Well considering, EJ is what...5 and 9 as a a starter, I would say .500 is an upgrade. I actually like EJ a lot, and I think he will be a solid player in this league, but I do not think he has the mental make up of an elite QB and he is just not ready yet.... I have to ask you what is more important. The team winning, or EJ getting better? He lost out to Grossman in his 2nd season, where Grossman was the established starter before injury. Plus, Grossman did get a team to the Super Bowl. Tebow was handed the job, Orton never "lost" it to him. But using your logic.... Are you going to say when the Bills are ready to hand things back to EJ....."EJ....we can't start him, he lost his starting job to Kyle Orton!" Based on your logic, we may as well just cut EJ now and nobody else should sign him because he lost his starting job. Ha...ha... Funny post. That is the best part. Either we are better, or we are better....But no need to panic.

I really do not understand why so many people are pissed about the QB switch on these boards. There is nothing but upside in this move. EJ may eventually be a better QB than Orton, but he is not right now. The Bills just showed they are willing to do whatever it takes to win now, which should make us all happy as fans. So lets look at potential outcomes. 1) Orton becomes the second coming of Kurt Warner. With the talent on this team, he is still young enough to play for 5 or 6 years, which would give Buffalo their QB of the future and time to develop another QB, assuming they resign Orton after this year. EJ continues to develop and we have a very solid back up for the next few years and eventually EJ gets another shot sometime in the future. 2) Orton is an average QB, which makes him much better than EJ (right now) which gives us a chance at winning this season. Orton keeps us in it, EJ has some time to learn from the sidelines and comes back next year more able to lead an offense. If EJ is too delicate to handle a setback like being benched early in his career, than quite frankly, we should know now, because he will never have the mental maturity to be a quality NFL QB. Remember, Orton had a decent rookie year where he started 15 games, only to be benched in year 2. He is still playing and working. We should expect no less from EJ. 3) Orton is the exact same as EJ. In which case this season is over. Orton plays a few games until we are essentially out of the running, and then EJ comes back in to develop more. Hopefully, the experience helps him and we have our QB of the future. 4) Orton is the worst QB since B.J Hobert. in which case the season is over and EJ will come back in to develop later in the season. We then see EJ is still bad and not developing which means we are no better off than we are right now from the QB position. At least in this case you showed your veteran team that you were not sacrificing the season on the alter of letting EJ "develop" and you did everything you could right now to win. It does not matter if you like EJ or not, EJ was loosing this team, especially the receivers. if they did not change, there would have been a mutiny eventually. So at the end of the day, I do not think anyone can argue that the Bills just improved the talent level at the QB position (right now) and the team should be better (right now) because of it. If we are not, then it does not really matter anyway, because EJ will have plenty of time to develop more when the games do not count in November. Like EJ, dont like EJ - hard to argue this team was going nowhere fast this season with him behind center.

It's Hard to Swim in the NFL Captain Run-A-Ground

No offense, but as a guy who has worked for major wall street firms and still remains in the field. Fitz will make A LOT more money in the NFL if his contract is completed than he would have on Wall Street....Almost without exception. The overwhelming majority of multi-millionaires acquire their wealth as business owners, not as wall street CEO's. Of course there are exceptions to every profession. But the chances of Fitzpatrick becoming a CEO for a Wall Street firm is about as likely as well...him becoming a multi-millionaire quarterback in the NFL! Not impossible, but highly improbable. Also, you would need to be a CEO of the highest order to warrant that kind of payday. No other position, sans owning a firm would bring in that type of money.

Good points all...Also, no way he would want one, even if he was offered a good position. He already will make more money as a player, and potentially an analyst, coach, etc. Then he ever would on the street. Plus, a lot less headache and stress (sans coaching potentially), less b.s and ass kissing to put up with etc. Would be very surprised to see that. Maybe he'll be a spokesman for a Wall Street firm as "Former 3 Time Super Bowl Champion Quarter back of the Buffalo Bills"

I never understood the fascination with "fast" quarterbacks. Very, very few QB's who are really elusive runners have amounted to anything in the NFL. You can probably name the truly successful ones on one hand. The majority of elite QB's in the league right now who win Super Bowls probably could not crack a 5 second 4o yard dash time.....The fascination with the Michael Vick type QB over a Peyton Manning type QB is just funny. I don't care how fast a QB can run the ball, because a QB with a good arm can throw it a hell of a lot faster.

The problem with teacher pensions is usually administration. In our school district, there is 1 administrator for every 4 teachers. There pension is roughly 90% of there average 3 highest years compensation after 30 years of service. Many of the administrators make 150k a year plus. Just crazy numbers.....yes they are unsustainable. And I spent a lot of time advising public school pensions here in Nevada. The key is fewer administrators, more teachers.

Keep in mind T.O will always have his NFL pension. We should not see him sleeping under a bridge anytime soon.

I know its not a very likely outcome, just was curious if the top two wide receivers, the top two corners, the safety and linebacker we appear to like and the top left tackle are already off the board, what then. Here is another scenario, lets assume that Buddy cannot get a trade he likes, or simply does not want to trade the pick. My thought process is do we get the second or third best player at their position (according to the previous pick) or do we truly go bpa, maybe Richardson? What a cluttered backfield in this case. I do not think it is shaking out this way, but I am sure the Bills have thought of some scenario like this and what they would have to do if there is a run on the positional players we are looking at.
