“Can we go to football?” ”Great! Thanks Sal! I’ll give you a 20 when we’re done” Beane says we’re at 80%. No mention of pushing to get to 85%, if that’s going to be a thing. He sounded relatively relaxed about it. That would mean 18 players unvaccinated. I wonder what the percentage would be on the likely 53-man roster.

That segue from Josh to Jon is hilarious -
I don’t have any good insights into the difference between “mental issues” and “inability to handle competitive pressure”, but after listening to the commentary, when Biles did her first vault the expert was aghast. She said that Biles had (I forget the gymnast term she used), which she explained meant that she had lost track of where she was in the air. She singled what should have been a double and looked like she almost wrecked her ankles on the landing. Given all the problems she had on the qualifying day (she not only stepped out of bounds, she stepped off the actual floor routine platform), the best analogy I have is to someone suddenly developing the “Yips” If that’s the case, for safety she pretty well has to withdraw. Given her power and difficulty, she could easily break a limb or her neck if she can’t track where she is in the air. But I feel horrid for the girl who didn’t make the team event yet attended the Olympics as an individual competitor, Jade Carey And I really have mixed feelings about Biles competing as an individual when she withdrew from the team competition.

Huge effect. Biles has the most difficult routines and normally executes at a very high level. Also, Team competition is normally 4 up, 3 count - so it made it 3 up, 3 count. One of the other girls had a step out and then a bad fall on floor and they had to count her. I’ve been enjoying Tony Hawk commenting on the skateboarding. He’s great.

John, What are “NFL minimum thresholds” and what impact does meeting them have? I can’t keep up Thanks -
You mean, the next preseason hero who gets cut, bounces around 3 teams with 0 starts for the next 3 years, then finally gets a shot 4 years out and has 166 rushes for 650 yds? You do realize that’s what happened to Joique Bell - it’s not like he switched to another team and was an immediate success elsewhere. And we don’t seem to regard 156 attempts for 687 yds (more yards on less carries) as very successful in these parts.

This could just be me When someone leads off with the term “floozy” for a degreed professional woman with years of experience in the job position she’s hired for, I wonder if they have much brain to wash. Again, could just be me 🤷♂️ I was responding to a chap who asserted that our Bills ESPN reporters were terrible, and were Patriots fans. I assert that’s 0 for 2 in describing Marcel L-J

The “lose some” is controversial here. -
Maybe we ought to do a GoFundMe for Aaron Rodgers personal herd of Drama Llamas, make sure they get some extra oats or whatever Llamas like for a treat

OK, Gents, time to take this one elsewhere.

I didn’t want to start a new thread we have to police, but this quite lengthy interview with JC Tretter is interesting and relevant: Article from Cleveland.com I had to give my email address to read it, so a few key points: -he had a conference call with a group of 15 concerned NFL players (described as “mostly unvaccinated) on Sunday -they are all pissed off about the NFL’s memo on forfeiting games - Tretter said it created “panic and frenzy” -they feel the league is setting up a divisive scenario between vaccinated and unvaccinated players and trying to coerce players to get vaccinated, after agreeing it would be voluntary [I can’t say they’re wrong] -Tretter defends the protocols and fines for unvaccinated players as “the same as last year”, not new

Not that it’s Germaine to the main point of your excellent post, but per his twitter Beasley says he is not religious at all. He seems to think he’s scored a clever point here but I’m unsure what he believes that point to be.
