  1. It's said "the happiest place to work right now is a covid-19 vaccine clinic". Nurses working them say the same thing- they've never seen so many people so happy to get jabbed with a needle and so smiley and friendly.
  2. This. We had the most money in the league invested in DL last year. It's not that they were gawdawful by the end of the season, but the ROI was puny.
  3. Absolutely not. We need to try to get 3-4 guys who can contribute this year. Beane said as much "we need to draft well" If they don't feel there's someone they like at pick 30, Beane will either package some late round picks to move up, or trade back and get a pick. (He's never traded back before, but there's always a first time) Oh, a 2021 2nd round pick AND a 1st round in 2012? I would do that.
  4. I thought Beatherd and Mullens were both free agents? Not listed on the 49ers roster and Wiki says so.... As far as what's been demonstrated, this is inarguable. IMHO Mayfield was a much better QB in college too, but there are those who still argue the contrary and say he mighta been good in the NFL, "if only"
  5. Simon, I'm not questioning your decision on what vaccine to get, but this gouge about the difference between mRNA vaccines and J&J is not quite correct. We all agreed to put the Ix-Nay on Ovid-Cay discussion, but if we're putting wrong info out there, correct info needs to be next to it. Think of these vaccines as being in two parts: 1) the manufacturing instructions, for your body to make the antigen that will stimulate your body's adaptive immune response (in this case, the antigen is SARS-CoV2 spike protein or a portion of the spike protein) 2) the delivery truck, which drives the manufacturing instructions to your human cells 3) your cells then internalize the manufacturing instructions, read them , and get to work making spike protein 4) the spike protein then makes its way to the surface of special cells called "antigen presenting cells" which put your immune system to work gearing up to "repel boarders" So. In the J&J vaccine, the manufacturing instructions are a piece of DNA that will get transcribed into mRNA inside your cells, and the extra instructions that tell your cell "make mRNA out of this thing". Once the mRNA is made, it gets translated into part of the spike protein. The J&J delivery truck is a modified adenovirus shell (absent the adenovirus DNA that would allow it to reproduce or act like a virus). In the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the manufacturing instructions are the actual messenger RNA. The delivery truck is a special lipid particle that protects the mRNA and keeps it from being destroyed before it gets into the cell and does its thing The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines don't "manipulate your messenger RNA". It doesn't cause you to make new or different mRNA. It would need a whole 'nother instruction manual to do that. The mRNA they contain is relatively fragile and gets copied a few times then destroyed, which is the way of mRNA The J&J vaccine isn't "just an adenovirus", it's an adenovirus that is carrying a piece of DNA that gets taken up into your cells and used as a template to make mRNA. So in a sense, you could say it's "manipulating your mRNA" since it causes your body to make something it wouldn't otherwise, but from the biochemical sense you wind up in the same place - with mRNA that makes a viral protein inside your cells - after an extra step. The piece of DNA eventually gets destroyed too. mRNA vaccines have been a "Holy Grail" people have been working on for more than a decade. The technical issue has always been, how to get the mRNA to survive long enough to get taken up into the cell and "Do Work". RNA in general is easily destroyed. And yes, if anyone needs to be told, this is 100% "my lane" and I know way more than the "average Bear" about this stuff.

  7. I agree with you but "Patience my ass I'm gonna Kill Something". Feliciano's contract has not yet shown up on sites like Spotrac and Overthecap, and it seems to me that we're going to have to renegotiate at least one contracts where we convert salary to bonus and "kick the can forward" just to fit him in and have $$ for draft picks - Tre White, Diggs (will want more $$ if we ask) or Dawkins. Matakevich extension has also not shown up.
  8. Good post. Up front, I have been disappointed that the Bills didn't move to add the "speed" they talked about as a gap after the AFCCG, nor the level-up at TE. I am also under-impressed by Njoku. That said: I don't have access to the kind of advanced statistical services that would break this down, but I don't think Daboll and Chad Hall would agree that Diggs can't handle contested catches downfield against most DBs and teams. He can and does. Three lines of evidence: 1) Vikes. How he was used in Minn, especially in 2019 when he had 17.9 YPR, 73% of it YBC. He has been used as a downfield threat. In fact when the Bills made the trade, pundits a-plenty were opining that's why we got him. 2) How DBs play him - a bit of film persuades that most are 100% concerned about letting him by them and he is able to exploit that concern to get open on shorter routes. I think he'd still get open anyway, but some of the spectacular ankle-breaking we see from Diggs seems driven by "don't let him downfield" DB angst. (Hopefully Sanders can still throw down that threat because exploiting that concern is a help to Diggs). 3) Look at the NFL advanced stats charts for Diggs and the routes he ran in the games that are still up there. He is running deep routes and making some catches. Now - Diggs doesn't have tip-top speed and there are some corners who can hang with him, obviously not true of Tyreek Hill who can beat anyone. Diggs has to get a move on the guy and take off, vs just taking off. But he does, and he does make those contested catches. A few thoughts, kind of spitballing: 1) I don't think the Bills have confidence in the deep ball as a premier weapon for Josh just yet. He improved to average or above average, but I think a deeper dive would show that most of the improvement is in the 20-40 yd throws, not the true deep bombs. You can also kind of see that in the passer stats - Josh is now top-5 in 20+ yd throws but only top-10 or so in 40+ yd throws Chicken/egg - is that because he can't reliably hook up with the WR in that range, or because he doesn't have a guy who can get down there and get open, fast enough? 2) We brought back our OL, which I considered "good not great" for pass protection. Deep plays are long developing plays. Maybe the Bills are being strategic about "where can we add one moderately priced guy who can make a difference"? and the decision is it's easier to add a guy who can get open fast on those short to intermediate routes, than it is to revamp the OL for great pass protection AND add a speedster who is able to quickly develop as a proficient NFL WR (not a Jonny one note), given the limited cap. 3) I do think the Bills were strategic in bringing in Hollister. I see him as a Knox-type guy, less athletic potential and better football resume to date. I think that could be a needed "shot across the bow" to Knox "nothing is given, everything is earned" 4) On the speed back who can get to the edge thing....except for the very very top guys, it seems to me most of them still rely upon getting a block from the WR and TE, and that was, mmm, kinda spotty last year. Anyway, good post and I hope the Bills will address this in the draft and possibly the remainder of FA, because so far there's a gap between what were identified as needs post-season and what the Bills have done. I guess one last thought. Unless they can fill the rotation with young guys, I feel that the insistence on a full (and expensive) rotation of DLmen is unsustainable. The ROI for our DL just sucks, and is hampering team-building efforts elsewhere.
  9. Got the jab Feb 5th. Drove 3 hrs and 200 miles one way, back on Feb 26 for #2. Pfizer. No problems. Sore arm, bit of fatigue but 6 hrs of driving can do that. What @SinceThe70s said, that's how it is here. If you're able and willing to travel away from the population centers appointments are relatively available. If you can't, much tougher. Have since successfully helped 6 qualified folks obtain local appointments. Shouldn't be this way but, It Is What It Is. HA serves you right!
  10. What I think they might want as an upgrade is a guy who is just as fast (sure, faster would be nice) who can't be neutralized by physical DBs quite as easily as McKenzie. It would be kinda nice to hang on to the guy who has shown he can play until the draftee shows he can do it. But you're right that if McKenzie is offered more money on a team where he might have a bigger role, he should take it because he's #5 on our depth chart going into training camp.
  11. Yes, I do. The trainer in question immediately reported it to her supervisor, she called a Knoxville sexual assault crisis center hotline within 3 hrs, AND she was generously paid to go away by the university...$300,000 settlement as part of which she was required to leave. It wasn't reported to the police - in fact her supervisor "I don't think this is best handled by press or police". Peyton Manning still remembers it too, since he referred to it and her (according to his version) in the book he published in 2002. She sued him for defamation. The lawsuit was settled under confidential terms.
  12. yeah, he referred to him as "Cal or Hal", which didn't raise his credibility in the Hapless Manse. I mean, if you're enough of a Texans fan to have purchased a billboard urging them to draft Johnny Football, is it a stretch to think you might know the owner's name?
  13. According to Overthecap, he took home $6.5M (out of the original $22.3M guaranteed) I guess he thinks it will last forever. Which, practically speaking, it could, but an educated guess is that's not the road he's heading down
  14. *nods* We needed some pieces, no question. Obviously the Bills have to be very selective about where they try to improve in FA due to cap So far the offensive moves are moving on from our best "speed" WR (who struggled to get open against press man) to a much more physical route runner who is not as fast, swapping a "small offensive lineman" at TE for a lower-tier but more all-purpose TE, and upgrading at a position we hope we never see play - Backup QB. So far we kept exactly the same OL and the same RBs that couldn't run against good teams last season. So far there are no defensive moves - releasing Quinton Jefferson and renegotiating with a bunch of guys allowed us to re-sign Milano and Levi Wallace. Beane has to know that if we're going to compete better next year, we need to 'level up' on pass rush, CB #2, OL, and RB. We need SPEED. I trust Beane, but it's puzzling
  15. Sidney looks like a Border Collie, they show up in all the AP and Honors classes. How many dogs does it take to change a lightbulb? Border Collie: Just one, then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to Code
  16. This saying Giants may have an interest 😭😭 But, it's old (last Monday) (Raanan is an ESPN reporter covering the Giants)
  17. (which may or may not be run by anyone associated with the Bills or the Pegulas) And let me tell you, that puppy can dawg ya! ------------------
  18. Brother Bill weighs in: And Nate Geary:
  19. What's this about skipping "optional workouts he had committed to attend"? Didn't think the teams could have workouts right now? Unless a traded player is allowed at his option to work out with the trainers to set up an off season program geared to his needs? Being late to his physical and onboarding bad sign. So long!
  20. If you click on the link, it will take you to the video on Youtube. Just watched 'em both.
  21. That kind of sounds as though he might have an offer in hand but be hoping for a better or do you think I'm reading in?
  22. Can we consider that these are allegations at this point - not activities? Maybe we should wait for some proof or at least some more details before speculating on protest activities? I work to keep the benefit of the doubt either way at this point, which seems appropriate. Though I must admit that lawyer makes it a challenge The thing is, Watson's trade value is maximal right now (actually, a week ago) while teams are shopping for QB. Once teams have signed $10M contracts or drafted rookies or whatever they're gonna do, his trade value goes down Hard to know what to believe
