where is this data? I can't find an official link on the National Federation of State High School Associations. Most recent data they have is for 2014-2015 season with 1,085,182 participants. Nothing for 2016/2017. 2013-2014: 1,094,949 participants Overall, football has been on a slight decline since 2008/2009, where they had 1,113,062 participants. http://www.nfhs.org/ParticipationStatics/ParticipationStatics.aspx/ I wouldn't be so dramatic about football going anywhere. It's still #1 in terms of participants according to the data. I'd love to know historically how it has fluctuated. I would assume fluctuations are normal. Is 25,000 (if that's even accurate) completely out of the norm historically? I don't know.

You've been around so I find it hard to believe you haven't seen this same story replayed over and over and over again, every year. Preseason isn't real. I don't even want to go into why it's not real because I feel like I'd be patronizing you, because you should know better. And it's not to say that Mahomes won't be good. He may. Chiefs are 43 - 21 with Alex Smith at QB since 2013. I think there are only 2-3 teams with a better winning % over that stretch in the NFL.

I disagree. TT literally just turned 28. Hes essentially enetering his prime for a QB. Our best defender in Dareus is in the middle of his prime or just entering it. Shaq Lawson and Ragland were just drafted last year. Our #1 corner now was drafted this past offseason. Our #1a or #2 WR was drafted this past offseason. Cordy Glenn is entering his prime at 27. Dawkins on the OL is a rookie. Henderson is still young too. We have a good mixture of youth and experience at critial positions all over the roster.

Hes a solid player on the field and great guy off the field. Wonderful addition. Unfortunately for him every miniscule mistake he makes will be magnified x1000 bc of the person he is replacing.
