  1. You make some valid points, but when it comes to allegations...I would hope that no one on this board, nor Watson, will get into trouble for allegations of anything before investigation and some form of judicial process takes place. I don't care for things being adjucated in the press/social media.
  2. Did you actually listen to the interview? Because it really didn't come across as talking smack there, more as saying we're not worrying about other teams until they show up on our schedule, we're worrying about protecting Josh etc.
  3. I'm listening.... So we "got worse" because we traded a big-legged punter who could kick us out of trouble, but was usually unable to pin the other team deep (lots of touchbacks) for a reliable punter who excelled at pinning the other team inside their own 20, and because we moved on from a great return guy who averaged 27 yds on kickoff returns (vs if it's in the endzone, it comes out to the 25) and who varied between getting us great field position on some returns vs. getting us pinned inside our own 5 yd line on others (see Colts game)? You absolutely should not be sure we'll repeat as AFCE champs. Every year is a new year. Nothing is given. Everything is earned. Here's the thing though...when you're 13-3, the other teams have to step up to come even with you.
  4. He was asked about them during an interview Dawkins never did explain why he's wearing a sweatshirt where Josh Allen has a "3rd eye" in the middle of his forehead. Anyone? The whole OL appears to have a bromance with Josh. Or as Jon Feliciano said, "Young Goofy back there"
  5. I don't think anyone has said it's a thing he'll definitively do, or that it could be done without detriment. Most of us anyway, understand that you can't "kick the can down the road" forever. But we also understand that the Bills do need to try to get better and not just "tread water" from next year. Accepting Sanders as an upgrade on Brown (which as far as the "need for speed", he probably isn't), that means (at a minimum) an upgrade on DL, CB#2, and either OL or RB or both Right now, on spotrac, the Bills are in arrears by -3.4M on cap space, which is obviously not where they are in real life as the NFL doesn't allow it. Matakevich extension is not captured yet, but that will save us at most ~$1M That means that either 1) Beane has cut someone without it being announced - extremely unlikely since the minute a guy is cut, their agent will make it known they're available 2) Beane has already re-negotiated someone's contract and transferred either roster bonus or salary to signing bonus that can be amortized across the length of the contract.
  6. And He Himself has Said It, and It's Greatly To His Credit! It's a fair question since he's never been the main return man for a full season And I don't know if they want him to be the main return man for a full season, this year But it means Daboll keeps his "gadget guy" and also that we go into the draft with someone who can return punts on the roster, who is NOT named "Micah Hyde"
  7. This. It has to be understood that being a prominent farm family in a small town, means something different than being a prominent wealthy family in a larger city. As a farm family, even a well-off one, you're still living in the land of "nothing is given, everything is earned" and can go through years of scant money if harvests fail. Farmers who are decent and treat their workers like men retain the best and hire the best; I'm sure Josh learned "treat everyone alike, treat everyone decently" from his Dad. The School Superintendent in Firebaugh didn't tear up talking about what Josh had meant to the community and how much he contributed (when Tim Graham interviewed him) because Josh behaved like a typical entitled jerk athlete. But Josh was still from one of the prominent, most successful families in the area. It's not like he grew up in a log cabin somewhere, or was one of the farm workers.
  8. That made me open my eyes and blink. I love how they cherrypick stuff to make someone sound good or bad, according to the narrative they're pushing. Let's take a look at the whole field, shall we?
  9. I think that's a reasonable guess. Someone before FA commented that he felt there would be an even bigger divide this off-season between a handful of high-dollar re-signings of top-tier guys which took place right away, vs lower-level FA on cheap 1 year deals - and fewer contracts than normal in between.
  10. Gotcha. There are a bunch of players also who have been released, but designated as post-June 1 Does anyone know the rules - can they talk to teams now?
  11. I could totally be wrong, but I think they draft a C/G. Let him battle it out to start at guard this season, and then potentially slide over to C. Sort of like they did with Eric Wood. Jon's contract is fair IMHO. He's being paid in avg/yr like a mid-tier RG, which I think is about right, with the chance to bump up if he hits whatever his "performance incentives" or "performance escalators" are. He gets some nice guaranteed money so he knows he won't likely be cut if he's out-competed in camp, but he's not being paid so much that there's no point in bringing in competition.
  12. Yeah the key language was "up to" $17M. There must be some good bonuses in there. One difference between Joe B saying $3.5M this year and the reported $3.28 above, is probably "bonuses unlikely to be earned"
  13. No, they were actually wasted. Some were 6th doses where they ran out of special syringes. Rest way too hard to explain without going into MO politics. The 1,200 shots that were left over were used in a β€œpop up clinic” somewhere else 4 days later.
  14. Sure, I'll explain that. Moderna is a 10 dose vial. Pfizer and J&J are 6 dose vials. All 3 have a ticking clock on each vial - after 6 hrs from the first puncture of the septum, it has to be discarded. Pfizer also requires a special fussy syringe to get the 6th dose out of the vial. So if vials get punctured then vaccine remains, as 6 hrs approaches they either go in an arm or go in the trash. Ideally it's minimal, but at mass vaccine events to speed things along they may have one crew of people drawing doses into vaccines and another crew vaccinating, so if they get "no shows" they get shots in syringes that either go in an arm ASAP, or go to waste. The timeline for this too short for media to be effective, but most pharmacies around here will maintain a "waste list" of people willing to drop everything and show up and some mass vaccination events will accept "waste list signups" of people who show up near the end of the event. There are storage limits on how long Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can be thawed and stored at refrigerator temperatures, but the shortest is 5 days, so it's feasible to schedule a "pop up clinic" at a nearby hospital or DOH, which may be publicized on media (TV, radio, social).
  15. We need to be better at getting the vaccine into the arms of people who are at higher risk whether or not they can "navigate the maze". I see it two ways. On the one hand, Don't Lie, Don't Cheat. On the other hand, out-state in MO, there are mass clinics and pharmacies that are struggling to find enough arms for their supplies of vaccine. We had one event where at 3:30 pm they had 1,500 out of 2,000 doses remaining and threw it open to all comers. Still had more than 1,200 doses remaining and wasted 142 shots. It's hard to be a line-jumper when there is no line.
  16. What everyone here should know is that to my knowledge EVERY state that is offering earlier vaccination to people with co-morbid conditions has a selection something like "individual with other conditions a physician evaluates as placing them at higher risk". The reason for this is it was recognized that if every rare condition or disease were listed, the list would become unreadably long. So there was room left for physician judgement of their individual patients. So anyone: if your physician says something like "you should get a shot due to your ### condition or disease placing you at higher risk", ask them to make a note to that effect in your chart and give you a note so stating. Then go get vaccinated as soon as the tier for "individuals at higher risk due to ....." opens up. It's legit. As for the Cam jersey LOL Figures.
  17. I guess in hospital they might figure if you collapse OTJ the right people with the right stuff will be close at hand? All the clinics and pharmacies that I know of that are using Moderna or Pfizer make you wait. It's a simple safety precaution to counter a rare but serious adverse event. (I was not aware that pharmacies that give vaccinations have to have stuff on hand to treat anaphylactic shock, but apparently this isn't new!) The qualifying conditions and the order in which they are taken, vary somewhat from state to state. Maryland, for example, has people with medical conditions that place them at risk behind "continuity of government" (which apparently is not just federal, but state and local government) and a bunch of industries. There are arguments to be made both ways. From the CDC link you give: smoking and BMI>30 but <40 do not qualify in MO. Most clinics and pharmacies of which I'm aware rely primarily on self-certification. Mostly, it works. No system is perfect and some folks, like your friend, will always cheat.
  18. Fair point. The evolution of Allen's long ball is kind of a different issue.
  19. I think we actually agree more than not here, but a few counter points: As far as 2018,there's a point to be made that what the OC schemes up makes a difference. John DeFilippo proved not "All That" as an OC. I didn't watch many Vikes games in 2018, but to your point about "not a great YAC" receiver - in 2018 almost 50% of Diggs yards were YAC. That implies to me that Diggs 2018 numbers say a lot more about how he was being used in DeFilippo's offense, than about his speed. It also counters your point about him not being a great YAC producer. If you want to use a year's numbers to argue that a WR isn't a great deep ball producer, you have to acknowledge when the same year's numbers show bountiful YAC, right? If your point is that no right-thinking OC wants to take away from Digg's exquisite route running skills to just send him deep all the time, I agree. My point is that he can run a mixture of routes, that possibly having another guy like Sanders with exquisite route running skills will "Free Diggs!" to go deep more often, and that the threat to go deep is part of what makes him an effective short-to-intermediate guy. It seems to me that at times, one of Daboll's responses to games where our OL struggled to protect long enough for deep routes was to pull Diggs off the deeper routes and play him underneath alongside Beasley. I'm thinking about the halftime adjustments in the Pittsburgh game in particular. It actually sounds like we're in agreement more than not. That's exactly what I think and bringing me down to the next point... This is a valid point, but to the counter-point - if an offense has "specialists" to the point that opposing defenses can "pigeonhole" them, it also enables more effective defense, right? That was the problem with Foster, he showed up on the field and opponents were "Oh, he's gonna go deep, PI him if you must but don't let him past you". With McKenzie "Oh, it's that Jet Sweep again", and when they tried using him on slants and crossers it didn't quite work out. The thing that makes Tyreek Hill such a problem is that he can be used in the screen game and run regular routes, then break ankles all the way down the field. So sure, having guys who each have different peak skills is great, but having guys who are multiple also loosens and opens the defense in a way having players with complementary skills (but gaps in other parts of their game) doesn't. IMO the key point is that Diggs does have the abilities (speed, ball tracking skills, physicality) to be effective in the deep game. You're absolutely correct that it would be a loss to dedicate him to that part of the route tree family, but he can contribute there. And I think Sanders may also, more than 2020 let him show.
  20. Agree about combine times. For one thing, guys who run track and have trained all their lives to run fast in "pajamas" can put up eye popping times (like Marquise Goodwin's 4.27), because their technique is optimized. They may or may not have that speed in pads and cleats. The premise of Don Beebe's "House of Speed" is that athletes can get faster with the right training. Now if you're a slug, it might only make you a fast slug, but if you're already running a 4.4x 40, it might give you a 4.3x 40 - and you just might be faster in pads and cleats than a guy with a lower 40 time. Diggs posted clips last off season that showed him doing speed-building training. It's not unreasonable to think he's a bit faster than that 4.46 40 time now, especially with cleats and pads on. I think there are a couple things at play and some of this goes back to points made by @BADOLBILZ in a post upthread 1) Both Diggs and Sanders (if it's true "speed doesn't leave") are fast enough to threaten to break deep against most corners. 2) They're not as fast as the league's premier deep threats like Tyreek Hill 3) The league's premier fast corners (or a corner with uncalled defensive holding) can stay with them and 4) I think it's true that they don't have that "extra gear" to adjust to a ball that's thrown a little long, that the league's premier "deep ball guys" can turn on. 5) They do have that "physicality" and ball tracking ability to adjust and contest a ball that's thrown a bit short The thing is, there are only a few unicorns in the league who can torch the best corners, track the ball well in the air, AND have an extra gear for that deeper throw. Now throw in a guy who can run the rest of the route tree well and get open, and the number drops more. That's the problem with a "one note Johnny" like fast Foster - sooner or later it gets known that when he's on the field, they're going deep, just as it got known of McKenzie that when he's on the field, it's gonna be that Jet Sweep gadget. Then either the guys develop a wider play vocabulary, or their effectiveness drops. I'd love to see the Bills grab a guy who is a true burner-speed deep threat like Hill, but Beane has a point that they're "Unicorns". The Unicorns are also difficult to sort (in the draft) from the Pajama guys, and I used to wince-o-matic when every year Nix then Whaley were passing up better football players in favor of the "Next Flash". There's something to be said for getting our hands on the best proven football players that we can. It'll be interesting to see which way they go in the draft, but I sort of have the impression that Daboll is about ready to stage a "Peasants Revolt" if we don't use a top pick on offense - remember his "we only have 1 first round pick on this side of the ball" presser? And Beane may stand ready to tell him "you certainly are revolting, stop smoking cigars and Go Shower" while he drafts in a different direction. Time will tell.
  21. I hate those click-per-paragraph articles. Not gonna go there.
  22. I don't think the point is to charactarize it as "impressive" or not, the point is to share knowledge of how Josh is reading the field and making decisions.
  23. I hadn't know before that Kurt Warner had a regular Youtube series breaking down QB play. For those who like the X's and the O's give it a watch Kurt Warner was an Allen doubter. Sounds like he's come around.
  24. Just a note Spotrac doesn't have Matakevich extention on there either, which almost certainly drops his cap hit. Are there gonna be roster cutdowns in June this year? Or are you talking about the players designated as "post June 1" moves?
