  1. I don't understand this sentence. You think they will cut Darryl Johnson, got it And the back-up linebackers are mostly terrible - as backup linebackers? as ST players? What? Matekevich and Andre' Smith are core special teams players I also thought they played pretty well when they got the "nod" as linebackers and Matekevich may have moved ahead of Tyrell Dodson on the depth chart. We have 10 LB on the roster right now, 4 of whom weren't on the team last year Who are you talking about?
  2. But you don't keep saying they are "neck and neck". The post I responded to said that Herbert got the "nod" (or slight nod) as the "better athlete" Previously you said "I said Herbert was slightly more athletic based on data" And earlier you said "By every physical metric Justin Herbert is just a shade better than Josh" I think it's totally reasonable to ask what your criteria are for saying these things. What are your criteria? Thanks.
  3. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/why-tom-bradys-big-injury-from-2020-could-lead-to-a-major-nfl-punishment-for-the-buccaneers/ You don't have to report the specifics of what the injury is. For example, "knee" would cover both a grade 1 sprain or Cole Beasley's broken bone near the knee. But it's supposed to be reported: I believe there is language in the contracts requiring the player to report injuries to the team and have them examined by the team trainer/physician, even if he exercises his right under the CBA to seek an independent evaluation and treatment. That was in NE
  4. Fair point. Some might also wait to see if injuries or something drive their price up
  5. He seriously damaged the door, got it partially open, and got pepper-sprayed in the face? I'm sorry, video of you trying to break into the house where my family lives and only desisting when you got a face full of pepper spray, would look plenty bad to me.
  6. We weren't too interested this Spring, what has changed?
  7. His "virtually nothing" involved playing a lot of ST snaps - nearly half on average, but up to 75% in some games. 189 ST snaps, 9th most on the roster. 2 tackles and 1 FF. (Apparently ST was his "thing" at Toledo, where he blocked 6 kicks). We know that McDermott loves him his ST specialists. We kept 4 TE last year counting Gilliam (Knox, Kroft, Smith, Gilliam) We're going into camp with 6. I think Knox is a lock and Hollister is a pretty good bet. That leaves 4 guy for 2 spots, if we go with the roster composition we had last year. I put a bunch of links below, I'll put my bottom line here: unless Becker has really come on or myocarditis has really hurt Sweeney, I think we keep Sweeney and Gilliam (ST), and offer Morris a spot on the practice squad to develop in lieu of Becker. Sweeney made it into 6 games his rookie season and showed some good stuff. Finished with 8 receptions for 114 yds, 8.8 ypt. That said, we might cut down on TE to leave an extra roster spot for positions where we're deep, like WR or DE. If it comes down to Bam Johnson vs Gilliam, I think Bam gets the nod. Nate Becker was inactive last year and only played in 1 game. I think he's more of a blocking-type TE, but they seem to have liked what they got out of rookie Gilliam better than what they got out of Becker. But maybe he's taken a step. Sweeney was injured then out for the year with Covid. I had wondered if his injury was a bit "mysterious" as far as giving him more time to develop. That leaves Quintin Morris, an UDFA rookie from Bowling Green who is listed as 6'2", 252 (2" taller and 4 lbs heavier) I really don't know anything about these guys for any kind of educated guess on who gets kept and who gets cut, so I did some hunting: Sweeney (good hands, physical on his routes, can block but needs lower body strength, not athletic enough to separate vs. man. good football IQ, "technician") https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/tommy-sweeney https://www.nfl.com/prospects/tommy-sweeney/32005357-4539-3041-578e-743d87b9a544 https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/6/11/22525787/90-players-in-90-days-tight-end-tommy-sweeney-buffalo-bills-2021-nfl-offseason Becker (no pre-draft profile I could find, but lauded as "blocking TE" https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/5/22/22447473/90-players-in-90-days-tight-end-nate-becker-buffalo-bills-2021-nfl-offseason Gilliam (no pre-draft profile I could find) https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/6/28/22552756/90-players-in-90-days-tight-end-reggie-gilliam-buffalo-bills-2021-nfl-offseason Morris (may be trying to play at too heavy a weight, needs to improve as a blocker, limited route tree but runs it well) https://www.nfl.com/prospects/quintin-morris/32004d4f-5248-9431-3daa-d300b23a42bc [film clip of him hurdling a guy - he may be a "gamer"] https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-scouting-report--te-quintin-morris little bit on him in here: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/6/9/22523597/ranking-the-buffalo-bills-undrafted-free-agents-by-roster-potential For fairness and comparison, Knox (he's got the athleticism and the raw abilities, needs to put it on the field. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/dawson-knox/32004b4e-4f49-0795-942a-0c363ee9b439 https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/dawson-knox Hollister https://www.pff.com/news/draft-pff-scouting-report-jacob-hollister-te-wyoming https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/6/3/22464615/90-players-in-90-days-tight-end-jacob-hollister-buffalo-bills-2021-nfl-offseason
  8. I will say this. At this point, where Beasley had a SM outburst and later said he was through, he didn't want to cause further distraction to the team, No. But if he goes off again and again or is blatant about violating protocols in a way that makes his availability questionable, it's not out of the question.
  9. Asking again - "slight nod" based on what? Anything besides 3 out of 5 combine numbers?
  10. Not wrong about the length of this thread "does not follow" that you can conclude anything from that about the preferences here being "we value drama over football news" Social rants took off over last summer when there was also a dearth of football news and the policy was slackened. I think if you look for the post you alluded to you will find it has gone to the Great Bitbucket in the Sky I'm impressed you noticed my tag - I didn't think anyone did.
  11. This On the one hand, Shady has been a "rabbits foot" for his last two teams! On the other hand, we really need to focus on developing players in order to sustain success. And Shady's problem his last season here was dancing around looking for a hole that wasn't there instead of plunging in and getting what he could.
  12. On the one hand, I agree with you completely - we don't know the story, and according to the charges he's the victim here, he's done nothing wrong. On the other hand, we all know that the amount of "distraction" and Drama a team will tolerate is linked to the player's expected on-field contributions. Shady McCoy after 1000+ yd season: High. Backup-quality QB fighting for a roster spot: Low. So from that perspective, what Haskins has done wrong is to get involved in a Drama-prone situation where "bad things happen": excessive drinking, domestic arguments, etc. I think that was the message Big Ben got: look, you may or may not have done anything legally wrong, you don't have charges against you, but you're putting yourself in situations that draw Drama, and it needs to stop. On the third hand there's this: That's a song I'm sure those officers have heard before on a "domestic" call - someone who shows physical signs of abuse shifts the blame or "can't remember" That's another song those officers have heard before - someone who shows physical signs of abuse holds back from testimony that could lead to charges because they don't want to damage the livelihood of the person who may have committed the abuse (or initially testifies, then recants) I'm not saying that Haskins did anything wrong, I'm just saying there are a few clues that he may have had a physical part in a physical altercation and there may have been a reason his wife/fiance took a swing at him (if she did) So there's that.
  13. LOL that was my thought. His college stats: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/reggie-gilliam-1.html On the other hand, I'm sure every team needs a handful of guys who do their job, do it well, and don't cry about lack of stats And if "low man wins" blocking he does have that advantage
  14. ooooh.....Norman seems like a likeable guy and all, but I kinda didn't think he played like a respectable corner.
  15. Yeah, that's why I thought it was funny. He looks like such a kid, totally unassuming, just chilling in the background of his girlfriend's family get-together. If a non-Bills fan was asked "who is the wealthy, famous person in that picture?" how many people would pick him?
  16. Being an incurable geek, I pasted the lyrics into Word and used it to count the instances. Red light = 25 Roxanne = 26 You're welcome
  17. Oh, HA, I didn't think of that. He does bear a superficial resemblance!
  18. The thing about Brady is that he's got this time proven ability to dial it up to another level when the game gets bigger and it's all on the line. Though IMHO, it was a total CF to have the Bucs beat the Packers in the NFC Championship. No QB who throws 3 picks should be going to the Superbowl. In my opinion.
  19. Of course as a Bills fan I agree with you. But just trying to suss out what someone else may be thinking... Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes. Top QB last year in terms of passing: Deshaun Watson, shorn of his best WR and playing on a crap team. A threat with his legs, and has been a top QB for 3 seasons. Matt Ryan. I wouldn't take him over Allen, but he was a top passing QB on a crap team last season and has been a good QB for a long time. Russ Wilson. Top QB for the last 6 years or so. Superbowl winner. MVP candidate at the beginning of the season, said he's the best QB in football. Dual Threat QBs: Lamar Jackson, league MVP of 2019. I can see where some guys would have him in the mix. Total yards should count, so I can see where he's up there to some. Kyler Murray, dual threat with an arm. Again, I think rushing yards should count, so I can see where he's up there to some Again, not saying that's how I see it, but saying that based on last year's performance, plus history as a QB, I can see where a football knowledgeable guy might see it that way.
  20. Oh, Man, I'm both glad and sad you told us this. I was already plotting how I could attend, but to go halfway across the country for 30 minutes would kinda peeve me.
  21. Well, he opted out last season and spent most of the previous 2 seasons on IR so...I'd rather see us keep a roster spot for Reggie Gilliam or an extra DLman
  22. Think it does How can you tell if we value drama over football news, if there IS no football news? Your point would have to be taken as dogma, something that can not be proven or disproved through observation
  23. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/reggie-gilliam-one-of-more-intriguing-players-on-bills-roster/article_38fe8f8e-e0fa-11eb-997d-9ba3e9fb2cf9.html I didn't realize how short he was: His college coaches have fine things to say about him and his background: I want more at TE and more at RB for the Bills, but I can't help rooting for this kid.
