A Bills Fan Visits a Psychotherapist
billsfan714 replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When they talked about a self fulfilling prophecy, I was thinking about all the Bills fans that said yeah Leodis should of run it out, he was being agressive. Weve become conditioned to losing and couldnt imagine making a first down on the Patriots, with the lead. Somehow what was lost on most here is this isnt your old Patriots defense, they didnt have Mayo and Seymour. Bruschi, Vrabel and Harrison are gone. In case you didnt notice the drive before we went down and scored, now somehow bills fans couldnt EVEN IMAGINE a first down. So we go out do the ONE THING that shouldnt of been done, run out of our own endzone(4 yards deep) with no return setup. and our returner gets stood up, and the patriots strip him of the ball. Textbook 101 how to blow a game and a lot of fans cheer the decision. -
Who/What is most to blame for the loss on MNF?

Well if Leodis was told to get down if he returned it, and didnt, then he should be removed from returning kicks if he cant follow a coaches instructions. -

I asked that in another post, why havent we had a reporter ask that question? Because someone needs to be held responsible. -

Bobby April hands down. Its his friggin job to make sure the players on his units know what to do. It didnt take a rocket scientist to know the Patriots would be looking to stand up the returner and try and strip the ball. To run it out 4 yards deep, with no return setup, with the lead and just over 2 mins remaining was moronic. There was plenty of time after the Patriots long TD drive and kickoff to make sure Leodis knew the situation and the strategy. Either Bobby April didnt do his job or Leodis totally ignored his instructions. -
McKelvin complainers, the definition of IRONY

What I want to know, could some buffalo sports reporter ask this, was LM coached in this situation? It doesnt take a genius to know a good team like the pats with Billechik, would instruct his players to stand Leodis up and strip the ball. Did April or DJ tell LM to get down and not fight for yards? Because it sure as hell doesnt seem like he was coached about the situation. Plus Im in the downing it in the EZ, he caught it 2 yards deep and his momemtum took him another 2 yards further back, so yeah, 4 yards deep and no return blocking, Im taking a knee. The offense and especially Jackson were having success, it wasnt exactly impossible to envision a first down unless you have no faith in your offense. To me, conservative is taking it out pondering how much time youll leave Brady when you punt. Thats the ultimate in gutless football. -
Brandon should assess Lynch's market value

Does anyone really think a team is going to give up a high(1 or 2) draft pick for a guy whose next off the field transgression will result in a substantial suspension? I dont think so. -
Chimp I like your thinking. Its why the head coach has a headset. After NE scores but misses the two, DJ should of been talking with April, MAKE SURE Leodis knows those two things, and obviously LM didnt. Hell I would of gone over to McKelvin and told him myself. Its something a Billichek or Parcells would of done, its what a head coach is supposed to do.

McKelvin was SUPPOSED to bring it out with 2:06 left

Right. One first down and Brady does even get the ball back, instead were planing on it. -

Well from my previous posts, Im a Bills fan down here in Steeler country. The Steeler mentality would of been to come out first and 10 on the 20 thinking were gonna run smash mouth football make a first down and ice the game. We control this game, we have the lead and the ball. Buffalo thinking------is already contemplating how much time your going to give the other team when you punt. -
Some Thoughts About Tonights Game.
billsfan714 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally agree, the one unit that played well was the defense, gave us 7 of our 24 points themselves. NE does have one of the best offenses in football, the defense didnt give up the 40 plus points everyone was predicting, they were on the field a lot in the 2nd half. Didnt see Brady throwing deep bomb touchdowns to Moss or Galloway or Welker on our defense and I gaurantee you'll see the Pats throwing bombs and hanging 40 on plenty of teams this year. I was actually pretty proud of the defense overall. -

Your more scared of Brady having a timeout then just thinking lets just go make ONE FIRST DOWN and win this game. -

If it doesnt make sense to you to have the ball first and 10 on the 20 with a 4 point lead and just over 2 minutes remaining, then I suppose nothing makes sense to you. -

No actually 1 first down would of about sewn it up, unless your going to wet yourself knowing brady has 30 seconds and no timeouts and 60 -70 yards to go needing a touchdown. -

If your worried about taking 6-8 seconds off the clock to not give NE a free timeout, then you must know your team cannot make a first down to ice the game, or your D cannot stop NE going 60-70 yards with 0-1 timeouts then YOU have less guts then Dick Jauron. -
Me too, Im numb to these losses, I dont get my hopes up until theres 0:00 on the clock, been there too many times since the glory days. We these Bills you expect and wait for the one mistake to lose the game. Then watch it and think to yourself, yep, knew that was coming.
-
The only silver lining in this loss is we are closer to the end of Dick the human coma Jauron era in Buffalo.
-
When we broke up the two point conversion, I was just thinking just dont fumble the kickoff, run three plays if you get a first down the game is over, but make NE use at least 2 timeouts. But yeah, I just knew we find a way to lose when we went up by 11 with 5:25 left. This aint your glory day Bills, these teams seek and find a way to lose the big games(as in whatever you do just dont do this and they do it) and you know it coming, you just know it in your gut.

I was thinking what ever happens, just dont fumble the kickoff, then bam fumble. If April didnt tell Mckelvin whatever you do just get down on the ground, then hes not doing his jobl as a coach. Its these little things that win and lose football games. I could care less about about getting the clock under 2 minutes on the return. We get a first down and its over instead were thinking about running 6-8 seconds off the clock. Hell I would of taken my chances with the pats having to go 60-70 yards with a minute and half and needing a TD with 0-1 timeouts. You have to be sadistic to be a Bills fan with this coaching staff, because if theres a way to lose a big game, we will find it. -
Eight yard outs? A lot of em looked like 2-3 yard outs. An eight yard out Trent going long.

If you don't have anything nice to say about Jauron
billsfan714 replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dick Jauron was never caugh naughty texting house pages, or with a "wide stance" in a airport stall, he only sucks at being a football coach. -
God and I live down here with these Steeler fans, this was just friggin pitifull. When DJ comes out of his coma, I at least hope he shows some emotion when hes fired, god willing, it will be soon. Granted I dont see every Bills game like a lot of posters here but heres some of my observations. Trent Edwards is not going to take this team to the next level. Third year and Im seeing him regress, not take the next step like a Philip Rivers, Rogers or Roethlisburger. Donte Whitner is a flat out turd. I have never seen him make any play of consequence, like a big hit, or big interception return. Though JP wasnt going to take us to the next level, at least he could air out the bomb to Evans so we could score occasionally. Does anybody in their right mind think this offense and Captain Checkdown are going to march methodically down the field on long drives? The line needs totally revamped, maybe move Woods to center(he only started 4 years at center at Louisville), get Bell in at LT move Langston to RT, move Butler to G and whoever is left to the other G. Levitre is not ready to start and I dont see what they saw in him to move up to get him. I hope the new coach comes in and blows up this roster, comes in the first meeting and tells the players the reason they've been losing is because of lot of them just are not good enough. Cuts Kelsay day 1. Trades away Roscoe and Reed and uses that 6 million for a real receiver. Finds a replacement for Kyle Williams, cuts Shobel and Denney. The bright spot tonight is my mind is were gonna suck and suck bad. I just hope we suck bad enough to get one of those top QBS coming out in the draft next year. God this is gonna be a loooooooooooooooooooooong year.
