  1. The call on 3rd and 8 from the Cincy 8 was "Defensive Holding" not DPI. Here is the play And again: Recall DH is holding the receiver beyond 5 yds from the LOS, before the ball is thrown; once the ball is thrown it becomes DPI. It appears to me that Logan Wilson has his L arm in front of Kupp, impeding his motion as he makes his cut. The 2 refs on the sideline are in position to have a better view of this than the camera angle in the above clip. Then as Kupp accelerates, Wilson reaches out with his right arm and hooks around Kupp's right side. I think this is pretty textbook defensive holding. I thought the call was weak sauce, but not because of the penalty (which again, was DH not DPI) was "a bad call" - it wasn't - but because the refs had not been making DH and DPI calls for the previous 58 minutes. The "beef" is in your point that for the integrity of the game, the NFL needs to be consistent - both from game to game (def. not - see AFCCG vs SB last season) and worse, within games (first 58 minutes of this year SB vs last 2 minutes) The DPI penalty called two plays later again appears to be legit DPI by rule, the controversy emerges because these calls simply were not being made earlier in the game. No sympathy for the Bengals here since they were pretty well gifted a touchdown by an uncalled face mask/OPI right after the half.
  2. Let's put the original report out there. It's Florio, who makes his living by generating "clicks", therefore goes in for a lot of speculation https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/02/14/storm-clouds-gather-for-stephen-ross/
  3. "put a ring on it" is a quote from the Beyonce' song "Single Ladies", which is about a woman who broke up with a boyfriend who didn't want to make a commitment to her, then got jealous when she went to a club and attracted other guys: 'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it Don't be mad once you see that he want it If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it For your viewing and listening education in the popular culture
  4. I'd have to save my pennies, but Marv Levy would definitely be "IT" for me, ramble, don't ramble, quote poetry, cuss, WhatEvs.
  5. I don't think they keep Jerry Hughes for $3.8M. That would put him down into never-was older player territory like Benson Mayowa or Mario Edwards. Hughes had a cap hit of $9.4M with a salary of $6M last season and a $1M roster bonus, so that would be quite the haircut. Maybe $5M, which is Dawuane Smoot/William Gholston territory. OTOH, Hughes is older, and was less productive than they last season. I could be wrong, I just kind of feel that's gonna be a pride point for Hughes. They could make part of it signing bonus, part of it bonus, and split it with a void year to get the cap impact down to $3 or so. Anyway thanks very much for the transcription, much appreciated. Siran Neal is an interesting question. McKenzie says he's the fastest guy on the Bills, and he can play some. As a boundary corner, Hard No, but he's listed as a safety and has played some in nickel and dime in addition to his gunner role on ST. I think it's a good question how much interest would he bring around the league? If you want to get faster as a team, you don't do it by letting fast guys who have shown some playing ability walk. I'm not sure we get Boettger on vet minimum either. He got $2.1M last season, which IIRC was a tender, and he started 10 games. When we brought in Feliciano as a G who had shown he could start and who could play both sides (but, no demonstrated ability to play C at that point), we paid him $2.4-$2.6M salary but his cap hit was $4.x. My guess would be that Bobby Johnson is going to look for someone to bring into NY Giants who can help teach his system, and Boettger (and Feliciano if we cut him, or flip him cheap) would be prime candidates - While Aaron Kromer probably has some similar players in mind he'd like to bring in to teach his. Harry for $15-18 sounds good
  6. I think the point might be that reportedly Flores lied to Tua as well as the press, during the season - and is now admitting the previous lie along with the truth But, I'm not sure
  7. More than one thing can be true Brian Flores can be discrediting Brian Flores AND NFL teams can be acting in poor faith with regard to minority hiring AND The Shield can do everything it can to protect itself and discredit those who it seems as threatening
  8. https://www.nfl.com/news/super-bowl-lvi-referee-tee-higgins-td-reception-jalen-ramsey Higgins was pretty clever about it, but you don't see a CB with inside leverage twist his head to the side, throw his arms up to keep his balance, and fall without some kind of OPI
  9. Seems to me Brian Flores is trying to discredit Brian Flores, with assistance from Wigdor (his law firm) He didn't have to have his law firm state that the Broncos staff was drunk when they interviewed him - potentially defamatory and hard to prove at this distance. He could have kept to things he personally could observe and attest to He didn't have to have his law firm issue a statement that took a dump on Lovie Smith while implying that he's such an outstanding HC candidate that no organization could prefer another candidate for legitimate Football reasons etc
  10. I would too, but McDermott has a thing about keeping the veterans in each room. I guess a question is at what point do Harry and Oliver start to count as veterans? I would not be surprised if he wants to keep Hughes as a veteran leader.
  11. I had to go have a look-see at this Cameo thing Looks like Dawson charges $250 and doesn't say where the money goes (not that there's anything wrong with that) Could book Harrison Phillips for $50 and he states it will be donated to non-profits he works with Or Marv Levy for $300 - now THAT would be something!!!!!!! Or Sal Capaccio for $29 😆
  12. If Jerry has enough in the tank to be worth keeping, he won't be signing up for vet min.
  13. I took it as sarcasm I mean, we could have had a damned good try at it, but it has to be remembered that folks thought KC was gonna blow out the Bengals, and they were leading pretty handily until a couple minutes before the half.
  14. Actually just looked it up, and we're both wrong but you're closer. It was 3rd and 8, a 4 yd DH made it 1st and 4. So they got 4 extra tries for the EZ regardless of the 2nd penalty making it 1st and 1
  15. Thanks. Something will materialize for Wallace, I'm sure of it. Remember anything about Justin Zimmer?
  16. As an objective call, I thought the holding call was justified from the camera angle I saw - LB had his arm hooked around Kupp's waist impeding him. It only stood out to me because of all the earlier no-calls, like the OPI you referenced Question: is 4th and 4 = 4th and long to you? Agree that OBJ was a huge loss to the Rams 1 minute 25 sec but who's counting?
  17. I thought he showed pretty good pocket sense and mobility vs. the Chiefs for a QB who is not noted for his "dual threat" chops. I think something the Rams adjusted in the 2nd half was confusing him, and for sure confusing the Bengals OL which started to look like swiss cheese. Oh now that's an interesting thought
  18. Many thanks for the summary Can you remember if they said anything about our FA? Harrison Phillips, Levi Wallace, Siran Neal (fasted guy on the team), Justin Zimmer, Ryan "Rick" Bates, and Isaiah McKenzie would be a few of interest to me.
  19. Allen not injured in 2020 Rams game. Starting G were Ford and Winters. Pretty sure Donald lined up over Winters, who was flagged for holding and illegal block several times. That was the game where Allen got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after an uncalled face-mask, horsecollar tackle, and strip sack by Donald. He later got a facemask penalty called on him - the play by play does NOT adequately describe the mayhem of that down. You may be thinking of Joey Bosa in Chargers game, who tackled Josh outside the pocket and corkscrewed him down, injuring his knee (thankfully, not badly)
  20. It shows enormous (Ha!) lack of self-awareness. Your team just lost the Superbowl, and part of the "L" was having your "Comeback Player of the Year" QB take 7 sacks on his reconstructed knee, and injure his knee to boot. This is NOT the right time to be chirping with someone on twitter and calling them "a B word on the field and off the field" Just log out.
  21. I think Beane recognizes this. His comment on the OL during his end of season presser was that it was "something to build on"
