Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
Over 29 years of fanhood replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can’t help but believe he will have his best year by far. And if so, exactly why they should move on when the year is through. -

Yeah the defense played scared, but they weren’t holding cinci under the measly 10 points the offense mustered up. -
this is an inflection point for McDermott and Beane. If they walk away from this season thinking they just need a couple of tweaks then It is hard not to expect an even more disappointing season to come and with it the hot seat. Also Allen needs decide whether he wants to play a little longer and hang ‘em up or a lot longer, and then settle into playing QB differently. and both schemes, coordinators and the pieces there need a hard serious honest look. It’s just not good enough to keep doing the same thing and hope for a better post season

Bills will not make it to the playoffs in 2023?
Over 29 years of fanhood replied to Cygnus99's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s very easy to believe the core of this team has peaked last season. key points: 1) Allen improvement has plateaued. He talks the talk but his obsession with football doesn’t seem as pure as it used to. He’s still great, But unless there is a fundamental change in the offense that unlocks his game in a different way, he is who he is. 2) Dorsey is over his head, several solid football IQ media members see it. It’s not just in game play calling, it’s the offense. 3) the o line is bad. This is with a big LT contract, an aging small high dollar center, a number of street FAs and disappointing young talent 4) the high dollar part of D line is average and the firsts and seconds spent there produced middling players thus far. Only GR realistically has a hopefully higher ceiling. Performance doesn’t match the assets tied up in this rotational scheme. 5) the safety tandem is over. Maybe Hyde returns to form and maybe they find youth that replaces Poyer 6) Two first round cornerbacks on the roster and Dane Jackson is a starter. Need a stroke of luck here where Tre is back to his third year form and Elam plays up to his pick… (more hope, nothing to base it on) 7) offensive weapons- Diggs… that’s it (maybe cook becomes more than committee situational back?) Devin likely gone and is second most productive skill player needs to be replaced, that means 2nd or 3rd on a RB AGAIN 8.. Gabe Knox are who they are. Good compliments, also peaked as players and not excellent 9) jets and Dolphins were tough outs and will likely be better next season All in all a .500 type performance is a definite possibility especially if Sean and Beane think they are a few minor adjustments from being ready for next season. -
His most honest press conference of the year on some fronts. You can tell there is a lot more going through his head still that won’t come out. i wish a reporter would ask him how many more chances for a Super Bowl should you get Sean? or what’s the long term strategy to maximize team success with the remaining few years of elite qb play? nobody wants to hear it but Josh could already be more than half way through his career.

How many chances will McDermott get?

That team couldn’t have what they have and Allen. Not enough cap -

Don’t think they make the playoffs next year unless their young draft picks pull some miracle off season and they hit on 3 or 4 picks this year. -
2015 panthers… the party is just about over

An Assessment and Going Forward (after taking a breath)

Tre white is not and will never be an NFL safety! Not in this defense, not in any defense. He either returns to form next year or he’s an expensive problem. -
Another thing that was squandered. It’s gone now and they are old and beat up. They need new talent there

I feel the way about Ceedee Lamb that I used to many years ago about Diggs. Wow that dude can play -
So...is it a rebuild or is it a try again?

I was thinking this too. based on abuse he takes in guess he’s got 2-4 years left anyway -

bought that three years ago, and two years ago and last year… eventually you need enough self awareness to realize something bigger needs to change. how many bills would’ve started for that cinci team today? They were better at almost every position. Maybe punter?
