  1. Joe Buscaglia. Athletic, paywall, cheap trial usually available https://theathletic.com/2682501/2021/07/01/bills-fan-survey-results-lofty-super-bowl-expectations-plus-a-tight-battle-for-most-overrated-player/?source=emp_shared_article 1,527 fans completed the survey, and there are some interesting paradoxes there. But before you look or I post excerpts, let's run our own fan mini-survey. Not fair to replicate Joe's article exactly, but I thought 3 questions would be interesting, that being our maximum
  2. Where are the Green Men when you need them? @SDS @Nervous Guy we have an obvious need for a name change here for Chandler Seriously, @Chandler#81 great find, thanks for sharing
  3. My point is, MJD wasn't just comparing Singletary to other backs in his remarks (which he also did, rating our backfield 31 out of 32 which seems harsh but arguable). He was saying specifically that it bothered him that the QB, Allen was the best rusher on the team. Ravens (Lamar Jackson): Gus Edwards just got a new contract and for sure had more production than Singletary, but Lamar Jackson blew his doors off for rushing production by every metric (1.3 more ypa, 22 more ypg etc etc) and no question who is more feared as a rusher - so if it bothers MJD that the QB is the best rusher on the team in B'lo, does it bother him in Baltimore? Cardinals (Kyler Murray): Kenyon Drake had more yards and 100 more attempts, and has more experience and production - but Murray blew his doors off 6.2 ypa vs 4.0 ypa. No question who is the more dynamic run threat IMO, so if it bothers MJD in B'lo, does it bother him in AZ - and if not, why not? I grant @Buffalo716 point about NE and certainly Jones is not a dynamic run threat with the Giants, but IMO similar arguments in Houston - David Johnson is a good back, but I think most players polled would say with the ball in his hand Watson more of a threat to contain - and Seattle's run game just sucked last year so similar argument for Wilson, even though at this point in his career it's clear that he'd rather pass and is trying to limit his hits. I personally think those other teams don't bother MJD because he perceives Jackson, Murray, Wilson, Newton (earlier in his career certainly) as elite athletes. It's no shame to be second fiddle as an RB to a truly elite athletic threat! In contrast, I don't think MJD credits Allen as the elite athlete he actually is. Or put another way, we could have a far better RB in our backfield, and Allen could still be the best rusher on the team.
  4. In terms of ypa certainly, 100 yds more on same # attempts. I didn't watch enough Pats*** to say this year, but certainly through a lot of Cam's career even when another player had more yards and more attempts, it would have been argued that Cam was more dangerous with the ball in his hand. But fair point. I think there are some backs who somehow can't fit in Chan Gailey's offense, and he turns away from them. Remember how hard it was for Spiller to see the field his first couple years? Of course, part of that was reportedly struggles with the playbook, and I don't know as Daboll's playbook is any easier for an RB to grasp
  5. He skipped the ceremony this year. You know, where the Canadians all get together one night with a full moon, and transfer all their nasty feelings to Canada Geese.

  7. Since you guys are determined to bump this fossil, here's some fuel: https://billswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/07/maurice-jones-drew-buffalo-bills-devin-singletary-zack-moss/ I said elsewhere and will say here. I agree, Josh Allen is probably the most talented rusher on the team. That's probably true of a number of other teams: Ravens (Lamar Jackson), Cardinals (Kyler Murray), New England (Cam Newton), Texans (Deshaun Watson), Seattle (Russ Wilson). Even the Giants! (Daniel Jones) - which, Damn! Daniel - was NOT supposed to be that way! Does it bother Maurice Jones-Drew for these other teams as well? If not, why not? Josh Allen is becoming pretty widely acknowledged as having pretty high athletic talent. He apparently trains off-season with the same running coach who trains Deshaun Watson.
  8. I think that's a #madeyalook headline While bringing up tags, though, Fromm has a good one for his wedding: #frommtwotoone His cake though: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ_PIhjDDev/
  9. I've been waiting for someone to bring up Zay Jones. Good thing Gruden has "re-ignited his love of football" to the tune of 14 receptions for 154 yds https://www.si.com/nfl/raiders/news/las-vegas-raiders-wide-receiver-zay-jones-re-sparked-love-of-football-head-coach-jon-gruden I'm sure getting traded will help Harry, just as it will turn out to have helped Zay now that his 34 receptions for 301 yds in 2 seasons are under his belt.
  10. I'd just like to point out that your highlighted sentences provide the desired information. I have had it happen to friends of mine who were involuntarily bumped ("denied carriage") from a plane, that their luggage went to the destination without them. Apparently that is not "instantaneous corporate suicide". I'm pretty sure I've also read stories of passengers who were removed for what the airline considered "required by safety, security, or health reasons, or due to the passenger’s unlawful behavior" where they were left baggageless because their baggage didn't come off the flight, and those airlines are still flying. So apparently that was not "instantaneous corporate suicide" either. There must be some very fine lines in the denial of carriage rules, or else the operating certificate is a bit harder to lose than you suggest. I would also bet that what sound like HS or college kids going off to party, were not likely paying extra for checked luggage and had what they needed in carry-on bags.
  11. I'm only asking because I know you know something, so I'm taking a chance to become better informed: why not? Flight attendants can correctly ID meals and drinks for rows and rows of people, they can surely ID 24-27 misbehaving pax. It's my understanding that the airline's latitude to deny boarding is far larger than their latitude to get an already boarded passenger off the plane (in part, what led to the large rapid settlement in the David Dao case). I do "get it" that if you're denying re-boarding to a large group of people, that does have the potential to become a security incident. But so did getting everyone off the plane. This may be the core issue. Not enough boots hands and heads - and also as I said, probably "mass mask rebellion" not an issue the airlines had planned for. Well hey y'all Airlines guess what, better plan now because some folks we have around these parts will be seeing those kids as heroes to emulate. Good to know. Just a question of why, if the kids can be supervised safely o/n with the whole flight canceled, they couldn't be supervised o/n with just them canceled.
  12. Pretty much: They are, but when there are 30 of them, it's a problem of scale. No airline wants a repeat of that Tenn. doctor thing where a guy is dragged down the aisle breaking his nose and getting concussed. much less x30 and involving kids. That would be lawsuit city. I know as a retired pilot you have the inside scoop on this. I get it that the airline is not a law enforcement organization. Agree that it's not the airline's task to raise kids ie "teach them a lesson" But I'm not clear on where the "sit everyone down and have an illegal hearing" part comes into it? Airlines have wide discretion these days to deny carriage to anyone who doesn't follow crew instructions. Have crew go down the aisle and note the seat numbers of anyone who doesn't follow the crew instruction to be seated and place a mask over their face. Then deplane everyone on some reason (which is what they did anyway), and reboard everyone who isn't flagged (ID'd by seat number) as not following crew instructions. Again, I could be mistaken, but it seems like conflating a legal case with "illegal hearings" and statements from other passengers, with simply denying carriage to unruly pax who don't follow crew instructions, which as a legal case would get exactly .... Nowhere. As it stood, Mommy and Daddy didn't come to get them and the teens wound up having to spend the night in the airport: I "get it" that crew hours, landing slots at the destination, departure controls due to weather etc etc may have been involved. Just sort of sounds like if the concern is "legal quagmire", leaving a bunch of teens at the airport overnight is a bit of a quagmire anyway. If the teens aren't going to hotels anyway, leave their bags on the plane, and fly the bags back in the am? I know I know, these things take time to sort, just seems as though logistically there should have been a better solution from a "customer relations" POV. My guess is that there is, but the airline didn't have a plan for it because they weren't prepared for "mass mask rebellion"
  13. Two things can be true at once: 1) without Brady, the Pats would never have become the dynasty they were AND 2) Bill Belichick**** is a very very good football coach. Take him and take the Pats**** lightly at your peril What he may not be, is a capable GM/college scout/pro personnel evaluator AND coach. Even if you're well above average at 3 jobs, by the time you're adding 3 jobs together you may not have the time to give it. Then there's also the "ruthless in pursuit of a competitive advantage" thing
  14. what part of "please no Covid chatter" in the OP was insufficiently clear?
  15. I mean, maybe they wanted to play for Brady and NE. Or, maybe NE offered them the best deal by a bit and they figured "Money Changes Everything" Jonnu Smith signed a $50M contract with $31.25M guaranteed (paid in 3 years) Hunter Henry signed a $37.5M contract with $25M guaranteed (paid in the 1st 2 years) They were by far the most expensive TE in FA, top-10 for guaranteed money (Smith top-5) and top-15 for FA AAV overall. That's life-changing $$, and it's hardly the sort of deal NE used to get where guys would take a discount because they wanted a shot to be on that team. I think that's kind of the point. In addition, as I noted, signing up to be short passing game TE option on a run-heavy team figures to be a stat-building situation for a TE, but a stat-sapping situation for a deep threat WR Yeah, in terms of YPG for a TE I think Henry was #9 last season and Smith is #22 or something. But unless I mistake, Smith's strong suit is his blocking abilities which are very solid, while his pass-catching is just good enough that you better pay attention to him or he'll burn ya.
  16. He can play the honky-tonk like anything Saving it up for Friday night (now we know what the problem is - needed to save it up for Sunday)
  17. Money changes Everything I said, Money! Money changes everything Being a TE who will get a lot of attention in a run-first, short-pass offense is a bit different than being an underutilized deep threat That said - Harry's problems seem to go deeper than having a good QB to throw him bombs
  18. You clearly didn't read very carefully why your posts were called "trolling" and removed - HINT: it was NOT for simply saying he wasn't a class act early in his playing days or was a prick in public at times (which are widely documented and corroborated by many sources). It was for making specific, serious allegations that are NOT widely documented and corroborated, and were derailing this thread. That is NOT ok. You can have a seat and a second chance to read what was pretty clearly spelled out for you because I don't have time to baby-sit.
  19. I had the impression Harry was targetted infrequently because he was struggling to get open It doesn't help that he only caught 50% and 57.9% of his targets, either. This sort of reminds me of Sammy Watkins in B'lo demanding more targets. In hindsight, Sammy Watkins acknowledges that he himself was the cause of many of his struggles here - that he wasn't in the playbook, wasn't working hard in practice, wasn't following the rehab programs the doctors and trainers laid out for him.
  20. No worries, just to be clear with "ciao!" I was saying "I'm out of the conversation", not code for anything else!
  21. Could be a good deed if you get a big platter of ribs or brisket and bring it back for the guys on the pile. McKenzie seems like a good guy, if you explained who it's going to they might even cut you a little deal on it.
  22. Neither did my inlaws when they owned the restaurant. They employed dishwashers and kitchen help for that. There were still a lot of details to manage. And speaking of details, when you respond to a post: "I'm sure Lil' Dirty is still getting up and getting his workouts in. He's just a guy I'm pulling for to take a step and I think if some of the other guys are 100% focused on drills and workouts to get better while he's calling up suppliers and meeting with his tax preparer and training employees, he may be stacking the odds against himself. It's like when I was a student and working 20 hrs a week and competing for grades against both kids who were partying out and not working (no problem) and kids who were studying while I had to work (they beat my ass)" ....and your response is that you're sure I-mac isn't washing dishes and scrubbing the grill....it looks pretty non-responsive. Ciao!
  23. There are two issues here: -Jim Kelly being an arrogant prick, misbehaving (partying and womanizing, then after his marriage cheating on his wife) - These are well-documented. Teammates have talked about it, among them Steve Tasker; Jim and his wife have talked about it. Over time, Jim reportedly learned to be a better teammate, and eventually learned to be a better husband and Christian. -Jim Kelly committing domestic violence. If there is proof or evidence, it would be considered Buffalo Bills and football relevant to start a new thread about this. Stated as it was by "I'm sure he abused his wife back in the day. I could be wrong" and having a guy with 388 posts in 15 years on the board "pop up" to "confirm" will be considered disruptive trolling on an existing football thread comparing Kelly football highlights to Allen football highlights. That Is All.
