  1. Per his original draft scouting report, he has a lot of upside but needs work: A lot of the areas I highlighted are, I believe, not areas that would show in a red jersey or without contact
  2. https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/guns-in-vehicles-in-california/ But then there's this: https://jdlaw.law/blog/how-to-safely-transport-firearms-in-california/ Sounds as though a plea will be negotiated.
  3. I'm not sure, but I don't think there's any requirement for owners of high rise buildings to hire qualified inspectors for structural inspections I'm pretty sure city/state building inspectors have all they can do to handle new construction and complaints, they don't have any kind of regular schedule Some info on rescues/accounted for/missing: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/24/us/miami-surfside-building-collapse.html
  4. I thought about bumping the "Way Too Early" projection thread but it's almost 2 months old at this point. I thought @Matt Parrino did a reasonable job, though there is plenty of room to debate. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/06/bills-53-man-roster-projection-after-minicamp-fierce-position-battles-expected-in-trenches.html I'm going to condense his predictions in one place, then loop back to discuss QB:QUARTERBACK (2): Josh Allen, Mitchell Trubisky RUNNING BACK (4): Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, Matt Breida, Taiwan Jones WIDE RECEIVER (6): Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie, Isaiah Hodgins TIGHT END (3): Dawson Knox, Jacob Hollister, Tommy Sweeney OFFENSIVE LINE (9): Dion Dawkins, Daryl Williams, Jon Feliciano, Mitch Morse, Cody Ford, Ike Boettger, Spencer Brown, Tommy Doyle, Ryan Bates DEFENSIVE LINE (10): Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, A.J. Epenesa, Boogie Basham, Greg Rousseau, Star Lotulelei, Ed Oliver, Vernon Butler, Efe Obada, Harrison Phillips LINEBACKER (6): Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, A.J. Klein, Tyrell Adams, Tyler Matakevich, Tyrel Dodson DEFENSIVE BACKS (10): Tre’Davious White, Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson, Taron Johnson, Rachad Wildgoose, Siran Neal, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Jaquan Johnson, Damar Hamlin SPECIALISTS (3): Tyler Bass, Matt Haack, Reid Ferguson Discuss!
  5. This could be me having a soft-spot for the underdog, but it may be worth noting that Efe Obada had 5.5 sacks, 4 TFL, and 15 QB hits last season. Now I wasn't watching Panthers games, so I can't comment on what else was going down to enable that -but it's a fact that would have led the Bills in sacks and QB hits and tied Jerry Hughes in TFL. So I'm all Ent-like "don't be hasty" on getting out the scissors for Obada. I think it's gonna be rough on McDermott and Beane.
  6. No one who opts out gets paid their normal salary. It was very clear: players who opt out due to high risk factors will still get a $350,000 stipend, but otherwise, Nopenope, Nothing. I'm not a college football fan but my impression is NFW based on this assessment by Lance Zierlein: Not that Lance Zierlein is Truth or the Final Word, but when we have a 2nd or 3rd year player, I frequently go back to Zierlein's scouting reports and find myself nodding.
  7. Absolutely, once a guy proclaims such a hard stance and is both vilified and exalted for it, he has a lot of "face" of holding the line. Depending upon the situation in most of the country in August, I would expect the protocols for unvaxxed players to be modified somewhat, allowing a face-saving "OK they listened to us and made changes" stand-down. But who knows? Beasley has been a great addition to the team and the locker room the last two years. But I think this is worth looking at (click to Embiggen) The point I'd make from these data is that Beasley set new career highs for Y/Tgt, Y/R, Y/G and R/G the last year, and only had one other season that was close to 2019 in his 7 years with Dallas. Sure, part of his success here is Beasley. But part of his success here is Daboll, the play design, how he's being used, and Josh. So it's possible that other WR we have on the roster or could obtain might be able to have some success with the same features? I'd rather not have to find out. I think one reason the Bills brought in Tanner Gentry is that he had a couple seasons of that "mind meld" chemistry with Josh, so if he can step up his release and route running, he could potentially help. Of course, that's an "if"
  8. I think the Bills signed Sanders to be an addition to Cole and to take some of the load off of him so he could hold up better. But Sanders should be capable of running all Beasley's slot routes capably - the question is how long it would take him to get his head into it and get on the same page as Allen - the results of 2nd Day Minicamp were NOT encouraging, but of course it's only one day. And of course, whether he feels the same way Beasley does I think it would be a big opportunity for McKenzie and he would lobby to step into the same role that Daboll envisioned when they signed Sanders to pair with Beasley.
  9. He might become that, but I don't think he's there yet. Here's another article on this training from The Athletic: https://theathletic.com/2626842/2021/06/02/he-was-my-guinea-pig-how-joe-staley-prepared-bills-spencer-brown-for-nfl/?article_source=search&search_query=spencer brown One of the writers covering the Bills did some scouting of how Brown stacked up during OTAs, which I've just been hunting for and can't find, but it basically confirmed Staley's comments. He showed some good stuff, but he also showed he had a ways to go in his technique
  10. From the link, some differences: They are also apparently handling roster bonuses differently: I'm not going to repost them here, but some of the responses to this Twitter are pretty funny
  11. so if you scroll up and click on the cover1 chart I put up (clck to 'embiggen') - there were a handful of games where he was charted playing as many snaps at LB as at DT, and one where he played 23 snaps at LB per the charting. What was going on there?
  12. 'cuz he's an NFL football player doing something no other player on a roster during the season has done? Was this a trick question? On men, on women, or yes?
  13. I thought about posting something to that effect myself, then I decided it was simpler to just edit the Subject from "pole" to "poll"
  14. That would be as “missing the point” as deciding you wanna hang there ‘cuz a total babe at work spends her weekends there, but You do You
  15. Cover1 transcribed some of Leslie Frazier's press conference where he talked about Basham: https://www.cover1.net/buffalo-bills-carlos-basham-leslie-frazier/ The Cover1 guys also turned up Basham's snap counts from Wake Forest: Looks like he was rocking 15-30% of his snaps at either DT or ?LB(!!) Love someone who watches college ball to tell me what was up with that last --- How was he being used?
  16. Athletic article by Joe B: https://theathletic.com/2651325/2021/06/22/boogie-basham-film-study-what-does-the-bills-second-round-pick-do-well-and-where-is-he-limited/ Strengths: Joe points out a couple plays where he excelled as a 3TDT and speculates that may be his future in the NFL. Says he also creates opportunities for teammates on stunts: Joe B says his strength, balance and power also make him a strong factor in run D Weaknesses: Joe B thinks Basham has a stronger chance to become a Year 1 contributor than Rousseau because he is older with more experience, and Joe believes he can play either side at end as well as 3TDT or a hybrid role (what the Bills likely hoped Q would contribute)
  17. Also here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-91-dont-lose-before-you-start-with-joe-staley/id1454848755?i=1000526283349 Talk about Spencer Brown starts about 38 minutes in There's also some stuff early on (about 4:30 in) on gaining and losing weight as an NFL player Enjoy!
  18. Wow, good to know that the NFL takes these things seriously I got no problem with that. It's the Bills OL job to stop it.
  19. What's the rate of myocarditis/pericarditis in that age group, after covid-19 infection? The highest rate given is 233 per 4,337,287 doses. That's a rate of 5.37 per 100,000 doses in males 18-25 -Myocarditis was detected in college athletes diagnosed with covid-19 at 0.3%, or 300 per 100,000 -Myocarditis or pericarditis found in 5 of 789 pro athletes (multiple leagues) + for covid last season (incl. Sweeney). 634 per 100,000 (source: JAMA Cardiology, March issue) In other words, if Mr Berenson were interested in logical, factual, discussion, he would present his information with the context that the highest rate, in males 18-25 yo, is still 10x lower than the rate of developing myocarditis/pericarditis if they contract covid-19 disease - and that's just one side effect of covid-19 disease that is emerging as applicable to this age group and to people who have mild or asymptomatic disease. IMHO this is a classic example of the "decision bias" sway, where having made a decision, someone views and presents all information through a filter of the decision made.
