States need to have their own oversight. As soon as the fed can step in and declare a state voting system broken, they will, when the need to and pick the one they need to win. Trump just tried to do this, literally, as have several other losers from past elections. And the states had their say and the fed couldn’t override. It’s better. lol- you think political parties have integrity don’t you?? Have you no sense in how politics work?? There is no right or wrong. One side is always trying to figure out how to sabotage the other. Every Presidential election I can remember had a loser or their party crying foul. All of them.

Consolidated federal authority over any aspect of elections even with good intentions (which in my mind mid impossible given both parties are self interested not good intentioned) starts a down slippery slope. imagine if DJT only had to corrupt a few federal agencies or maybe even a few appointees??? If people want un sugar coated history, Slavery ownership directly impacted voting and economic power of the south vs the north And every time a new territory or state came into play, it was a tug of war over the potential power flip in majority.
