  1. I've been pretty down on the Bill's and rightly so for many years. That said, I am actually believing Whaley and the whole competition thing. RB's with Brown and Dixon as a 3-4 RB, thats pretty deep. The receivers, no doubt deeper with the addition of Watkins and Williams and the subtraction of Stevie. Even TE though they added no draft picks(which is still a need), but you have to believe a 2nd year Gragg and a 2nd chance Moeaki(sp?) gotta be better than the stiffs behind Chandler. The OL no doubt stronger. The DL should be fine, we ran plently of 4 man fronts last year and DE opposite Mario should get it done by committee. Stronger at LB. Corner's are way deep. Who exactly replaces Byrd should be interesting, maybe Duke has something to offer, as they say sometimes it's the 2nd year guys who make the jump to the next level.

It's more that obvious Whaley, who preaches how competition make everyone better, has addressed competition everywhere but QB. It's plain as day that they want to give EJ all the confidence in the world because that's the one position that there's really no competition. and I can see their thinking. Confidence is important to a young QB. I get that, but to say that the Bills hopes of improving rest largely with EJ taking the next step can't be understated.

  2. Im firmly in the camp that Johnny Football's game doesn't translate to the NFL. I'll go old school and say at his best he's Fran Tarkenton, and that crap wont cut in today's NFL. I think he will be a regular on the injury report. The only thing that Cleveland fans might have some hope in is that they have 2 1's next year to right this wrong to move up and get the right guy next year.

  3. WEAKNESS !!! - letting Tyrd walk for nothing is the worst possible outcome.

hey Russ, you just let agent Eugene Parker school you again.

SHOW SOME STONES and tag his azz.

worst case scenario we pay $8.3 mil for half a season.

best case scenario you pick up a draft choice by trading him.

I really agree with this. Tag him again and do it the following year ..... what would be that total for 2 years compared to what the Bills were offering. Then tell Eugene good luck getting that huge contract when Byrd is close to 30.

  4. Let's face it, fellas, we're a farm club for just about everyone else in the league. We develop 'em and let them leave. In the process we lose countless draft picks on them and then their replacements. We're spinning our wheels and going nowhere. That's how you reach 14 years of futility.

This is depressing if he walks, that 2nd round a few years back where we drafted Byrd and Levitre.....well that was wasted on teams going no where. Groundhog day in Buffalo continues.

  5. What is there to discuss here? I can't believe the amount of people rushing to protect these guys. Over the last 14 years of futility the Bills have replaced numerous players, coaches and GMs and that's gotten us nowhere. It's way past the time we start weeding out the guys on top.

You are absolutely right. There has always been a group of posters on here who will defend anything the Bills do. Modrak had his defenders on here right until the end. It was never his fault---he just sets the board!!! If they cant defend what the Bills are doing then they attack the messenger, in this case Graham.

  6. To me, Superbowl XXV was exactly the opposite of Andre's career. The Giants were going to lay back and punish receivers which they did to Reed in that game, not his finest hour. But through all the seasons Andre had with the Bills is knowing and remembering all the full speed, over the middle, big impact catches he made over the years. He was one tough SOB. Tough catches over the middle and he could bounce off a defender and take it the distance. Safety coming to blow it up....... and he would hang on and take the shot. He made a living over the middle in the pre-defenseless receiver NFL. From Kutztown State to the the hall of fame.....the dude had heart and game.

  7. Im over 50 and I think Bruno and the RHCPs did fine, though I thought they should of ended with Higher Ground instead of the slow number. I'll agree with Curitiba above and go with the Pearl Jam or the Foo Fighters. Katy Perry I could watch, Taylor Swift not so much, that would be a beer run excuse. It is a tough gig to find someone appealing to a wide range of people but who can also entertain.

  8. Thumbsup: I've made this exact post 50 times it feels like.

When you're critical of a pick as it's made you're "an idiot for not giving him a chance, gotta wait 4yrs". But when you're critical 4yrs later it's written off as hindsight. So basically you just can't rip drafts ever. Wouldn't we all love to have that little accountability in our jobs? Seems like an awesome gig.

And yes, sadly if you could go back 12yrs, fired every single front office body collecting a check and just went "sort by Kiper" for picks, the $ you'd save on salaries/traveling/other expenses would surpass "Toronto $" plus you'd have a roster that is no worse.

    That is spot on.

  9. We'll see ... Dialogue is starting to change. CBS has reported Obrien took psu's offer to Houston and Houston balked at it. I can't imagine psu outbidding the nfl, so this may be a case of the deal falling apart and both sides are trying to save face. Doubt anything happens tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear of more Houston interviews soon.

Am told Bill O'Brien went back to #PennState & then circled back to the #Texans in negotiations but Houston brass didn't budge.

I think the buy-out is the one thing that hurts him. The one smart thing PSU did in that contract.

  10. Good question...and i cant really intellegently debate this...but from what i gather, the recruiting budget, # of recruiting staff members, and some facilities are not up to par with top football schools. There has also been a reluctance from the administration to do anything positive for the football program for 2 years due to the scandal.

They just approved a 10 million dollar high-def scoreboard. The old scoreboard was a whopping 13 years old and probably used about a 100 times. They paid out about 150 million in settlements, lawyer fees and public relation fees. Ive been in their private dining hall, their indoor practice facility. Ive inspected the stadium as part of my job. They spent over 440,000 on football recruiting 2013. There isnt much lacking at PSU.

OBrien has made no secret about his desire to coach in the NFL, he gets the offer he's going to leave.
