  1. Hard to argue with this. So who between Levy and Saban got the most out of their talent? I feel like Levy's teams were really loaded while Saban got a ton out of better than average talent, but not really great overall.
  2. 1965 - my dad and one of my uncles took me to a game at the Rock Pile. I remember is my dad being concerned about whether the car would be where we parked it (which was someone's house) after the game. That was it. I mean, really, if you're born and raised in Buffalo (or other small market towns) what are the chances you're not a Bills fan? Assuming you like pro football.
  3. Absolutely - when you don't live in WNY it sort of is a bond. I ran into a guy at the outerbanks of NC he was decked out in Bills stuff and so was I, we started talking and turned out we went to HS at the same time he in N. Tonawanda and me in Williamsville so that was cool. Wife thinks is strange but she's from Philly.
  4. No kidding....sad. I mean to be lumped in with the Lions in particular is just awful.....the last NFC championship game they played in was 1991 - that would have been some SB - Bills against the Lions - the battle for Lake Erie....their last championship was 1957!!!
  5. Boy, that's pretty ugly company to be in....
  6. I have to agree with you. They had a 9 minute drive I believe where they passed once or twice but pretty much owned the line of scrimmage. It seemed like they were toying with the Bills defense. I can only imagine that if it was a shoot out the Bills would have been outshot....nothing like the Jets to make all things right again.
  7. Me too but I think he looked almost lost or confused the last two games. Couldn't be a better week to get the Jets....hopefully that will bring the confidence back.
  8. They're just not ready to play with the elite teams. Have to shore up that run defense. They need to stomp on the Jets to get their confidence back.
  9. That's a really good insight and I'm one of the people who talks about the "glory" years. For me I consider those to be 88 thru the SB runs. The 88 and 89 teams had most of the pieces of the SB teams but just hadn't quite jelled yet. But boy, that 88 season, after the dark times of the mid 80's was really fantastic.
  10. The test comes in the next two weeks - can they mentally adjust to the loss and give KC a good fight? Monday will be really interesting. Not having the crowd does not help said Capt. Obvious.
  11. I have to agree - this one was not decided by the refs. Maybe this will light a fire under the team and they'll come out of this fired up for the next big game which just happens to be in six days....It seems to me that even during the SB years, the team threw a stinker in there some time in the first half of the season. Then it seemed to snap them back to the task at hand.
  12. I'm really interested in seeing how social media influences the Bills and the fans. Back during the Glory years of 88 to 94 there was no social media, lots of media for sure, but not social media like boards and blogs, and instant opinions and news. Back then there just wasn't enough outlets to report out on every little thing that happened like there is today. It sure is nice to have them in the conversation again though.
  13. My bad. I just recall that got hurt (concussion I believe) and wasn't the same after he came back.
  14. All I can keep thinking about is the year they started 5-0 under Trent Edwards, who is no Josh Allen....he wasn't even Joe Dufek (look it up) and then went 2-8 or something like that. But a very familiar feeling so far - we're all pretty giddy right now. Allen looks fantastic as does the entire offense. Need to get the defense shored up for the games coming. Should be a fun ride....
  15. When I saw the replay of the Carr play I actually thought it appeared to be an incomplete forward pass, albeit a very weak attempt at a shovel pass. But then when I heard the ref say that forward progress was stopped I was really confused.
  16. When you figure it out please let us know! 🙂 That play was a real headscratcher.
  17. But after he gained position and had both feed in bounds, the ball still broke the plane of the goal line and I thought that as soon as the ball breaks the plane the play ends? Is the plane the front edge of the goal line or the back edge? I always thought it was the front end, that the goal line is actually inside the end zone. As noted above, I think the drunken ref play of the game theory is as good as any...
  18. Gosh, sorry to hear that. It was a terrific two weeks for the Bills. I lost my dad some years ago and it sucked. Still does.
  19. The challenge for this team are several in my opinion: 1) The team is one Allen run that ends with a hard hit and a season ending injury away from being mediocre; 2) The defense seems pretty porous, particularly against the run - when your secondary leads the team in tackles like it does now that's not great (Poyer, Hyde, Wallace and Johnson in that order). Its early and the meat of the schedule is ahead of the team. Their attitude seems really positive as it should be. I feel like 10-6 is a very good season and as someone else said, its a better 10-6 than last year based on strength of schedule.
  20. you might be thinking of a Sunday night game with Oakland that same year when the Bills had another great comeback.
  21. I wondered about Virgil myself but could never come up with such a reasonable set of possibilities as yours! I hope its #7 - was tickled to see a TD right in front of Jalen.....
  22. "Hold still, Tyrod, you're so muscular I really need to push hard on this baby....."
