  1. It's a good question, but I think the trade partner would take on the restructure bonus just as the trade partner takes on a roster bonus if the trade is finalized before it comes due. It's only amortized signing bonuses (already paid out money) that stay with the trading team I think Since posting wrong gouge on the internet is well known as the best way to get correct information, I feel certain we'll be set straight soonest
  2. Spotrac lists Huntley as signed for 1 yr by the Ravens. He's an RFA next year. And not sure I agree on the "perfectly capable backup" thing. He's averaging 2 TO per game.
  3. Huntley? 1-3 but doesn't change the point; he threw 4 picks to 3 TDs and fumbled 4 times. We know W/L isn't a QB stat but all those TO added to only 154 ypg passing, not good enough to win We carry $1.5M dead cap and save $6.1M either way, unless we keep him past 3/20. Then we only save $5.6M ($500k roster bonus) https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cole-beasley-10318/
  4. TBH, I don't know what other slot guys do. I've never seen a listing of "slot WR". If anyone has such, I would love to see it. Beasley has said he's the best slot receiver in the league. Others have said top 3. I legitimately don't know. As far as YAC, in 2019 Beasley was adding almost 5 YAC (4.9) with an 8 yd depth of target In 2020, fell to 4.3 with a 7.8 yd depth of target. In 2021, fell to 3.7 with a 5.6 yd depth of target. While the depth of target/YBC numbers fell more, 1) none of these YAC numbers are zero 2) getting 5 YAC gets you a whole lot more first downs than 3.7 YAC does.
  5. 6.2 yds/target on 112 targets and almost 2/3 of the offensive snaps is not very good production Just for compariso, click to embiggen. Y/Target is the 4th number from the right. The yellow highlighted number is targets (since I had to paste the header in separately)
  6. On the plus side, Cooper is younger (rising 28 vs rising 33) and has multiple thousand+ yd seasons on his resume On the minus side, Cooper brought with him, a $20M cap hit for the next 3 years and in 2020, Beasley did as well or better in Yds/Tgt I think there's a mixed record on asking players to take salary cuts. Addison seemed to do OK with it as a "contract year". Morse seemed motivated and energized. Butler seemed severely demotivated. I am basing this on nothing but "gut feel", but despite his talk of money not being a factor for him and he doesn't care if he plays for free, I believe Beasley would fall into the "demotivated" category. Either cut him, or leave him be
  7. Ask Bojo, as it's a skill he doesn't seem able to manage
  8. I mean, I'm sure it can be done, but in the case of a punt, it impacts the OTHER team's field position the most - rendering the connection to expected points ADDED per punt of necessity, indirect. It will be filtered through the team's defense and the other team's ST. Unless, of course, there's a blocked punt returned for a score, in which case the connection is direct and immediate. Not so?
  9. I don't understand these statistics - they smell of Frankenstats to me - but I'm guessing that having a punt blocked, and especially a punt blocked and returned for a score, has a huge impact. And since Haack isn't the one who whiffed on the block leading to the score, there's an argument to be made that it isn't entirely fair on him. However, in the entirely objective metric "yards per punt", Haack is 32nd in the league at 42.9 y/p. There were 3 punters below him - Harvin of Steelers, Pinion of Tampa, and Charlton of Car and Jax. Only 6 punters had punts blocked - Jake Bailey of NWE had 3, 5 other punters (including Haack) had 1. So that's still bad. Bojo, btw, was mediocre at 15th
  10. I didn't think about the "pre-negotiate new contract" aspect of the permission to seek trade. Good points.
  11. Oh, Stop. Jackson was inactive for the final game of the season in 2019 (after they made the playoffs) and on the Covid list 1 game in 2020. Other than that, he missed 1 game due to a non-covid illness and 4 games due to injury this season. Josh Allen missed 4 games due to injury one year, and arguably should perhaps have missed another couple games after Las Vegas in 2020. What's next, "we don't have a QB who can stay healthy for a sufficient number of games"?
  12. Respectfully disagree. I think GMs who should consider making a play for Beasley include teams with a young QB to develop, who might take a step with a savvy veteran "always open" player like Beasley to throw to. But as for the market you name, I guess the Broncos, Chargers, and Ravens would fit the bill.
  13. LOL that GiantsWire site is just Bat ***** Cray Cray. "Should Giants consider Colin Kaepernick as a backup to Daniel Jones?" "Giants a possible landing spot for Cam Newton?" Then there's this about Cole Beasley: "He can also serve as a punt returner". Beasley last returned punts for the Cowboys in 2018. He returned 11 punts for 61 yds, or 5.5 yards per return. That was 60th in 2018, and I don't think Beasley has gotten faster and more able to endure hits in the ensuing 4 years.
  14. Where was this advertised? I've seen it speculated here, but the official story is that Beasley's agent approached Beane and gave them some spiel and as a result he was given permission to seek a trade. I have not seen or heard any statement from Beane or the Bills or even a "source close to the negotiations" that the Bills asked Beasley to take a paycut. And reporters are in full off-season form MSU (making...up) like Parrino stating that Feliciano was asked to take a pay cut and refused, while Beane says "no, that option wasn't raised".
  15. Of that list, only the SeaSnakes have the cap right now to take on Watson's $35M and not blink Eagles and Stillers are $10M off at $27-$28M, with the Panthers just after them Commanders would need $25M over their current $10M What about the other Ponies (Colts)? Carolina
  16. Could just be me, but when a guy says "it's not about money at all", I think it's a lot about money Hmmm
  17. Just how much of a credible insider is this Jordan Schultz guy? He seems to be the source of all this:
  18. He can do that, if he wants to. It's a fairly standard tactic. But it's a double-edged sword. It would probably be better to settle with a non-disclosure agreement and no acknowledgement of guilt. The saying is "a good district attorney could persuade a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich". But if a district attorney/prosecutor does not exercise that power of persuasion, I don't think it follows that "no indictment = nothing to the case". There could be a plethora of reasons, including influence, political, evidentiary, etc.
  19. Dorsey was "passing game coordinator" last season. At a guess, Beasley may believe that he would have a limited role on the Dorsey-led Bills offense either because he has inside knowledge of the direction that Dorsey would like to take the offense, or because he has an educated guess about other players the Bills would like to draft or bring in. Several players extolled how exceptionally willing Daboll was to take play designs from everywhere. It's possible Dorsey is not as open. Or he may simply want to move away from some of the option route concepts that Beasley brought into the offense (and that seemed to have been solved or partially solved by defensive coordinators last season). Or, as some have speculated, Dorsey may be interested in moving more towards 2 TE sets. If 2 WR are on the field, it's not likely to include Beasley. Also, in 2019 Beasley was given the opportunity for a wider role than just "slot receiver" but the Bills acquired Diggs in 2020 and his role contracted; when the Bills signed Sanders last season it didn't expand any. He may be seeking an offense where he would again, have a chance at a wider role, and with Diggs and Davis he's not gonna get that here no matter who gets drafted. Last and possibly most important, it's a good guess that the Bills will ask Beasley to take a paycut or cut him. Seeking a trade potentially allows Beasley to lock in his current contract (which is pretty good money for a 33 yr old slot receiver). If he's cut, he'll get to pick his team but he also may not get the same money.
  20. That may be the case. The fact is, his # of first downs declined by 19 (34 vs 53). The OP to whom I was responding said he wasn't bothered by Beasley's "lay downs" because "it was after he had the 1st down" There was nothing about the cause of the "lay downs", the point is, his first downs declined in part because of them. And while Beasley is a gladiator-type to want to play while hurt, if he's getting hurt more often the last 2 seasons in part because he's about to turn 33 yo and he's less effective because he's hurt, it does raise legitimate questions as to whether hurt Beasley is really more effective than another player who is uninjured.
  21. My point is that last year's offseason, Beane made it clear his focus was on re-signing our own. This year he said "we’ll look to fill some spots from the outside as well as retain some of our guys" I think that reflects a slightly different focus, but time will tell. If your point is, don't expect Beane to be a big spender or make a "splash" signing, that's probably fair - he said "I wouldn’t see us being like, big spenders or anything like that" as well. It's worth noting that last season, Beane did take on $10.7M of salary cap in 3 FA signings ($8.7M against last year's cap) as well as about 10 "lower tier" FA at or near vet minimum.
