Your social welfare theory makes me want to consider living on the streets, instead of this drab working for a living thing. can I just drop a government subsidized trailer in you backyard and live there rent free since you are such a giver and presumably wealthy land owner? I promise to hold hands and sing cumbye-ah with you by the fire pit every night

Poor and violent? like EVERY CITY in New Jersey? https://www.google.com/amp/s/abc7ny.com/amp/9-50-most-miserable-cities-are-in-new-jersey-list/5595210/ a steaming pile of blue! With the exception of a few wealthy burbs propped up by adjacent cities in other states, one of the worst places to live in the country. Wow Biringham is an interesting reference. 2.7% unemployment this past April. That’s a bad thing right? https://www.bls.gov/regions/southeast/summary/BLSSummary_Birmingham.pdf

A living wage is different depending on your cost of living. There is no ubiquitous living wage! But i understand, these are the shallow talking point of a utopian mind cult., not based in any fundamental understanding of reality. Just make sure to remember how hypocritical it is to buy a Chinese made good because cots cheap. So un-socialist. and those billionaire CEOs want higher minimum wages- it Makes it justification to offshore write itself… think democrats are saviors of the people? Those billionaires funnel all that money to democrats because they want to pay more taxes snd can’t figure out how? No they want to break the ladder of social mobility to stay billionaires without competition… wake up! You’re being bamboozled. Of course- how else do you cost justify self driving drone cars dummy

Sorry… don’t let data and basic economic literacy get in the way of a good narrative. Maryland - 5 or 6 years maybe ? Our production facility there was already forced to reduce labor by 50% replacing assembly workers with robotics in the past 5 years and also moved a bunch of lines to Foxconn in Shenzhen to stay competitive in our industry. The entire facility will probably be shuttered in the next couple years. ah progress….

hard work growing up served as a great motivator for me to grow far beyond minimum wage by working hard. Not bitter about it at all. Having worked in manufacturing I’ve seen first hand what happens when labor costs rise, you have to lay off a bunch of people and hand your business to another country. I’m positive none of those people though they were losing their jobs because they are underpaid. When you live in utopian world ignorant of reality, it all sounds great. Why not make minimum wage $40 an hour right? People these days scoff at working hard and working your way up, especially those ignorant of basic economics… but I blame the education system for that. Economic illiteracy is even prolific in people with advanced college degrees.

the irony of this thought process, is the same people that are stomping their feet about white privilege being a systemic problem are the same who are stomping their feet saying they demand their entitled and privileged existence. I thank you gov for shining the light on this irony… must be nice to refuse to get off your but for less than 30 grand a year

Wage floors are artificial, sort of like most people’s understanding of economics. since labor is a significant component of cogs, all adding an artificial floor does is inflate the cost of all domestic goods and services, raise the hh income needed to be out of poverty, and undermine competitiveness with lower wage nations who don’t follow suit. you celebrate progress that guarantees more destitution… but you know what three say, those who can do…. so naive. In a global economy get where those replacement businesses come from? you are so full of it. Why don’t you tell me how you only buy American everything even if it costs ten times more oh principled one?

fascinating, turns out when you print and handout money for doing nothing, people are happy to take it and do nothing. Who ever could have predicted humans are inherently lazy? it’s Almost as if there needs to be some kind of economic system that incentivizes productivity to keep people engaged and working so they don’t become parasites.

Dems abhor small business. Too small and numerous to have effective authoritarian regulatory oversight, provide upward mobility, proprietors tend to lack government reliance, harder to corrupt with unions. Small businesses and the ability to start one represent the traditional’land of opportunity’, ‘American dream’ and is an icon of capitalism. Small business stands for everything the socialists distain.

Thanks capco. I like Maher a lot. He’s another rare independent thinker and has a great delivery. Good piece… progressive-phobia
