  1. This link has exactly the same source, Merrill Reese, as the OP link. So it's not "they" it's "he" - multiple sources quoting the same dude It's the new trend in Lazy-Ass Sports Reporting - one guy tweets something out and then 6 or 7 reporters pick up on it and write a story about it, all citing the same tweet by the same guy as their source. The report was that the Bills were poised to trade up for one of them
  2. There were some articles about him posted during OTAs (linked at the time, but I'll put them here) https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/harrison-phillips-feeling-like-himself-again-as-critical-season-approaches/article_8c19a618-bf26-11eb-af58-9398f463827e.html He and Skurski don't agree with you about the "declining trend after the injury". I thought he came on at the end of last season, two: I think it's probable that the injury was still affecting him last season
  3. If anyone has a linky, kindly add Harry and his GF Shae Daney are two of the players/WAG I follow in Insta. Back in February Shae posted some amusing videos of "His Vacation vs Her Vacation" One of them showed her reclining in a lounge chair with a foofy drink, while Phillips was near the top of a flight of steps holding some hand weights and doing some kind of stair-step leg lift exercise. He looked sweaty. She looked relaxed 😆 So the work didn't stop even on vacation.
  4. I thought spectators were not allowed? Kim Pegula posted this: Well in that case, let's not have a "let's stalk the jet blocked by the owner" thread
  5. Ooooh 😈 "Hello, Officer? I'd like to report a murder"
  6. Watch the Cover1 Youtube piece on this. Bills were primarily a zone-blocking run team last season. In 2019 when we ran the ball better, we ran more gap
  7. Interview with Bobby Johnson in TBN: https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bobby-johnson-on-in-person-workouts-continuity-and-improvement-of-the-bills-o-line/article_5e0accf4-c9f1-11eb-8187-13fd8c457532.html I mean I don't expect the guy to sell out the playbook, but that last comes across to me as gobbletygook. For the first part, it sounds as though Johnson isn't locked in on the same OL as last year, which I think is a Good Thing That seems to be what Johnson is implying
  8. So I agree somewhat with you both. There were three games last season where we ran the hell out of the ball successfully - first Patriots game (Josh was recovering from shoulder) 190 yds; Chargers 172 yds; Broncos 182 yds. The Broncs game we broke 350 yds passing; the Chargers and 1st Pats game we ran more than we passed. So we DID have games where we "ran an inordinate amount of times" and then (for example) the Seasnakes the following week after the Patriots we passed all over them. We had games where we could run when we wanted to. The problem as I see it, is that we had games where we couldn't run when we NEEDED to - the Titans game, the KC game, the Ravens. The Ravens game was particularly pathetic - 16 rush attempts for 32 yds!!!! Lots of reasons why, but bottom line to my eyes, we simply couldn't run block effectively against the best DLs. We don't need to be leading the league in attempts or rush yardage, but we DO need to be able to run block and run effectively against a team that is working to shut down our passing game and (should be) leaving themselves vulnerable, except that we can't hold the blocks and the back gets stuffed in the backfield. Some of that's on the back of course, but a good bit is on the OL.
  9. Micah Hyde said something about "I think any of our OLmen coulda caught that pass" after the game. I was like Micah? Micah dearest?: YOU catch that pass. That throw had some ZIP to its Trip.
  10. Ertz had a bad season last year. And I'm not a big fan of bringing in another guy >30 to go along with Sanders and Beasley. But of course, the QB who was throwing to him last season was notably and publicly falling apart, so there's that.
  11. I think that Beane and McDermott feel good about Knox's potential, but until a guy has actually produced, they want competition. I think that goes for all positions, otherwise why bring in all those extra DLmen? And even if a guy has produced, they may still bring in competition. It's "Stand and Deliver" time for Knox. If he's got the ability to turn potential into results, he needs to show it in practice and preseason and when he gets the opportunity, games.
  12. I hadn't thought of it that way, but it's a fair point where Knox, Kroft, and Smith were concerned. On the other hand, I believe the Bills feel that Sanders is at least equal to John Brown, who saw 52 targets last season. And your comparison doesn't sound as impressive if you say "if Ertz takes the 2020 targets from Knox, Kroft and Smith, that's 58 targets....."
  13. I think there were probably home games in 2019 where Josh came out a little bit too "amped up" from the energy in the stadium But I think that partly goes from awareness of his own flaws and being self-critical, and *knowing* there were throws he couldn't make safely that he really needed to be able to hit. Being more practiced and hopefully another year further into building muscle memory for his new throwing technique should hopefully help keep the nerves down. That's never stopped us before
  14. Link-y? All I saw from Cosell was calling him "the most physically talented QB in the league" which may be true - but the mental aspect of the game is hugely important
  15. I, too, would like to see more effective use of the screen pass but we need good TE blocking (at least the ones I've seen Daboll design) and an RB who's a better pass catcher would help, too
  16. So this brings up a relevant ancillary point. Opinion on Daboll is mixed on this forum. He won Assistant Coach of the Year last season, and PFF (fwiw) rates him the 2nd best play caller in the league, after Matt LaFleur of the Packers. Some here have expressed a far more negative opinion of him. So, if he's a creative genius, he's well aware of the fact that the rest of the league is dissecting his offense to figure out how to shut it down, and he's fully capable of coming up with new wrinkles and staying ahead of the herd. If he's not, one factor in any observed "regression" on the part of Josh Allen might be that our offense has been "solved" and we have not "evolved" to match it.
  17. I typically watch commercial televised football games on mute because of the quality of the commentary.
  18. Per the OP link, Smith said it was the "mid to late 90's"
  19. Campbell 2" taller and 40 lbs heavier according to Wiki, which would have him playing a bit heavier than his long-ago combine workout
  20. That was fun! If I understand her correctly, she seems to use YOLO Josh like GMF Kyle Brandt uses "Sugar High Josh Allen", to describe a Wild Man who is doing crazy "Trying Too Hard" ***** that will fail much more often than it succeeds, but that would be cool if it did succeed.
  21. Well, for example... in the book "NFL Confidential" by "Johnny Anonymous" (now believed to be 2012 SDG 7th round draft pick and 2014 Eagles backup C David Molk), he goes off on a rant about why the NFL could never have a gay man in the locker room, it would spoil the whole locker room vibe and team dynamics. So maybe Bruce's point to Molk and anyone still in the NFL who feels that way is that some of the top, championship-contending teams even back in the '90s had a guy who was known to his teammates to be gay, and the locker room vibe and team dynamics were just fine, thank you - so Get Over Yourself. Pretty sure the 2020 Bills had at least one gay player on the roster. He's not real open about it but he posts stuff on Instagram every now and again that are like "So, (Players Name), is there Something You Want to Tell Us?"
