guys, i think jim leonhard standing out has more to do with the talent around him than he. i mean he only plays next to the best safety of all time and on possibly the best defensive dynasty in nfl history. i would be willing to bet that if everyones #1 guy donte whitner played next to ed reed he would getting the same amount of accolades as leonhard

Donte Whitner...

Everyone who says they are done with this team are full of it. They are 348-384-8 with 15 playoff appearance in 48 years. This team has been one of the worst teams in the NFL for the last 48 years with the exception of a few years the early 60's, late 80's and early' 90's. You have all stuck with them through thick and thin for 48 years so i'm pretty sure you're not going to jump ship now. Come sundays next year 73,000 plus will pack the ralph and all of western new york will be tuned into the tube

TheBlackMamba replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
bill cowher is not that good???? yea i guess if you define "not that good" as winning 1 super bowl, going to 2, going to 6 AFC championship games, a record 161-99-1 (.623%)...after taking over for one the the greatest coaches of all time in chuck knoll...yea OVERATED.... -
how about quinn early at receiver?

Donte Whitner lit up by Sammy Morris
TheBlackMamba replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
guys honostley as a #8 overall pick i need donte whitner to put sammy morris on his back. you think ed reed, troy polamalu or bob sanders gets laid out like that hurt or not? i dont think so. -
Anyone who thinks that ralph would actually hire a bill cowher, bill parcells (if he opts out of his current contract), scott pioli, marty schottenheimer or the prime minister of england but you are living in fantasy land. the bills havent had many high profile guys and when they ralph has fired them or let them walk (i.e. bill polian and john butler). it all starts from the top down and until ralph realizes that he is part of the problem and not the solution we are going to keep going through these miserable seasons with retread coaches, gm's who arent up for the job and talent personnel who are inept. I'm sure it makes the work day go by faster or gives you all a hope for things better to come by thinking up all of these wonderful big name guys but they aint comin here

Guys i hate to break it to you, but nothing is going to happen. We are going to have the same bunch of hacks running this organzation. Dick Jauron is probably 50-50 to come back next year. It starts from the top down and until Ralph acknowledges that he is part of the problem and not the solution we are going to keep going through these re-tread coaches and half asked gm's and personnel people.

Did anyone else notice how the supposed "hard hitting safety" was lying flat on his back for a good 10 seconds after Sammy Morris absolutely trucked him?
-
Did anyone else not notice we were missing peters on sunday??? The guy is going to his second (undeserved) pro bowl which is going to increase his leverage in the contact this off season. He is probably going to want to be paid like the best left tackle in football which he has every right to command. I think that if he is our best player and we win without him then whats the sense of paying him ridiculous amounts of money when there are more holes to fill. If the bills dont offer him an extension this off season it is going to lead to another hold out. Right now he is probably saying "sh*t, i can hold out all off season, miss a game and play like sh*t for most of the seaon and still go to the pro bowl". Plus he said everything i need to know about his character last week when he said "this is what i play for, to go hawaii". Actually jason as herm edwards said "you play to win the game" and win super bowls. He doesnt seem to make the team that much better when he plays and i would assume his trade value is pretty high so get rid of this guy

So The AP Reports Ralph Wilson
TheBlackMamba replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AP reporter john warrow wrote in his column this mouring that during his interview with ralph that tom modrak was going to promoted to ralphs "inner circle". Since the guy has been here he is 49-62!!!! where the F*ck else on this planet can you be promoted by having a winning percentage of sub .500??? We have had a below average to average team at best for 9 years and until ralph sells this team it is not going to get any better any time soon. -
I have done a 180 on leodis. i posted earlier this season that he was a bust. it has become evident that with more experience he has show why he was worthy of the #11 pick last year. He is still a bit raw covering (getting smoked by eddie royal but cutler overthrew him) but he has the makings of a pro bowl corner and return man. the field position he gives us on kickoffs is amazing. denver was so afraid to kick it deep they opted to mostly squib kick. donte whitner on the hand....can someone please tell me why he is recognized as one of the better young safetys in the league?

all of these posts blaming Tom Donahue, Dick Jauron, the Prime Minister of England, and my cousin Harry, you and me, the fat kid from What's Happening are starting to get a tad bit ridiculous. I know i have dont my fair share of finger pointing but the more i think about this team the more i want to start blaming the scouting and pro personnel departments. Where have our late round or early round draft "gems" been (as our pal Mel Kiper would say)?. The only undrafted or late round picks i can remember making an impact are Angelo Crowell and Peters (correct me if i am wrong). It seems to me we should be calling for the heads of Tom Modrak and Jon Guy. Since they have been in charge this decade we have a .429 winning percentage. Do you know who that puts us in a tie with for the worst winning percentage this decade??? The DETROIT LIONS.

Mort was on the Howard and Jeremy morning show this mourning talking about the bills. he didnt miss the oppurtunity to drop his pal tom donahue's name. he was asked if the bills need a "true football guy" in the front office and his response was "they had one in tom donahue".

The call WAS NOT that bad
TheBlackMamba replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you can't trust your QB to run a play like that, then maybe he shouldn't be in the game in the first place? The thing is they DID trust him to run that play (which is why it was called). The problem with the whole situation was the execution of the play. -
The call was not that bad. They were trying to win the game. The whole concept of calling the play time because there was 2:06 left was acutally a good idea. If its incomplete the clock is going to stop anyway and if it works then can run some more time off the clock. The problem with the call is who they entrusted to execute the play. Everyone in the stadium, watching the game and basically anyone who has ever seen Losman play knows he is a turnover machine. Losman botched the play not the coaches. All he had to do was not fumble or throw a pick and he did. If the play is successful everyone is sitting here saying "oh what a great call". But i guess that comes with the territory. In the Cleveland game the coaches were criticized for being too conservative on the final drive with 3 straight runs. Now, when they are agressive and playingto win the game and not playing to lose it they are killed for it.

I was listening to the Herd this mourning, and he brough up some pretty good points. Jerry, as we all know is a meddling owner (sound familiar) and ever since he started making personal decisions the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game. The last time the Cowboys we really good were with Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer (but with Jimmy Johnsons' players). It got me to thinking about Ralph. Neither have been really good since the early to mid 90's. I know the Cowboys have made the playoffs but they flame out everytime they are there. The Bills haven't been good since the end of the Polian/Butler era. The biggest difference is that Jerry Jones spends insane amounts of money to bring in talent and coaches (that he can control), whereas Ralph decides take the cheap way out and settles for average players and average coaches (that he can control)

Lee Evans vs Steve Smith
TheBlackMamba replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's not the purpose of the post. The purpose is to show that the Bills "superstars" lack the playmaking mentallity and attitude that others teams "superstars" seem to have. Lee Evans compared to Steve Smith is an example. Donte Whitner compared to Troy Polamalu or Ed Reed is another. I mean even in the game last night...did you see Jon Beason all over the field? That's how a playmaking middle linebacker is supposed to have an affect on a game...he almost has the same affect as Paul Polusny, no? How about Julies Peppers? Schobel (when healthy) couldn't dream of wreaking havoc on a qb like that...I just don't understand why other teams are able to find the impact players and we haven't really had any for about a decade -
Lee Evans vs Steve Smith
TheBlackMamba replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
VJ read my previous post. The numbers dont lie: i am not saying that at all. what i am trying to see is that he is not the game changer that steve smith is. i dont want to hear about the qb play, the play calling or the putrid offense in general. Here is proof. Mind you that steve smith also had 4 differnet qb's; Jake Delhomms, David Carr, Vinny Testeverde and Matt more, on a 7-9 team last year and one less game Steve Smith: Year Age Tm Pos G GS Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G Att Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G YScm RRTD Fmb 2007 28 CAR WR 15 15 87 1002 11.5 7 74 5.8 66.8 9 66 0 22 7.3 4.4 0.6 1068 7 1 Lee Evans: Year Age Tm Pos G GS Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G Att Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G YScm RRTD Fmb 2007 26 BUF WR 16 16 55 849 15.4 5 85 3.4 53.1 849 5 0
