  1. I resisted for 12 hrs. ------------ "I really want Fitzy to come back for this season" Oh yeah? Well, I want a pony! And a ticket to Aruba! Seriously, though, the Fitzpatrick Curse is real and I want it NO WHERE NEAR OUR JOSH You don't think Ryan Fitz deserves "on the list" of "long-time veterans starting to think about retirement"? Colt McCoy led 'Zona to a 2-1 record while Murray was out
  2. Same rules. Football related = allowed. Politics, general covid comments about what is or isn't science blah blah = still no. That word "cancelled" lost all credible meaning when a guy with 10s of millions views platform whinges about it. This is a football forum, and we ask that the convo focus on football. Makes sense to most folks here.
  3. I mean, in his end-of-season presser Beane pretty much said Haack was inconsistent and they'd be looking elsewhere
  4. Yeah, Vaughn mentions him in that article as "nil savings" I'm not sure it's correct Haack's salary fully guarantees, though. Spotrac and Overthecap seem to disagree https://overthecap.com/player/matt-haack/6094/ https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/matt-haack-22270/ I think Haack is gone, based on what Beane said. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/extension-for-stefon-diggs-tops-ways-bills-can-save-loads-of-salary-cap-space/article_ecfe947a-94eb-11ec-be32-b7778e4f892c.html
  5. Yes, a post-June1 cut does help the team sign draft picks It also helps the team absorb a cap hit from a vet who might be cut after the draft or after camp It just does not help the team's cap during March/April FA
  6. According to news reports, the number was 762. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/9/20/22683886/buffalo-bills-season-ticket-holders-take-advantage-one-time-refund-following-covid-vaccine-mandate Of course, others may have sold their seats, but a number of season ticket holders do that every year so I'm not sure how one would determine the motivation.
  7. Pretty good analysis https://www.houstonpress.com/news/kyler-murrays-agent-pens-bizarre-contract-plea-on-twitter-12920560 Point one: on the internet, ALL CAPS = SCREAMING Point two: FACT CHECK = FAIL. Agent states that Cardinals are the only team to have improved by 3 wins each season in the last 3 seasons. That's wrong. And, as the article points out, "you have to play for an uber-crappy team just to have the mathematical space to improve that much over three seasons" Then there's the "QB loaded NFC": And last but not least: Spell check! (choses vs chooses)
  8. It's not just that, but Kyler Murray's last game was a total meltdown: 2 picks, the "Fail Murray" etc. At that point, you would like to see the QB focused on becoming a better player who makes better decisions. Sure, football is a business, but Murray employs PR people and agents. He'd do himself more favors having the former highlight his plans for improvement in the off season and letting the latter tend to his contract negotiations in private.
  9. I see what you did there hee hee Seriously, though, why stop at the Daniel Jones debacle? The Giants screwed up when they "bet the season" on the Ghost of Eli Manning for a couple years.
  10. Good article in TBN  by Mark Gaughn. Tantalizingly, before Joe Schoen was hired by the Giants, he said he was "working on the salary cap" for the Bills and "they're going to have some money". This was sweet news to us fans because Spotrac has us at -$2.2M. Gaughn correctly identifies a Stefon Diggs extension as the #1 way the Bills could save some $$: Gaughn points out other cap savings targets including Beasley, Klein, Feliciano, and (after June 1) Lotulelei. However, he omits the "Elephant in the Room": Edmunds is due $12.7M guaranteed on his 5th year option. Extending him could lower that cap hit to half or less. I think Gaughn is mistaken on this point: As Jason Fitzgerald of OvertheCap explains: So no, this does NOT allow the team to get the extra cap relief early. Since that's a 2013 article I went looking for something more recent which gives the same information: Again, confirmation that designating a March cut "post June 1" does NOT give the team extra cap relief during March FA. It does allow them to avoid paying roster bonuses, but the rest of the salary cap remains on the books until...after June 1.
  11. I mean, guys who play the game are paid the big bucks, the QB is the most important player on the team, so yeah, good QB are "that special" That said, Kyler pretty well melted down in his playoff game, in a worse-than-Allen-vs-Houston way 137 yds passing on 34 attempts, 0 TD, 2 INTs 6 yds rushing The "Fail Murray" pick-6 was as clueless a play as any I've seen from a QB, ever And then we get to, if the Cardinals hadn't "melted down" from a hot start to a 2-4 finish including losses to the Lions and Seasnakes....maybe they're not playing the Rams in the Wildcard round That might not be the best time for your "camp" to start fluffing you up as the long term savior who should get immediate action on the contract your camp proposes
  12. ?? It’s not going at his feet, it’s gone into his pocket Cccccc
  13. The defense has not looked good when Dodson was playing MLB (pretty sure that was the first Mia game of 2020). To be fair, he had Klein playing next to him so both starting LB were out. If Edmunds is such a mediocre player, what team is going to give the Bills "good value" for a 1 yr rental of a guy with $12.7M guaranteed salary?
  14. Dude, try to keep up. The Bills picked up Edmunds 5th year option during the available window for that decision - last May https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/03/bills-exercise-josh-allen-tremaine-edmunds-fifth-year-options/ Bills already owe Edmunds $12.7M guaranteed salary for 2022
  15. I heard an interview with Matakevich last season where he talked about Edmunds and how "it's his team" and how he leads during the week and on the field. It wasn't a Bills interview, it was one of those external podcasts and he came across as sincere and un-scripted. He was taking little pokes at some of the other guys - evidently Milano and Hyde are both fashionistas and spend a lot of time getting their "look" perfect before they leave the locker room.
  16. I think sexual assault and rape might count as violence against women: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/antonio-brown-investigation-lawsuit-trainer-rape-accusation/32meh1uotus1kcorpawbkr3f IMHO beating a male truck driver oughta count against AB too, just as it counted against Kareem Hunt when he punched a Put-in-bay guest in the face: https://nypost.com/2020/04/04/antonio-brown-charged-in-alleged-truck-driver-assault/
  17. The NFL suspended Dodson for 6 games so they believed there was credible evidence of "something" Dodson was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, assault/domestic violence and damage to property Here is a description of the allegations: https://sports.yahoo.com/bills-rookie-tyrel-dodson-arrested-on-domestic-assault-other-charges-225308094.html -he grabbed her "forcefully" and shoved her against the wall -he slapped her, after she slapped him -she locked herself in the bathroom and he broke the door down -he shoved her to the floor in the kitchen -the argument was so loud a neighbor was concerned for the woman and knocked on her door to check on her -she left the apartment and when she returned, found that Dodson had taken her car keys, $500 from her purse, and money from her safe under the bed Dodson settled by entering a pre-trial diversion program for the domestic violence charge and agreeing to make restitution of the money, upon which the other charges were dropped. Now I'm not saying the Bills shouldn't have signed him. He did his counseling/diversion program and hopefully is a better man. But from the description given, I'm willing to bet that would look at least as bad or worse than Kareem Hunt's incident. And Dodson was actually arrested, charged, and suspended by the NFL. So I don't think we should conclude that the Bills would never sign a player who has anything in his past.
  18. Niiiiiice I totally missed that he did that there Good catch Tyrel Dodson?
  19. I agree with everything you say And yet, we've had one of the most expensive DLs in the league the last several years - most expensive in 2019 and 2020 and 2nd most expensive in 2021 The ROI has been poor, but further - it begs the question, if our FO's judgement is to invest this massive expenditure with such poor RoI, what's the problem? Is it a scheme which is too complex and finicky where guys can't play free? Is it player personnel evaluation being poor on DL? What? Again, these are very fair points, but as to the DL, it's pretty clear that it's not performing as well as 1) other DLs around the league 2) as well as expected - both McDermott and Beane have indicated as much. Independent of Edmunds, it's a fair expectation that we should be able to have what other teams have, a better performing DL, and to ask if scheme or personnel evaluation is at fault
  20. I mean, Beane hasn't been trotting around OBD wearing horseblinders, he knows who is in line to be paid and when
  21. Um, all respect, but I think this is a little contradictory. If Wood "almost screwed up" by having a presser and saying he was retiring, that implies that in fact, if he had screwed up and said he was retiring, Wood would (see what I did there?) have opened himself up to the money being recouped. If it was "nearly impossible for teams to recoup that money", then it wouldn't matter if Wood said "Yo, I'm retiring!" to the press
  22. It was reported (including by a guy who had some inside gouge) that the Bills were interested in Hunt before Cleveland signed him in Feb of 2019. Apparently the Bills were still doing some "due diligence" and talking to people while Cleveland pulled up with a pen and a contract. Doesn't sound like a 0 percent chance. I think the Bills are interested in character, but they are also interested in making their own determination on that point (they signed Tyrell Dodson and kept him after he was arrested for domestic violence and then suspended for 6 games) https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bills-rookie-lb-tyrel-dodson-arrested-for-domestic-violence/article_55dce20e-3124-5ef4-b03c-710624279a2f.html https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/nfl-suspends-bills-tyrel-dodson-games-domestic-abuse-65593699 It doesn't sound like a pretty story https://www.tmz.com/2019/05/30/tyrel-dodson-domestic-violence-buffalo-bills-nfl/ But it also sounds like something a guy could learn, grow, and move on from. I don't see why the Bills might not make the same conclusion about Hunt, if they believe he's stopped punching guys at resorts and kicking women in hotel hallways.
  23. Agreed. To be fair, Hunt being cut was said to be based on more than that one incident (there was an incident where he punched another guest at a Put-in Bay resort in June), and also on Hunt not telling the truth about the Feb. incident (he and his friends said he never came out of the room, which the video clearly contradicts) After his various incidents, there were a substantial (and outspoken) group here who thought he should be cut immediately.
