  1. The point here is that Belichick's texts were said to have been sent on Monday. Reacting then would be reacting to 3rd party hearsay. Daboll's second interview was Tuesday. Even if he did walk away feeling pretty positive or having hints, it's not a messy moral situation unless he was actually told "you're our guy, we want to hire you" and they then got his agent on the phone and completed ironing out the contract details to the point where it was a true "done deal". And we have no information at all that suggests this happened during his 2nd interview on Tuesday. Yes, if he was actually presented with a verball offer and a contract on Tues and took it home to review with his agent, he would be "part of a sham" of Flores Thursday interview, but the information in Flores lawsuit (Belichick's "Ooopsie!" texts) is way way way short of that - and in fact, implies that Belichick was telling Daboll something he didn't know.
  2. If you bothered to familiarize yourself with the details (again, given up thread) Belicheck is supposed to have sent those texts 3 days before Flores interview. Daboll's second interview was 2 days before Flores interview. So if Daboll was supposed to react to Belichick's alleged texts (which you would have to assume were re-sent to the correct Brian) by advising his former co-worker Flores that "the fix was in" (as you put it), he would have had to react before his own second interview. Let me guess, your day job is writing tacky fantasy stuff. This
  3. Well... and maybe you or someone else here can answer this...I thought a lot of McDaniel's success was based on Deebo Samuel, who seems to be a bit of a unicorn in terms of his skill set. Do the Dolphins have anyone with a remotely similar skill set, or would there be someone like that in the draft? Also Sports Illustrated just ran a piece suggesting that McDaniel should turn down the job https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/why-49ers-oc-mike-mcdaniel-should-turn-down-miami-dolphins-head-coaching-job
  4. The scheduled interviews seem to get pretty well followed in the media (I assume the coaches agents leak them if nothing else) I think what's dumb is to HAVE your two front runner coaches be white guys, whether or not the info gets out there. But that could just be me. However, McDaniel is reported to have a Black Father. Evidently there was an NBC Sports interview with him last year where he spoke about his family background. Whether he considers himself Black or would count as a minority hire, I can't tell you.
  5. OK, we'll leave you to them, and to stew with your thoughts about Daboll being a douche and Schoen "looking bad". Sounds like you Giants fans get the organization you deserve.
  6. That's you making an assumption that Daboll knew he had the job (before he interviewed for the 2nd time, which would be unusual and has not been claimed). What IS true is that if Daboll told one of his competitors for the job that it was already Daboll's job so the other guy shouldn't bother interviewing, before he had his second interview or discussed contract details or signed a contract, then he certainly would be a douche if something fell through on either side and he didn't take the job (which has happened), but the other guy took himself out of the running on his word.
  7. There was no Mara suddenly desperately wanting to hire Flores. You can't have it both ways. If all decisions are made by Mara, then he signed off on Daboll or signed off on Schoen having fate control over the coaching hire. If you think "of course" Mara told Belichick they were planning to hire Daboll, then Mara looks bad, Schoen does not look bad And in neither scenario does Daboll "look like a douche"
  8. All of this is covered in links up thread - the supposed timing of Belichick's tweets, Daboll's 2nd interview, and Flores 2nd interview. No assumptions
  9. Think you just slipped and fell into a Sar Chasm
  10. Good for him, and Good for us - but he's no Kelce with the rest of his stats (receptions per game, yards per game, yds per target, yds per reception, 1st downs - etc) It's gonna be his contract year, and he's probably gonna want big-boy TE money. Has he done enough to merit that from us, on a tight budget? At a minimum, the Bills need more than one TE and Sweeney is Not That Guy. It's supposed to be a good draft for TE.
  11. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/mike-mcdaniel-to-interview-again-with-dolphins-on-thursday/ar-AATndVg https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news/dallas-coach-hire-kellen-moore-finalist-miami-dolphins-move-jim-harbaugh 🤷‍♂️
  12. This mostly seems to be about Harbaugh, and we have a new thread after he announced he would return to Michegan Maybe we can make a new thread for updating the Miami Dolphins head coach search or talking about Mike McDaniel?
  13. I think it's way worse. Yes, O'Connell has worked himself up the ranks relatively quickly, but he's been a position coach and has been an OC for 3 years for 2 different teams, and is about to take his team to the Superbowl. It's been an overall trend to hire "hot" young coaches from the Offensive side of the ball, over far more experienced Defensive guys: McVay was hired with 3 years as OC and 3 years as a position coach, and went to the Superbowl his first year. Zac Taylor was hired with 2 years as OC (one for the Dolphins and one for a college) and 5 or 6 years overall NFL experience and hey, Watch This. It's hard to argue it's inappropriate when it's a pattern that has had demonstrated success, and the position coaches for championship teams are typically a hot commodity. McCown has NO coaching experience. None. Zilch. Zippo.
  14. So according to that article, the Texans three finalists include "former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores and Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon." Hiring a guy with no NFL coaching experience over Flores and Gannon would NOT be a good look for the hiring processes of NFL teams
  15. OK, so make up your mind. Either the Giants response is true and correct - in which case Schoen does not look bad and Flores suit is a sham or Your info was very wrong and Daboll was the leading candidate as soon as Schoen was hired - in which case Schoen still doesn't necessarily look bad, because we see from past history (like McDaniel and the Colts) and even this season (Leftwich and the Jaguars) that the leading candidate doesn't always wind up being hired, in which case the job goes to the best remaining guy with his hat in the ring. Pick one In neither case is it clear that Schoen looks bad or is a puppet, and calling Daboll a douche just looks like your nose is out of joint from bad info.
  16. None of those guys are free agents. All of those guys may be available for trade - or, they may not. Their teams would take on massive dead cap to trade them, so they will want to be handsomely compensated with draft picks that would weaken the organization. And of course for Watson, there are these little legal issues I agree that Trubisky won't want to go to a team that is drafting a QB this year, but it's said to be a weak class, so he could go be a bridge guy, with a chance to earn the job.
  17. I've heard this suggestion before, and I like it for him. Pittsburgh has a good team, if they had a QB. But what I really want to know is: if Trubisky departs in FA, do the Bills get a comp pick?
  18. We have no idea whether Schoen screwed up or not. He has no particular ties to Belichick that I know of. He worked for the Panthers, then Dolphins. Why would anyone thing Schoen would be reaching out to Bill Belicheck to give him the inside track? Until/unless someone comes up with info about exactly what was said to Belichick by whom, I think you mis-spelled "my inside info turned out to be wrong and I look like ........." Why would Schoen leak info to Belichick? He has no ties to him that we know of. And of course Daboll doesn't look like a douche, except to a guy who spent his last week here claiming he had inside info that Flores was their guy from a "friend" who works for Mara and posting little sneers at Dabs.
  19. Indubitably. But why do you believe it was Wallace mistake and not the play call?
  20. To date it has not been an issue - there has been no shortage of guys willing to interview on the hope of a chance. Even where Demeko Ryans turned the Vikes down, Giants DC Patrick Graham flew on in for the interview
  21. Sooooo........wonder if DeMeko Ryans, the reported front-runner at one point, now thinks differently of his decision to forgoe a second interview? Yesterday's "sham" is tomorrow's "clincher" when the #1 choice goes away
