The Toronto deal will be held up....mark my words. The one thing Ralph cares about is the Toronto deal. It's pure gravy for him. The signings and effort to shore up the team were due to the eminence of a new Toronto deal. He needed an improved team to sell the deal. Now, with the team folding, the Toronto people will start to get "cold feet". Watch.

Can you imagine that if one little change was made in the draft two years ago....Andy Dalton instead of Aaron Williams

The Gailey Era Is All But Over
rcatty replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's that all about ? Your team is getting gouged and you'r standing there with your arms folded ! Damn it, you're the head coach, get in someone's face!! Parcells he is not! -
Polian has been successful for every team he has worked; Buffalo, Carolina, and Indy. He is on Sirius radio, and doesn't sound like an old man to me. Brains and judgement he has. We need a guy with vision and imagination. I still remember the trade he pulled off for Cornelius Bennett. The guy is sharp.

What really is unnerving are the misjudgements made by Buddy and Chan: Trent, Vince Young, Merriman, Fitzpatrick etc. I don't get how guys in football their entire lives can be so wrong, or at a minimum be in denial on talent evauation. For example, it's obvious that Fitzpatrick is terribly inconsistent, intra, and inter games. He has always been that way. How do you go with a guy like that? How do you deny the fact that since they gave him that contract the man has stunk ? QB is the most important position on the field. Yet we operate as if we can take a guy with a wind up bigger than "Warren Sphan ", and "accuracy" befitting a guy pitching for the Cubs, as out starting guy. Who is evaluating this position?
-
You need a guy who knows how to do it.....it's obvious Buddy is not the guy.

Gailey, Wanny, Gilmore, Aaron Williams, Dareus, Mario Williams, Fitzpatrick (extension contract). Please feel free to add your favorites !
-
Glad we tightened up our defense, and we've held the Niners to only 17 points in the first half ! It's that Wanny magic! So glad Gailey has abdicated full responsibility to him. What coaching!!!
-
Otherwise he's a great QB !
-
According to Gailey, (Howard Simon show, Monday morning), Wanny is totally in charge of the defense. What's that all about? I'm sorry, I thought he, Gailey, was head coach. No effective head coach abdicates total responsibility to a coordinator. Any head coach worth his salt is going to make sure the coordinator does what he, the head coach, wants. Who is running the asylum here ? Can you imagine Lou Saban letting an assistant call the defensive shots? Secondly, Gailey, who appears to be a competent, if not, brilliant offensive coordinator, appears to spend most of his time, being just that, an offensive coordinator, Effective head coaches don't immerse themselves in one aspect of the game, to the detriment of other phases. The defense needs a head coach, and he, Gailey, ought to act like they have one. He needs to get in the faces of his defense, and let them know that if they can't do the job, he'll find someone who can.

Hey Buddy...you feeling a little of the scare from New England yet ? Have you conceded a little bit of that cocky, brashness you had before the season started ? Tired of being laughed at ? Does it bother you that you and your team are seen as a joke around the league? I bet AJ is laughing in his boots ! I hope you, Chan and Wanny were wearing Depends yesterday because you all soiled yourselves.

I believe one of the best ways to measure the value or worth of a coach is by performance of his team. By that I mean, are the players performing up to their level of ability or underperforming, under that Coach? In two of four games thus far, our personel have terribly underformed. Just about everyone would agree that our team (players) is a whole lot better than what it showed against New York, and now, New England. I conclude, then, that at least on two occasions our players have underperformed. It is helpful to apply this concept to other teams. I am most familiar with the Bears. Rarely, if ever, have the Bears players underperformed below their level of talent. Sure they have lost their share of games. But generally they don't underperform. In fact, in my opinion, Lovie gets 99.9 percent out of his players in most games. Can we say the same thing for Chan Gailey? Finally, sometimes a coach needs to get in the face of certain players. Watching on tv, I can't tell if Chan Gailey does this. Was there any attempt to wake up this underachieving crew?

Our defensive backs consistenly fail to look over their shoulder for the ball. How many times have you seen a db "drape a guy" but fail to turn around for the ball. This seems to happen every game. Last week they played off the receivers way too much. Other than Jarius Byrd, I fail to see any DB ever improve. McGee came to our team as an above average player but never really improved over his initial play. McClevin, and Williams, if anything, have gone backwards. Our safeties rarely excel. Even Byrd regressed after his big improvement. As a point of comparison watch the Bears secondary. BTW, Jarius' Dad coaches their secondary. How does our coach keep his job?

Marv as coach can best be told by this true story, as told to me by a closer than close NFL insider. In the Bills first Super Bowl, the Giants decided that they would give the Bills the ground game but take away Kelly's passing game. The Giants believed that Kelly would be too egotistical to take what was given to him (the ground game), in deference to scoring big with passing. The insider told me that if the Bills chose to run the ball it would have been game over for the Giants. The Bills would have been able to control the clock, and keep the ball away from the Giants offense. That was their plan, and it was based on Kelly throwing the ball. Furthermore, I was also told that Marv should have known that wide right would not have worked from that distance on grass. I cannot identify or further describe who the insider is due to confidentiality, but suffice it to say he knew the exact plan.

Kenneth Davis - remember him?

a/k/a "The Texas Tornado"....very good ! -
By the way, Boomer Esiason was either interviewed or called the game on TV. He predicted that Frank Reich had the tools, and mental fortitude to bring the Bills back. Boomer related how QB Reich had brought his Maryland team back from a similar deficit. Boomer was effusive in his praise for Reich, both before and after the comeback!

I had a girlfriend from Detroit, who was, of course, a Lions fan. We both were living in Chicago. She loved to give it to me about the Bills, especially after the first two Super Bowl losses. In any event, I was watching the game on tv in Chicago. She was watching in Detroit. She called me at halftime, and she was having a blast razzing me about the "choking" Bills. I had a great time calling her about an hour later after we won the game. That was an unbelievable game, probably one of the best ever. Reich was a great QB, and the rest of the team was loaded with talent.

Bills signed free agent QB Aaron Corp from U of Richmond.

His contract must be up, or he must be owed a few more million due to some bonus clause in his contract. What an overpaid bust he is!! Whoopee, he made 2 sacks in a game, and I think that gives him 2 for the year, and perhaps 3-4 for his career! -
Anyone with NFL sunday ticket, can you answer this:
rcatty replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have had Sunday ticket for years. Here is how it works. All Sunday afternoon games (not Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday or Saturday games), early and late start: 1 PM EST and 4 PM Est, are listed and will be shown on Sunday ticket unless that game is (1) being broadcast on local, regional tv in your market. So for example, if you live in Chicago, and the Bears are being broadcast on the local Fox channel (Channel 32 in Chicago), they will not be available on the Sunday Ticket channel in Chicagoland and the regional area. If you want to watch the Bears and you are in the area it's Channel 32 or nothing. If you are out of the area, say in Cleveland, Ohio, then the Bears will be viewable on Sunday ticket. I watch all the Bills games on Sunday ticket here in Chicago. However, The Jets game was on the local CBS channel in Chicago (Channel 2) so you had to watch it on Channel 2, not Sunday Ticket. Remember no Sunday Ticket for non-Sunday games. Saturday games, playoffs, Thursday, and Monday, and Thanksgiving, are all available on regular network tv in your local market. You will need to be able to receive your local channels via rabbit ears, cable, antenna or other means to receive those channels. Besides the games, Sunday ticket gives you extras like, pregame shows, player trackers, game mixes and the like. Finally, if you negotiate with Directv, which is a must, you will get a cheaper price, and receive the games free on your smartphone or other device that has the Sunday Ticket app. I get the games on my Android smartphone, at no additional cost, but the reception is spotty at best, and many times not worth the bother. -
Are the Bills the Chicago Cubs of the NFL?
rcatty replied to Since 1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm in Chicago. I always said that when you get your Buffalo Bills membership card, the flip side automatically has you enrolled as a Chicago Cubs member!! -
This is the game they have to have. You are coming off a big win in Toronto, your defense made plays, your offense was competent, but not spectacular, the Jets are over-rated with a "blowhard", big-mouth coach, you are at home, and this team is in your way. If you are serious about advancing and being taken for real....take care of business, now! Seize the time...now!
