Didn't read the article, but I think it could work. The 3-4 Over is referring to the 1-gap 3-4, the same system that Wade Phillips ran when he was here, and currently runs in Dallas (it was developed by his father, Bum Phillips I think), where Jay Ratliff, who is actually lighter than Kyle Williams, does quite well. However, George Edwards learned the 3-4 from Bill Parcells, who strongly believes in a 2-gap 3-4... which might mean otherwise...

Jay Ratliff is listed at 303 (although he's 6'4") Kyle Williams is listed at 306 (6'1") So it can be done... not saying it will, but it CAN be done.

Bruce Campbell had the longest arms of the group, at 36+ inches. Maybe it would suit us to trade down, and grab him? -

Why no, I did not know that! Thank you good sir!

Doesn't look like anything major. It references a Washington post article that basically talks about how this rumor has been spreading on a Buffalo Bills message board.

And don't forget, that for his first 3 years, he played well on what was arguably the most difficult position on the O-Line. Can't remember where I read it...but there was a article that said RG is often paired up 1 on 1 with some of the monster DT's.

Doesn't cost me anything to do this either.

Some people say that Suh can be a 3-4 NT. His strength and push is just that good.
-
Exactly. It's like comparing Richard Seymore to Vince Wilfork. Completely different. And as a side note, I agree with the analysis that he would be great as a 3-4 DE... but probably not as a NT. Of course, there's the possibility that we will be playing a 1-gap 3-4 instead of a 2-gap style. Wade Phillips runs a 1-gap...and Jay Ratliff, although only 6'4" and 303 lbs does a wonderful job as NT.

How did Mike Williams do this year with the Redskins?
-
It's already been established that Stroud isn't going to play NT. In fact, he's gone public in saying that he's excited about the prospect of playing LE in this scheme, and I think most would agree that he at least fits the prototype of this. What would be interesting to me is... how do the coaches plan on running this hybrid defense that we keep hearing about? Do they already have something in mind? Or are they going to wait until after the draft to mold this "hybrid" scheme around what players we DO have? It'll be an interesting offseason

And what if it wasn't a wig? Would that make it more or less disturbing?

In regards to the short arms argument, I don't have actual numbers, but I think I might remember reading somewhere that Michael Roos and Ryan Clady both have short arms. -
On the other hand, what if Saffold is really NOT a good prospect, but he brings him in for the sake of familiarity? That's the other side of the argument... not sure what kind of info people have on Saffold... Either way, he should be in the best position to gauge how he'll do in the pros.

Wasn't Losman a Donahoe era pick? Lynch was the Levy era pick you were looking for I think.

It's not delivery...It's DIGIORGIO! Was it Al Michaels that said that on MNF against the Cowboys a few years back?
-
What's wrong with Trent Williams? Is it his size? I keep reading everywhere that Trent Williams may not project well into an NFL tackle, but why? I'm not sure, but I thought I read a month ago that he was only 6 ft tall...and that's why nobody wants him...but after I double check today, he's listed as 6 ft 6 everywhere...am I going crazy??

If we do manage to land Hampton, I still think we would need to address the NT position early in the draft (as a replacement down the line). That way, our drafted NT would get a great mentor in the form of Hampton, while developing into a monster in a few years, whether that be Dan Williams or Terrence Cody.

Does anyone think this line combination will work? LT:Levitre / Draft LG:Incognito C:Wood RG:Butler RT:Draft / Levitre I didn't really pay attention when Levitre kicked out to LT for a while. How did he do, and does he have any potential to do that in the future?

Goodell is from Jamestown. If anyone will make sure that the Bills stay in Buffalo, it's him. Hate on him all you want for some of his policies, but he's one of the more important figures to look to when it comes to keeping the Bills here. On that note, how does our Stadium compare to others around the league? Obviously, the Ralph won't hold a candle to Lucas Oil stadium, or that behemoth in Arlington, but what about compared to others like Lincoln Financial in Philadelphia, and Arrowhead stadium?

Bills 3-4 Be Aggressive & Attacking
Mr. ChumChums replied to Mr. ChumChums's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like your point, and agree with you for the most part...but to play devil's advocate here.... Technically, Kyle Williams was the NT in our Under-front 4-3, while Stroud was our Undertackle 3-technique. The role of Williams here was to plugging the A-gap between the C and RG, similar to the role that Fat Pat Williams has in Minnesota. Stroud (which is Kevin William's role in Minny), as our "under-tackle", is then theoretically placed 1-on-1 with the LG so that he can easily penetrate and get to the QB / ball carrier well behind the LOS. So now, the question is, would Williams be able to transition from a 4-3, 1-gap NT that plays over the right shoulder of the C, to a 2-gap 3-4 NT that has to play C directly? Probably not. But...this is in a Bill Parcells style, 2-gap 3-4 that George Edwards most likely will run (he learned the 3-4 in Miami when Parcells took over). However, could Williams succeed in a 1-gap, Wade Phillips style 3-4? I say DEFINITELY. This is because then, Williams is in a much more familiar alignment, having to play on the outside LEFT shoulder of the C, only being responsible for the A gap on the LEFT side, and taking on the LG instead of the RG. The only caveat in this case is that you need a monster at LE (Stroud?) that can take on the RT and the RG, and a RE that can hold up in the run game, all the while rush the passer when he is aligned 1-on-1 with the LT (Bruce Smith style). All that aside, put a few pounds on Williams, and he could theoretically play in the 1-gap style 3-4. How well would he do? Who knows. -

Well, at least now, if he doesn't institute an attacking D, we can call him a liar
