coordinators. -

He'll change his username. They all will. Its sad when you root for a team and you get happy when a Bills player has a down game just so you can run to TSW and say how right you were. They get more joy in being "right" than they do in watching the bills win 3 in a row. -

The Seattle Seahawks finished 26th or 27th in passing 3 years between 2012-2014. Look how that turned out for them. Their highest rank was last year when they finished 20th in passing. And it was their worst yr in the Wilson era. Not saying we are as good as seattle. But our philosophy is similar. Yes we need to be more consistent in 3rd downs. TT Hhas played a season and a half basically. He has won. Hes on his 2nd coordinator. Lets see how the season plays out. -

I can make things sound fancy too: Tyrod has not lost a game where he has a lead going into the 4 quarter. Tyrod has lost 1 game in 19 starts where the bills have the lead at halftime (vs the chiefs last season). 11-8 as the Bills starter. Winning football. -

Rex was hired as a HC and knowingly brought Roman here just b/c we had EJ and TT here? ok...not b/c that's the STYLE OF FOOTBALL he likes? Roman was one of Rex's first hires. Tell me, who did Rex and co. draft the first year he was here? Exactly. And who did they draft this past year? Exactly. Smash mouth, defensive football. That's what they drafted. Where is your gunslinger QB that Rex so desperately wants and needs? Fact is this regime has had more than one opportunity to go out there and draft a QB and turn this offense into a passing attack - they haven't. Rex and this regime hitched their ride to TT for a reason. The fact that you can't understand the basic tenet behind Rex's coaching philosophy after all these years is disturbing. You seem to live in a fantasy world where Matt Ryan, Rivers, and Brees are going to super bowls every season on the backs of their 450yd passing performances. They're not. I know what a good QB looks like, but more importantly, I also know what a good team looks like. We have a philosophy in place, which is more than can be said for the majority of teams around the league, and that philosophy doesn't involve airing it out. Come to grips with it, for better or worse. -

Keep telling yourself that. That's exactly what this coaching staff is known for: the aerial assault, 400yd, 45 attempt games. If Rex and this regime wanted to throw it 45 times a game, they would've gotten an offensive coordinator in here that has offensive gamelans designed to throw it 45 times a game. They would've drafted a QB to throw it 45 times a game. They would've made it their mission to get another QB in here that can just stand back there like a statue and throw it 45x's a game if that's what they truly wanted. -

bobobonators replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We were built to run b/c that was the plan all along. What's so difficult to understand about that? Rex has always been a run-heavy/defensive minded head coach. Romen was a run-oriented coach. Anthony Lynn is a former running back. In this system, the large majority of the time that's all we want. By design. Again, think of Alex Smith, but with potentially more upside b/c TT throws the deep ball better, and he's even more of a threat running the ball. Some have the act of smashing each other on top of tables during tailgate down to an art though. -

bobobonators replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are built to run the ball, play defense, control the clock, and occasionally connect for a big play on offense. If we cant run the ball bc we are getting shredded on defense we are going to lose 80% of the time probably. If we wanted to keep up with teams shredding us on defense we wouldnt have invested so much on defense. We wouldnt have a defensive coach. We wouldnt have had a run-first offensive coordinator. We wouldnt have invested so much in the running game. We wouldnt have a mobile QB. If a team is shredding the hawks on defense, can they keep up? On occassion perhaps, but thats not how theyre built to succeed. Does russel wilson need to be replaced then? When the chiefs get shredded on defense how do they look trying to throw for 400yds to keep up. Not great. Yet they still manage to have winning seasons every year. If the broncos were getting shredded on defense last yr in the super bowl how would that have turned out for them? Thats not how they were built. Lets also not forget how both games vs the pats last yr and Marsha were decided by 1 score and one of them was a shootout. This offense can put up points on occassion but yeh if we have to rely on 300-400yds passing and 50 pass attempts ala Rivers than we are going to lose the majority of time - just like Rivers loses a majority of shootouts. If thats what you want then forget complaining about TT - get rid of shady, get rid of rex, get rid of Lynn. CLEAN HOUSE. go draft your pocket passer and a couple of wr's and go knock yourself out with shooutouts. -

2015 Tyrod (2 fewer games): 3,035yds; 63.7 completion %; 8.0 yds/attempt; 20td; 6int; 568 rushing; 4td 2015 Alex Smith (full season): 3,486yds; 65.3 completion %; 7.4yds/attempt; 20td; 7int; 498 rushing; 2td Tyrod's first season starting vs. Alex's 3rd year in the same system. Bills fans constantly suffer from the grass being greener. It's sad. Oh and by the way, last season was Alex's best season statistically. So yeh, tell me exactly how Smith is BETTER than TT. -

bobobonators replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didnt specifically say that TT is better than Alex. To me they are basically the same kind of QB. Look at their numbers. My point was that Alex still managed to go 11-5. It was Ryan who specifically said that Alex is a better QB Look at their numbers last yr. In TT's first year as a starter he had more yds/attempt, the same TD's and one more INT in two fewer games than Alex. Completion % is similar. He also had more rushing yards and more rushing TD's than Alex. How many years has Alex been under the same system now? TT matched him statistically in 2 fewer games played and in his first yr starting. So how is Smith better? Maybe bc he doesnt play on the bills? -

Look at Tyrods numbers over 14 games last year and compare them to Smith's (who has been in the league much longer). Keep trying with Alex Smith being better.
