This is how epically bad we are.

Whaley was the Peter principle, he really was and is. He is very good at pro personnel evaluation. At college scouting and working a draft, he pretty much sucks. -
Greg Garbriel: On What the Bills Are Trying To Do
billsfan714 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beane was hired after the draft. The one lingering stench of Whaley remaining was trading back up twice in 2017. Sure we finally got an extra 1 after initially trading down, but we also gave up several picks to move back up in the 2nd and 3rd. Looking at this roster right now, I kind of think I would rather have an extra 3 guys under contract for 4 years than the moves up. I dont know if McBean will turn this franchise around. But I sure as hell know this team has had moves up backfire more in this drought than payoff. So I will give the accumulate picks strategy a chance, its a real change. I'll have to reserve judgement until after the the 2018 draft. Then we can criticize if we dont agree with it. The 18 draft will make or break the carolina duo. I've said this before and always will, I would take half this board armed with 5 draft magazines and some websites over our front office during this millennium. Could they do worse? I really doubt it. Here's hoping Beane knows what he is doing. -

I look at that schedule on the first page, with where we are right now, I see maybe 4 games where we will be favored. A TT or Shady injury and we could be right there for the first pick. Yeah its that ugly. -
Ragland traded to KC for 4th round 2019 pick
billsfan714 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember when posters on here were saying we have 2 first rounders this year because we were getting Ragland back after his lost rookie year.. OMG too funny. -
How do we feel about McCoy in the new running/blocking schem

Pretty good that I passed on him with the fifth pick of my fantasy draft. -
Who will be shipped out next?

How bad is Ragland if he cant fill the Spikes role when we ran Schwartz's D. McD's defense is a 4-3 and we got gashed in the running game. I thought run D was his specialty. -
McD and Beane/ Do you trust them?

Go on record regarding the trades
billsfan714 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never liked the trading up for Watkins or Ragland or most of the previous trade-ups. I never saw the physicality in Watkins of an elite receiver. The bubble screens in college never materialized in the NFL. We were not going to invest what it would take to re-sign him. I mean my god if Robert Woods got 8 mil a year, what would Watkins get? On a side note, what will the Rams have in Austin, Woods and Watkins in terms of payroll, the trade from their take only makes sense if they re-sign Watkins. So they will have probably 30 plus million invested in 3 receivers. If I am true to my philosophy of acquiring picks, I am also not committed to trading the farm for one QB. The Robert Griffin stench will always linger in the air. I was 21 when the 83 draft class came out. Miiami didn't do squat and Marino fell in their lap. What could make the 18 draft really special if they get their QB of the future and still have these other accumulated picks to add solid players. I fully agree with any poster that is favor of any cuts that net us another 3rd. My bottom line is Beane needs to stay cool and hopefully let the draft come to him. A consistent in the playoff drought is bad moves up....JP, McCargo, Ragland, Watkins----in a deep WR class. I always thought one the thing Whaley forgot from his Steelers days is they they dont make a lot of dramatic moves up early in the draft. Now I dont know if Beane is the savior,,,,,but I was certain in short order to know Whaley was in over his head. Time will tell......... -

That pass in the end zone he missed in the last game against the Jets said it all. Guy just didn't have it. -

In fact it is quite bad, especially when you are picking in the top half of the draft. -
RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
billsfan714 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well you have two options besides trading up,,,,you can stay where you are and maybe we get him without trading up. Or you trust your board and take the next best OL on your board and keep the picks. -
RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
billsfan714 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didnt mind the first trade up for Zay when we also got a 5th. This one for what...move up 12 spots and give up a 3rd and 2 5ths I didnt like so much. Dont worry about what Carolina was going to do, would of rather stayed put and drafted the best OL on our board and keep the extra picks. This had a little of meet the new boss, same as the old boss. I can add to my signature ...we used a 1,1,2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, and a 5 to draft Watkins, Ragland and Dawkins. Thats 9 picks on 3 guys and none of those picks are 6ths or 7ths. Thats more than a entire regular draft of 7 picks, again on 3 guys. Let that sink in. -
GM Doug Whaley has been fired

Well the one good thing about giving McCoach so much power is that we wont constantly be changing schemes especially on defense. -

To me the bad contracts and the number of FAs we had, the cap situation is on both Whaley and Overdorf. Not just one of them. They have to work together and know if we sign player A to X number of dollars how that will affect us down the road with other players.
