  1. Followed by: "But there is still the posibility that he can do what Nick Foles is doing if given competent coaching and an upgrade at who the targets he's throwing to are." That is how i got that out of what was said....easy...all you had to do was include the VERY NEXT sentence.
  2. But if EJ doesn't suck then clearly with the amount of field time that Nassib (insert QB name here) has seen, how can that QB suck. You can't have it both ways, you just can't. The only mumbling i continue to hear repeated is that EJ has the most upside. What the frick is upside? Is that measured with a probe? There cannot be a more vague, unspecified, imagined 'plus' than that?? I didn't want Nassib, but seeing as our three qbs of varying pedigrees have all played relatively similar to one another, how could he be worse? How can you even begin to argue it?
  3. And, after all, because someone else did it, naturally EJ will too. So by the excuses thrown out in this thread, EJ will succeed no matter what metric is applied because if you look long and hard enough, you will find someone with a worse metric who got better.. Got it, case closed. The problem is, using that logic, there is no point in evaluating anything......this is the Jerry Springer mentality.....I am not mentally deranged because clearly i see people on TV who are much worse than me. Why 14 years of futility......wait.................
  4. Wait, i see what you did there...you aren't serious. Or we could draft a QB in the first round who isn't a reach and isn't unanimously considered a project....a long term project for a team that can't afford long term projects at any position. Longshots rarely pay dividends. We are arguing over a QB who to my knowledge has no real defining moment either in college or in the pros. EJ Manuel was never anything special at FSU and was one of those guys that climbed the draft boards but no one knows why.....mostly because of lack of anyone else to talk about during the draft. Its like every presidential election, the candidates all suck....who sucks least? And to answer the next predictable question....Blake Bortles. Or in round two, AJ McCarron or Taj Boyd if he drops.
  5. TSW wisdom.....EJ is a work in progress, too early to judge....but i can tell you that Thad is a career backup. I have to laugh....as if on cue! It is amazing to me how people cannot see how judging one and giving the other more rope is incredibly hypocritical.
  6. i got your demeanor sarcastic comment, it wasn't that sophisticated....it also wasn't worth commenting on....comparing Tebow and Peyton Manning is as asinine as comparisons get. Compare Tebow and Kyle Orton perhaps as they QB'ed the exact same team in the exact same season and had personalities similar to what the original point was about. Compare Peyton and Tom Brady and who has the most rings? yeah, the fiery guy. I think you are missing the point.....I am not saying Tebow is good, i am saying EJ is Tebow-like bad. 10 completions for 300 yards....is 10 completions for 300 yards. You can mock it all you want...get back to me when EJ has a 300 yard game....not a 290-something....a 300 yard game.....and then again when he does it in a playoff game.

I didn't miss your point, i simply added another perspective to the argument.....that is doesn't jive with your belief that EJ is going to be a good QB is what causes you to respond in the asinine way that you did...."thanks and goodnight".....dismissive much? <drops the mike, walks off the stage>
  8. Blake Bortles I would take a 7 game winning streak. Go back and read the positive comments about EJ in this thread. Replace "EJ" with "Tebow" and it sounds eerily similar.....minus the wins. "starts slow, doesn't go through progressions, slow eyes, inaccurate, bad footwork, strange throwing motion, gets more accurate down the stretch"
  9. I think that was part of the National Championship argument going into all of the conference championship games...was it not? That FSU had a pretty weak strength of schedule.....63rd or 66th as i recall while Auburn (for example) had a top 20 SOS and had beaten Bama. Ohio State had a long winning streak going back two full seasons....and it was clear they were a product of weak scheduling. I think the NCG will go a long way to determining what is to be thought of Jameis Winston. Point to a defining game for FSU from this year? Clemson? This is my biggest complaint with CFB. There should be no rankings until after the 7th week of the CFB season. Teams trend off of preseason rankings which are just opinions of what might happen. Florida was ranked in the top 15 preseason.....and they sucked about as bad as a big time program can suck. The concept would certainly apply to Braxton Miller's numbers.
  10. I would emphasize here that you made a very good point and then completely ignored it in your summation. EJ's numbers were extremely impacted by the talent around him and the competition he played. EJ had insane talent and played largely against glorified D-II football teams (the ACC). When faced with better competition, his numbers looked more like this..... Cmp Att Yds Pct TDs Int Long 18 33 182 54.5 1 3 27 It was the lack of production in games that were losses that had the FSU fan base questioning his ability to QB what was a stacked team. It is also worth noting that he was sacked over 60 times in two years against some weak defenses. Another college QB put up these numbers......Superstar or Bust? Comp 691 Att 995 Pct 66.4 Yds 9285 Y/A 9.3 TD 88 Int 16 Rate 170.8
  11. With regard to Kiko? Wait, are you really going to argue in favor of this front office? If so, fine agree to disagree. But i think it is widely agreed upon that the Bills have one of the worst front offices in the NFL....top 6 maybe? And the football moves have been questionable at best for over a decade. Whats your point? Paul was defensive MVP for the bills that year. I didn't make the comparison to have a dick size argument about who is better....geez you guys can't discuss anything without the entire point being....i am right! so either Kiko is worlds better or maybe the front 4 (3?) were better in 2008? I don't recall were we a 4-3 team then?
  12. ok, was it his second year that he began to show signs of life......geez, i guess i was thinking of 2008...my bad
  13. Other teams didn't pass on kiko alonso.....he was projected as a 3rd round pick....so the bills in essence reached. Is that a good pick, i would still say the jury is out. Would i trade kiko for patrick willis....yes, i would. Has Kiko been worthy of his pick to date....hell yes, but using the logic prevalent in this thread, one year doesn't a career make. Kiko reminds me of (in how he has been received and perceived by the fans) Paul Posluszny, adored in his first year....then not so much. I hope Kiko's fate is better. But, if BPA this year is a LB, even at the very same position as Kiko, hell yes we take him.
  14. Why would he have to brace for a letdown....he is bills fan like the rest of us....it happens every week beginning in september and ends in october, (November and December games are typically meaningless). Wishing that we upgrade the QB position after reaching for guy who was (as stated numerous times) 'a project' is not silly. EJ may be good, but is more likely to not be good based on pure odds of the meat grinder that is the NFL. If the bills have a chance at a good prospect at QB when they draft and that player is also BPA, not drafting a QB in this year's first round would be bad draft management. Reaching again would be worse. For EJ Manuel to end up being a great QB would mean that the bills front office out smarted everyone.....tell me who here wants to bet on that scenario?
  15. damn Rob, you are killing it (and me) today. spit out my soda!
  16. it is interesting that when a team finally gets a real top tier franchise guy, everyone else on the team suddenly becomes respectable in terms of play. Great example is New Orleans. Every new weapon they add to that team looks like an embarrassment of riches. Now, swap Case Keenum and Drew Brees......suddenly Houston would shine with the talent they have (which is a bunch) and New Orleans would become below average. QB has and always will be the lynch pin of an NFL team. Find one or languish in mediocrity.
  17. Marrone was hired because he was cheap and the moving costs were low. Otherwise, if you are going to go after an unknown college commodity, you would go after someone like Chris Petersen (last year) or Gus Malzahn (this year).....guys who have pioneered something at the college level. If you are a sucky NFL franchise, you hire someone like Marrone or Schiano who had average success in a terrible conference.....the AAC....are you kidding me?
  18. Um, they suck? The would lose to FSU, AU or Bama by 30? just guessing.
  19. Its funny, and i can argue both sides.....but if you support the QB, he needs more time.....if you don't support the QB, you (not you particularly) can proclaim he sucks with complete certainty.
  20. What about blake bortles in the second round......that kid has franchise potential.
  21. They should!
