  1. Do your own research. Note that I'm in no way supporting Flores contention about the interview. But Elway had a Party Hearty reputation for giving his liver a workout as a player and onward. There are all sorts of Youtube clips and stories out there.
  2. So that's a pretty disparate group Pelissaro references. George Warhop is 60. He was most recently OL coach of the Jaguars. He's been coaching OL in the NFL since 1996 and coached in college before that. Parts of his resume are not inspiring. Ryan Wendell is our own in-house candidate. He played OL for the Patriots (under legendary Coach Scar) for 8 years, for the Panthers 1 year. He played center and RG and was part of the Superbowl team that beat the SeaSnakes. He's been a coaching assistant 1 year, then Assistant OL coach for 2 years. He's got the longest player resume and the shortest coaching resume. He's 35. Phil Rauscher has been coaching in the NFL since 2015, with Denver, Washington, and Minnesota. He played OL at UCLA for 3 years then got injured. He was promoted from assistant to interim OL coach under Bill Calahan in 2019, assistant OL coach with the Vikes for 2020, and promoted from assistant OL coach to OL coach this season. He's 36 and is said to be loud and high-energy. Given some of the OL coachs on the market, none of the 3 have me particularly enthused
  3. Beane referred to our current OL as "something to build on". To re-build 3/5 of the OL would take a lot of high draft picks and budget. Is this even a good draft for OL? Anyone?
  4. This is from 2018 or 2019 - Robert Foster is in the video. It's my understanding that the blue and white bracelet Allen is still wearing today on his left wrist is a "Never Give Up" bracelet honoring Cade
  5. 'Cause unless we turn over like 3/5 of our OL we pretty much suck at it between the tackles, and if we run outside zone our RBs aren't fast enough to get there So this lady is the Vikings ESPN reporter (analogous to Marcel L-J with the Dolphins or Alaina Getzenberg with the Bills) But there's nothing from the Bills side that I can find Morse is just not and never will be a strong zone blocking guy for the run game.
  6. I believe that's correct - it's not zone, it's "pin and pull". The problem is that zone blocking requires more power to just shove people out of the way, and while Dawkins and now Spencer Brown and perhaps Williams can do this, it's not a style of run blocking Morse can do well. So which is it? Are we hiring Rauscher, or is there no decision yet?
  7. I agree with the last statement. I also agree about the "baggage" (though the short time was, like, 3 years) I forget who it was, but someone well-known and successful as a coach advised that after a failed HC stint, the best thing that coach could do would be take a year off to process and reflect, because I think there's inevitably a lot of baggage that goes with the experience. 2nd best thing if concerned for getting "out of the business" would be to step back to being a coordinator. In Flores case, he never had been a coordinator (hot or not). He was a LB coach in NE who got a big step to be the Dolphins HC. I saw growth in Brian Daboll - how he handled himself with the media in ways that indicated personal growth, and at times that showed with the players - while he was an OC here. I Get It - he was Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take It Any More and persuaded himself that he had a Public Duty to blow the lid off the NFL. And maybe it will. Or maybe it won't change very much in the end, and it would have been better for him to take a DC position (sure he would have gotten one), process, look for some education in how to "win friends and influence people", and then in due time get another chance. Time will tell.
  8. Both his daughters are very attractive and seem to take after their mom in looks. But I think they also effectively make my point that "racial ancestry" and "appearance" don't necessarily align very well, so it's pretty silly for the guy I was answering to demand that McDaniel "23 and me" to verify the race of his father because McDaniel doesn't "look black"
  9. You're off a few years. The allegation about tanking pertains to 2019, when the idea was the Dolphins would "Tank for Tua". Instead, they won 5 games.
  10. Darryl Talley. That's his younger daughter Gabrielle who played volleyball with the Hokies and UAB.
  11. I think the whole point of all this is, judging by the outcome (who gets hired), the only special treatment black coaches are getting is to whack their heads against a "glass ceiling" - and that the "special treatment" they are getting (Rooney Rule) is a sham. By some standards, though, Flores in fact got special treatment - he skipped directly from being a LB coach with the Patriots to being a HC, without ever being a coordinator. Measured against the experience and qualifications of a number of candidates, he's missing some pieces that might help him develop as a coach to go back and collect. He's qualified for sure, but he's not in a good place to argue that he's clearly got the best qualifications or experience in the room.
  12. Ha! No, he's been working for Rico Dennison, who has been coaching OL since he left the Bills OC gig - last 2 years in Minnesota. This guy Phil Rauscher was the assistant OL coach and got the promotion when Dennison refused to get vaccinated and thus was not allowed to have a position with player contact. Rico Dennison is probably the connection, and it wouldn't surprise me if he picked up the phone and lobbied for his guy with the GMs and coaches he knew.
  13. I wonder how the Bills data would look if it were limited to RBs though? Kirk Cousins has the nimbleness of his grandmother's van, which he drives. How does the data on adjusted sack rate look? The other part of the story is...how would the Bills data look for the first 10 games vs the last 7 (New Orleans -> on)?
  14. I mean, Elway may be respected, but by all reports he used to give his liver a serious workout and can still do so: https://brobible.com/sports/article/john-elway-beer-drinking-story-woody-paige/ If you google "John Elway Drunk" you can find all sorts of video clips of 7 in an apparently inebriated state. I'm sure Flores saw what he saw, but Malazan's point about the value of sticking to more generic observables - when Elway entered the room, observations of his behavior that appeared to signal disinterest etc - and staying away from statements that can potentially be slander/libel/defamation Aside from the subject, but What a Year in the NFL. Deshaun Watson, Brian Flores, now Hue Jackson - just Wow.
  15. The little sarcastic voice inside my head said "But what if Elway shows up drunk or hungover to EVERY interview?" when I first read Flores suit. Why not stick to things they can verify like "showed up 90 minutes late" or generic things that are hard to argue like "appeared disinterested" - instead of stuff that Elway can fire back at with "false and defamatory"? I actually don't think that's true. The Rooney Rule requires that at least 2 external minority candidates be interviewed, and at least one external minority candidate be interviewed in-person. This is a list with dates. I italicized the guys who qualify and added the date of Daboll's interview. GM Brian Schoen was hired on 1/21. Frazier and Daboll both had video call interviews that same day. I believe some of the other candidates had previously had video interviews, because they were under consideration prior to hiring Schoen as the GM. New York Giants Lou Anarumo, defensive coordinator (Bengals): Interviewed 1/23 Brian Daboll, offensive coordinator (Bills): Hired (interviewed on 1/25) Brian Flores, former head coach (Dolphins): Interviewed 1/27 Leslie Frazier, defensive coordinator (Bills): Conducted second interview 1/28 Patrick Graham, defensive coordinator (Giants): Interviewed 1/26 Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator (Cowboys): Interviewed 1/24; remaining in Dallas Supposedly, Belichick sent his texts on Monday the 24th. The Giants look to have had a full panel of 1 per day interviews set up all week, including with their own internal candidate Patrick Graham (who is said to have really impressed the Vikings). So the contention would be that all of those interviews were shams, including Daboll's (because he already had the job as of Monday), Grahams, Flores, and Frazier. My guess would be that someone with the Giants (Mara?) called Belichick to chat about Daboll (probably called earlier about Flores) and Pegula to chat about Frazier and Daboll, and Belichick "read between the lines" that Daboll was likely to be the choice, and texted "Wrong Brian" But having a lead candidate, and actually having made a firm organizational hiring decision, are two different things Yes. That is how it reads to me too - like "I'm Mad As Hell and I'm Not Going to Take It Anymore" day at the lawfirm
  16. This site lists opensource alternatives to various Adobe programs. They present Ardour as an alternative to Audition. https://itsfoss.com/adobe-alternatives-linux/ No personal experience.
  17. Yeah, between the weather and the Senior Bowl, I'm hoping it's just a delay getting the contract and the bodies together. Most of our local media seem fully bought in that Joe Brady's our guy and we got him Sal Capaccio and WGR: New ESPN reporter Getzenberg: Matt Parrino of NYUp: So if it's not really a "done deal" there's gonna be a lot of egg to go around
  18. Interesting that you should say this. John Elway has fired back and says just that. He says he flew in in the middle of the night after completing an interview in Denver https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/john-elway-denies-he-was-hungover-for-brian-flores-interview He says he gave Flores the same consideration and opportunity as "every other candidate", took him "very seriously", and was "fully engaged" A couple people upthread commented about the law firm which is representing Flores as not being the best. Perhaps they have reason. He's also going to show that Belichick's texts reveal insider knowledge that the hiring situation was a "done deal", and were not third-party hearsay.
  19. I understand your point, but during that 1-7 run, the Dolphins had 3 games which they lost by 3 points - 28-31 in OT to the Raiders; 20-23 to the Jaguars; and 28-30 to the Falcons. If Miami pulls off just 1 out of 3 of those, then they're 10-7, swap places with the Pats for #2 in the division, and bump the Stillers out of the playoffs. So they came very close.
  20. Yeah, I'm concerned about the lack of announcement myself
  21. All valid points. He is very athletically talented, and his hands are developing nicely. Still more work to do there, and IMHO more development needed as a route runner/being physical up to his athletic potential on his routes.
  22. That's fair. If you tell me who are the top "big slot" guys I'll redo my data and take them out.
