Attendance Issues in Cali and how it relates to us

I agree about the Dodgers. They are always at the top or near the top in attendance. There is a die hard baseball contingent that follows the Dodgers. Such a historic franchise too. Like you said, football is another matter. -

1. I didnt miss the point about a permanent population. In fact, my point specifically mentioned how its the permanent population, not the tourists, that will have to carry this team. And nobody has any idea how thats going to pan out. The large majority of the permanent population in Vegas doesnt work 9-5, M-F. They work all kinds of shifts in 24 hrs, including weekends; especially weekends. Sunday is a work day in Vegas. 2. Im relatively young (30s). But i whole heartedly disagree about the ease of flying to Vegas from LA just to watch the game for the day. Again, thats not to say that it wont happen but like anything else, it will lose its luster after a couple of years. And this is all assuming that the Raiders are good for a while. No one is flying anywhere consitently to watch a 6-10 team. Which reverts back to the Las Vegas population that lives there having to back the team for its long-term success. Initially it can be successful especially since the Raiders may be good for a while and it will be the trendy thing to do for the young fans. However, like anything else, the new shiny toy wont be as shiny in 8yrs and the tourists will revert to the main reason they're in Vegas: Gambling, Sex, Parties. Football cant compete with those 3 things. -

1. The article itself didn't mention the temperature of gameday when it referenced where the seats are situated: "Here's the thing, the NFL's plans for relocating teams have been hilariously ham-fisted. Moving the 49ers to Santa Clara, 45 minutes from San Francisco was a moronic decision. Levi's Stadium is also positioned so roughly 70 percent of the stadium bakes in the sun with no chance of shade." 2. I didn't specifically say it was 60 at that game, but I apologize for the confusion if it sounded like I was. My reference to 60 was an arbitrary number I threw out there for the average temperature of homes games for the the 49ers that will last well into November. The article makes it sound like the seats being positioned in the sun is something that's bad for all 8 home games, which is nonsense. 3. Last but not least: The stadium being empty has absolutely little to do with the position of the sun relative to the seats and everything to do with the fanbase not caring about their team. Which comes back full circle to how pathetic 49ers fans are that they are unable to at least put more than 10,000 people in the stands for a home opener considering their franchise has had dynasties and also recent success. Not to mention the stadium is only what 3 years old? -

Was SF the only city in the entire US that had temps in the 90's on opening day? Its opening day. Do you tell your family we're not going to the game after buying tickets bc its +90 out? How so? Me: 70% of the stadium being in the sun is a sad excuse for the stadium being empty. Others: but its hot out. Me: who cares its opening day. Others: but its hot out. Me: is SF the hottest city in the US? Others: but its hot out. And im dumb? -

I never knew SF had fans made of paper maché. Apparently they dry up and crumble to little bits if its 90 degrees outside. Cant watch a football game. Hysterical. Who cares if i dont live there? Is SF the hottest city in the US now? Theres 2000 fans in the stadium for their home opener and you guys are claiming its too hot? Pathetic. How do the SF Giants manage to play games in sub-saharan california in August? -

Geeze guys youre killing me: its the home opener. Its 94 degrees. These are the same fans who have been sitting through baseball games in August day after day after day. But now 94 is too hot for a single game? Empty stadium? Brutal -

But your missing the point. Its not about $$. Its about why people go to Vegas to begin with. And a person doesnt go to Vegas to spend $$$ to sit in a stadium baking in the sun to watch men stand around waiting for the refs to tell them the TV commercial break is done. Are Vegas tourists going to wake up at 10 am to go watch a 1pm game when the Raiders are 2-5? Lmao. The thought of that makes me want to vomit. How do baseball teams manage to fill stadiums on Sundays in August? Tell me what the average temp in SF is in October. -

I agree. Granted, there will always be a contingent that does, however, i think thatll be the extreme minority. In the long run, any sustained attendance will have to come from the community itself, not tourists. If the Raiders arent doing too hot 3-5 years from now, who in their right mind is going to waste a Sunday in Vegas watching an average football team? The thought of that is blasphemy to me. -

But the root of the issue is you dont travel to Vegas to watch football. Thats a waste of money in my opinion since football is literally the most boring thing going on in Vegas. Just my opinion. -

Wow I had not seen a picture of the 49ers last game until this thread. There may be 2,000 people in that stadium for the second half. That's ridiculous and embarrassing for the fanbase. I don't blame the ownership in SF. SF is an iconic franchise in the NFL, have had a very, very rich history. Have had success in the last decade as well. And b/c the team builds a stadium 30-40 minutes you're telling me those clown fans in SF can't get their tiny little smart cars to drive that distance? Give me a break. What an embarrassment that fanbase is. The part that actually made me laugh is that "70% of the seats are in the sun"..LMFAO..really???? Is SF located in Qatar? Will the SF fans melt if they sit in the sun on a 60 degree day for more than an hour??? B.R.U.T.A.L. -
What's going on with ESPN and the NFL?
bobobonators replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What bothers me most about ESPN is the same complaint I have about CNN and FOX: 24/7 sports (news) coverage is not practical so they almost have to go out of their way to dramatize everything in order to justify their existence. Instead of just showing me unadulterated sports or news, they need to tell me and show me how i should feel about sports or news. Its blipping nauseating. -
Look at that. He threw it behind him and still caught it.
-
Gonna come down to a defensive score. Hey look at that. A WR making a play.
-
Still better than the LA Rammers The bengals could literally have 3int's by now.
-
meh. TT beat Dalton last season with scrubs off the street playing WR and TT had more total TD's than Dalton to finish the season. Dalton has played on a loaded Bungals team.
-
I would love to hear what people on this board would say if this offense was approaching 7 quarters without scoring a TD. The servers would implode. Dalton is garbage. He has a HOF bound WR. Garbage.
-
i always cringe when players fall on their head.
