  1. Not only that but....if Dorsey goes to work as OC under Daboll, the general belief will be that it's Daboll's offense and he's the general factotum
  2. 1) rumor has it he and Wentz got in a pissing contest. I'm not absolving Wentz, but if you're a professional and a football coach, you work it out off the field 2) the Eagles D just plummetted when Pedersen took over as OC/HC IOW....NOT a fan
  3. Beane says they have a list, guess we'll find out who's on it
  4. Trubisky? He's done more and has better stats than a bunch of guys who are starting or lined up to start. I'm not saying he's a top 10 or a top 15 QB based on last year's performance, but I think he can make a strong case to be better than 8-10 guys who started last season.
  5. Are you talking about Trubisky or Webb? If Trubisky, his agent is going to be listening for offers to walk in as the starter. If it's true that Mara etc have expressed strong support for Jones, then it's Jones job to lose, and Trubisky is going to be waiting to see if he's offered a starting job
  6. Trubisky is a FA and some feel he's going to get offers to start
  7. Daboll practically lights up and glows when he talks about Webb. My guess would be Davis Webb coaching career starts now.
  8. So....here's this guy's blurb off twitter G.T Bobby Thompson @BThomps81 NFL Journalist covering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for @Bucs__Report New England Patriots for @crowworthytakes @FanSided @RamblinFan I guess random people do get scoops sometimes, but any reason why we think he's plugged in?
  9. I don't have time to go through all of these - can you say more about this? Or at least point at the timeline in this episode where he says stuff? How is this parallel? No one thinks McKenzie has "character" concerns, surely? And even McDermott has said very positive things about McKenzie at times.
  10. This is a really key point that I haven't heard discussed too much. Caveat that I'm one who really needs all-22 to dissect what we're doing with coverage, and I haven't been watching as much this season. I never got Gamepass resolved. That said, my impression is that since Tre went down, we were playing almost exclusively zone - off-ball coverage. People ask "why weren't we jamming Kelce and Hill at the line", it's because of what you say that I bolded above. Without Tre, we don't have someone who can press and get physical at the line, then recover and not be beat. We just don't. There might be some ways around it - but it would involve amazing handoff and communication skills that are hard to pull off without causing coverage breakdowns, so you have to be careful you don't lose more than you gain with them. By the way, I also agree completely with your comments on blitz-heavy defenses. I think one reason Don Martindale got the heave-ho is that the Ravens decided his defensive scheme, subtitled "1001 different looks to blitz from", wasn't effective 1) in the modern NFL, against a more mobile QB 2) without that elite 'finisher' they just didnt' have after Judon left, and that is expensive in FA and hard to find in the draft.
  11. Well, first off - Burrows was sacked 50 times this season - that's not all on his OL. And he may well get sacked less as he learns more about reading coverages and setting protections and knowing where his answers are - his mind. My point is, he's not just getting sacked because his OL sucks, he needs to develop his mental abilities too. And he, too, is relying on his physical tools. Allen already relies less on his legs and more on his mental understanding of the game, and this IMO will only continue to improve. When it does, he will still have that "you can defend this play perfectly and I will still beat you" factor. This season, without a real running game, the Bills made a calculated decision to run Allen on designed runs to help open up the passing game. Just as Burrows can improve his longevity if he 1) has a better OL 2) learns more about "his answers" so he doesn't get whacked so much, Allen can maintain his physical abilities if the Bills improve their OL and their run game.
  12. That’s sarcasm? Pro football writers association, legit journalism group
  13. When I say at times, Daboll's situational play calling still doesn't make sense to me, this is an example of what I mean. Morse in his post game presser mentioned a couple of drives in the 3Q where if they could have sustained them and scored points, the game might have been different. The bottom line is that the Bills scored 5 TDs and punted 4 times. The Chiefs punted twice, kicked 3 FG and missed a 4th. Changing that ratio (either by the Bills defense, or the Bills offense) changes the game. Then maybe it doesn't come down to 13 seconds and a coin flip.
  14. Judging by how she looks in that outfit, I would say she's doing just fine with time as it is
  15. I'm going to just let Dawson Knox address this: Even Kurt Warner is starting to be more positive. He still wants Josh to take more of the "easy throws," (I think Josh and his coaches would agree, and Beane said something in his post season presser about Josh's development this season was being able to more quickly take what the defense was giving him), but even Warner has started to concede that Josh not taking the throws Warner thinks he should take, is more than made up for by Josh Doing Josh Things to defenses. Or maybe he's starting to realize that if a guy throws as many TDs as incompletions in a game, you look like a tool if you spend too much time ragging on him for his technique. Even PFF is starting to "get it": Of course the love for Burrow is "off the chart" in the comments, his team is still playing while Herbert's fans and Josh's fans are still licking their wounds
  16. I'm sorry to bump this thread, but I just want to park this beautiful photo of Cris Collinsworth somewhere on this site in case I feel the need for it next season
  17. Yep. Along with several other candidates: I've been tracing back various "buzz" about Daboll being the favorite to become Dolphins head coach, and it all seems to cite that one NY Daily News article. https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/ny-dolphins-head-coach-search-brian-daboll-20220127-753mjkwd2nfbzazi4br77rexom-story.html That article cites "Several league sources believe Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is the favorite to be the Miami Dolphins’ next head coach." Who are these league sources? Are they actually plugged in to the Dolphins decision making process? Or are they basically just guys around the league, who are connecting the dots that Daboll worked with Tua in college and has had success developing one young QB.
  18. In his end of season presser, Beane made it clear that he and McDermott had a list of names both internal and external; they value Josh Allen's opinion and value Dorsey but would do their "due diligence" (the term he used).
  19. Jordan Palmer himself pointed out that there's no substitute for actual experience playing in big games - it's not something he can replicate or the Bills coaches can replicate during drills or practice. Similar would be true learning to manage as the HC in big games.
  20. Well, they did improve from 7-9 to 10-7, so there is that
  21. Since timing is key, that would be a skill requiring the team to practice. He could work on the touch/accuracy of his short passes and passes to the flat, which is an area he can still improve.
