I can't tell you how the TE were being used, but in 2016 Hollister (who is now with Seattle) caught about 1/4 of Allen's passing yards (Gentry had more than half). In 2017 I don't think Wyo had a passable TE on the roster. I personally felt that Ertz was "phoning it in" and not trying with Philly last year. I "get it" that players make career decisions when the team is losing, but I have concern that it becomes a habit, just like anything else a guy keeps doing. It's hard for me to buy that Daboll wouldn't be interested in TE routes. He was the freakin' TE coach in NE fergoshsakes.

The thing is, at this point....the Eagles need $18M of cap space by tomorrow at 4 pm and cutting Ertz gets them like 40% of the way there.... so why would teams trade anything? Also, this year is a bit extraordinary so I don't think we can 100% go by what Beane would ordinarily do. We also need a punter and a punt/kickoff return guy I don't think Beane is gonna wait on restructures, reductions, or releases before he considers other acquisitions. But I also think he knows who he thinks might add value and what he's willing to pay for them, and he won't get "auction fever" and exceed that.

That was a different FO and coaching staff. That said, it was credibly rumored we were seriously "in" on Hunt when he signed with Cleveland but we wanted to do more background, and Cleveland pulled the trigger while we did research. So it seems plausible that the Bills might be interested.

Zach Ertz is not due to be an UFA tomorrow. He is under contract with the Eagles through 2022. I don’t think we need a new thread to discuss every twitter dude’s rumor-Mongering. Ertz is not a free agent. The Bills are not gonna be in contract talks with him unless a trade is under discussion. There’s already a thread about that. Search.
