  1. So you have a personal definition of click-bait that this doesn't fit. Cool. What you said that I was responding to was: "Also putting the next to last first rounder on his most likely to bust list is hardly a good way to get clicks. Much more effective click-bait if Simms picked someone who was drafted in the top ten. " Nothing in there about "click bait" being "something outrageous that the author does not believe in" Looked a lot like the more standard definition, "something to generate traffic to their website", and that you were arguing that predicting a top-10 pick to bust was a more effective strategy. I disagree and explained why.
  2. I could entirely be mistaken. I'm just going off my memory of my In-laws when they started up and then successfully ran a small restaurant. It was 6 days a week and they came home exhausted mentally and physically, too exhausted to take care of themselves with proper exercise and nutrition. I'm sure Lil' Dirty is still getting up and getting his workouts in. He's just a guy I'm pulling for to take a step and I think if some of the other guys are 100% focused on drills and workouts to get better while he's calling up suppliers and meeting with his tax preparer and training employees, he may be stacking the odds against himself. It's like when I was a student and working 20 hrs a week and competing for grades against both kids who were partying out and not working (no problem) and kids who were studying while I had to work (they beat my ass)
  3. It's click-bait because 1) the Bills were in the AFC championship game and pretty clearly needed better QB pressure to go further. So 2nd-guessing their efforts in that regard is news 2) Brandon Beane just won several awards as the Bills GM, including Sporting News Executive of the Year and PFWA Executive of the Year. So 2nd-guessing his top-two draft picks is "edgy" The question is: how does a GM with limited cap $$ and drafting at #30 improve at a premium position? He likely got out-bid for any FA in whom he had interest. The obvious answer seems to me: 1) take a chance on a couple of raw, high-ceiling low-floor FA like Efe Obada 2) take a chance on a couple of raw, high-ceilng low-floor draft prospects like Rousseau and Basham.
  4. I think that fundamentally, Brandon Beane's "DNA" as a GM and talent evaluator is to go with guys that he sees as having the highest physical potential and football IQ, and trust the coaching staff to develop them. We see that with a lot of his top draft choices - Allen, Edmunds, etc I think the telling question for Simms or anyone else second-guessing a draft is, "who else was there when we drafted that should have been better"? Historically, over 50% of players bust, including players drafted in the 1st round.
  5. To No One's Surprise, Ever, Nick Wright objects to Greg Cosell's assessment. I think Cosell has forgotten more about evaluating QB than Wright ever knew I also think Wright misunderstands what Cosell is saying. He's NOT saying Allen is a BETTER QB right now. He's talking raw physical abilities, which need to be linked to continued development of field vision/judgement to help him reach a higher level. That said, This Never Gets Old for me:
  6. Yeah, you're confused and didn't read carefully. The restaurant itself didn't open until May 29th. During the spring they were doing "BBQ Popups" on Saturday at various locations to help build a following and bring in some $$ while renovating the restaurant. He's posted on his Instagram about "not going into work today...feels good!". He's putting in a lot of time there.

  8. Heh. For reals that would describe McKenzie. The training videos he posted this spring were unreal. In one of them he was doing box jumps - onto a 5' tall stack if I counted right.
  9. You need to grasp the puppy dynamics in the typical household. Josh's girlfriend now dotes on the puppy and takes the puppy around to meet all her girlfriends and get loved on. She posts on Instagram about missing the puppy when they spend 12 hrs away from her. This changes the whole dynamic of wanting to keep the girlfriend happy with evenings out/vacation trips vs. training, studying the playbook, and watching video. Allen now is free to train long and hard while the puppy entertains his girlfriend, with occasional breaks to toss a ball, teach the puppy to shake hands, or walk to the beach with the GF and pup. As long as Josh doesn't get jealous of the puppy-doting, it's All Good
  10. I hope he isn't too distracted from training. I know from my in-laws that running a restaurant is exhausting, full-time work, so I'm concerned for his future as an NFL player that he isn't too distracted from training. Hard to get 2x/day workouts if the afternoon/evening are spent on-site, though the restaurant is described as opening at 11 and usually selling out by 5 pm! https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31749410/brisket-ribs-bbq-miami-native-buffalo-bills-receiver-opens-new-restaurant But it sounds as though the restaurant is doing pretty well. Describes McKenzie as 5'8" and 170 lbs which is probably more accurate than the 5'9" Wiki gives him. Man, for a football player he's tiny!
  11. You are, if I may be excused for suggesting, One Sick Puppy
  12. Nope. Not OK to start troll threads and when called out on them, say "oh haha all sarcastic, didn't mean a word"
  13. What does this even mean? Antonio Williams got in the final season game against Miami in the 3Q score 28-6. Only time he played. Miami players walking back to the line with their shoulders slumped - beaten team and they knew it You think some success (and credit to him, he ran well) in that game proves him our "best back" and the "hot hand"? Pfffffft.
  14. I would also agree that Morse is not strong as an all-around run blocker. He can be good if used appropriately for his skills. He's not a power guy. My point is that the problems with run blocking on the OL ran way beyond Morse and included guys who are being held up as better run blockers.
  15. No, I'd like you to explain which games in 2019 demonstrated that Morse was "significantly weaker vs. the run than Mongo at Center" and how/why? If your "eye test" tells you that, well and good, but you should be able to come up with a few descriptives. My point is, we don't have Mongo playing center most of the time. We have him playing RG. What does your "eye test" tell you about his run blocking in 2020 at RG?
  16. Like these? Love Josh Allen's Sex Panther reference PS depends - mobile or computer, what flavor of mobile if so? It's not the question that was asked, but Beasley never mentioned opting out or suggested he would opt out. Retiring rather than following protocols OR taking fines/suspensions/allowing his team to be fined and penalized were the options he mentioned ("play for free")
  17. If this is to me, I didn't see you mention Moss. You mentioned Morse, Mitch Morse: "Morse may be weaker in run blocking than Mongo at Center, but creating ways for Mitch to aid a run play enough to give the RB a running start will result in better play, imo. " My question is why single out Morse as the problem with the OL run blocking? The problems clearly went well beyond him and included Mongo and before he was IR'd, Ford. Which brings up IMHO the question of whether it's really reasonable to expect an OL of Dawkins-Ford-Morse-Feliciano-Williams to be an improvement in next seasons' run game? If one believes the guards were seriously hampered by injuries, Yes. If one believes they're just not that good, or they're likely to suffer similar injuries again, we better have a Plan B.
  18. Disproven. Until today, it rained every single day of the last week and a half. 5.5 inches
  19. Question: why single out Morse as the problem with the OL run blocking? I watched a lot of run plays after the season ended. Now it's always hard to tell just what the assignment was, but in general when I watched last year's film, Morse was typically Doing His Job as a run blocker. Ford while he was in there was pretty awful - he was on injury report for his lower limbs but at times it seemed he just couldn't move his arms correctly. Boettger seemed better. Feliciano was pretty bad, and I know his arms weren't at full strength but it often seemed to be his feet that weren't getting him into the correct position. Williams was also not so good. Knox got beaten like a drum in run blocking a lot. Mongo needs to write out "Slow Feet Don't Eat" and tape it up over his bathroom mirror IMO. Knox needs to get in the playbook more and know who his assignment was in time to get in their way.
  20. I'm just curious: by what metric is this clear? Singletary was 28th in Y/A and Moss 34 in Y/A last year. #37 and #43 in YPG which is arguably beyond their control in how many rushing attempts we had. I agree with Beane that it's unfair to single out the backs for the problems with the run game, but no question, they were part of the problem. By various metrics, Kyler Murray is the best rusher for AZ, Deshaun Watson is the best rusher for HOU, and Lamar Jackson is the best rusher for BAL; does that bother him as a former running back too? Or does it only bother him when the QB is Allen?
