  1. Good article on Gabe from Marcel L-J. Assembles a lot of quotes and soundbites we've seen elsewhere, but it's nice to see them all put together in an easy read https://www.espn.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/36195/will-buffalo-bills-gabriel-davis-take-next-step-stefon-diggs-believes-so I hadn't realized Davis led the league last year in Y/R: One of the most valuable things Davis seems to have done is to get veterans like Diggs invested in his development and actively trying to help him improve:
  2. Article on yesterday off of Buffalobills.com https://www.buffalobills.com/news/top-3-things-to-know-from-day-5-at-2021-bills-training-camp Interesting comment from Daboll about the value of having a backup who has played a lot of games: Has a link to 65 photos from training camp for your eye-candy fix
  3. I don’t go with ranking a rookie above a guy who has won games in the NFL. He’s got to prove it first. Just me, maybe
  4. OK, I’m going to sound like I’m nitpicking you but that’s not the intent.....what do you mean by “all 3 impress”? As WR? For what aspects of WR play? Can they all block being the LOS? Downfield? Can they all run a complete route tree? Do they all play ST? What role on ST? A lot of folks here were absolutely thrilled with Foster and his burner speed. But in games, it turned out he couldn’t get a clean release and would get bumped or held, throwing off his timing...and he struggled to track the ball in the air AND run full tilt. Plus, he couldn’t run other routes well and was not so hot at blocking, so it was kind of “OK, Foster’s in, they’re gonna try a deep shot”. I understand what I think you’re getting at...you can’t coach speed, so if you can take a speed guy and coach him up to play up to his speed and run crisp, fluid routes and release well off the line, you have a rare, valuable asset. The problem is on our roster, to win this year, we only have so many spots for guys who may be rare, valuable assets next year or in 2 years
  5. But what does “all things equal” mean to you in this context?
  6. Yeah, I could be wrong but I think if a guy is still on the Covid-19 list, he isn't on the field with his teammates.
  7. Last year we had Diggs/Brown/Beasley/Davis/McKenzie/Roberts This year we have Diggs/Sanders/Beasley/Davis. It all depends upon how things shake out - if McKenzie wins the KR/PR job and also gets time on the gadget plays and as the backup to Beasley in the slot, then the door opens for another WR to be on the roster. Kumerow, as a big target with veteran savvy who can contribute on ST, would be a very reasonable choice. To beat him out, I think Stevenson or Hodgins have to be ready to contribute more as WR AND contribute on teams (again, this is assuming that McKenzie wins the KR/PR job) I commented that I'd seen some good blocking in the backfield by Kumerow in another thread and said I'd look for some clips. Here's one of Kumerow (#16) on the blindside handling Jadaveon Clowney: Here's another one of Kumerow in the backfield just erasing Panthers safety Eric Reid to spring a nice run play. Wipes him all the way across and takes him out of the play (about :50 in if you wanna skip the GB hype). Bonus: nice ST tackle at 1:40 If McKenzie doesn't claim the KR/PR spot - if, for example, Stefenson or Powell claim one or the other or both - then of course the situation changes.
  8. Does anyone know where to find the NFL covid-19 list and injury list for preseason? Want to see if Feliciano is listed on the latter Want to confirm Boettger is off the former
  9. Oh Ho Ho https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/nfl/bears-nick-foles-open-being-traded-right-situation Frank Reich reunited with his starting QB from his Superbowl winning OC days in Philly Starting QB injured, out for at least part of season "Enter Sandman" 😈😈😈
  10. What he says about Knox: One major gap in Sal's article is lack of commentary on various ST battles so far. KR/PR: It was commented early on that McKenzie looked notably better than Stevenson or Powell - smoother, more fluid and confident. Would also like more input on how McKenzie is looking at WR. Gunner: I read that Brieda was taking some ST snaps at Gunner. That would be interesting, because if Brieda can lock down gunner as well as RB#3, that could arguably open up a roster spot for another position OR an opportunity for a different RB#4
  11. I don't disagree with you, but I have heard others talking about Davis as our #2 WR this year.
  12. His point was to call out some successful QB who play a very different game then he does, a pocket presence game. Who else would you suggest he call out as someone to watch in that regard? Matt Ryan? Matt Stafford? Derek Carr? It seems to be a fact that most of the top QBs in the league these days are mobile QB who can extend plays and gain yards with their feet as well - Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen, Watson, Wilson, Murray.
  13. Another quote from Joe B's article, from Daboll's interview. Sounds like Gabe Davis is earmarked for the #4 role:
  14. I'm pretty sure Beane could structure the deal so that a new contract would be less than the 5th year option
  15. Matt Parrino Article The rumors of Gabe Davis struggles may be exaggerated. With Diggs and Beasley both back on the field, Parrino saying Davis led the way in targets AND that Allen completed 17 straight passes. So Davis can't be dropping too many, or struggling too hard to get open. I would like to hear more about how my boy Isaiah is doing though
  16. Errrr....apologies if this is very dense, but if the offense is trying something that's not working, how is that to be distinguished from the QB struggling? I realize the receiver could be running the wrong route or running the route the wrong way, or the OL is allowing defensive pressure that hurries the QB...but don't all of those usually, for most QB, get chalked up to "QB struggling"? We usually say "errant pass" not "errant WR" and "QB threw INT" not "WR ran bad route" - in fact, I've usually heard the latter described as "excuse making"
  17. Just putting this update from today's practice here: News of positive test broke last Weds (could have resulted from Tuesday test since positive MESA results may be conformed by RT-PCR) Boettger was observed on the sidelines at practice today working with a trainer https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31884363/how-nfl-training-camps-work-2021-answering-big-questions-new-covid-19-protocols-rules-unvaccinated-players
  18. I await to be educated: what uses would a new outdoor football stadium in WNY have, outside of the NFL?
  19. But here's the thing...what are the "any number of other events" a purpose-built outdoor football stadium in WNY may be used for?
  20. Good work.... So basically 0 out of 32 stadia were 100% publicly funded?
  21. I personally don’t think the position in the 6th round is going to influence who is kept. The situation is our WR depth is good, so unless Stevenson wins the KR/PR job or shows rookie route running skills on approximately the level of Gabe Davis last season, there’s not room for him on the roster. Same principle with Damar Hamlin. I don’t see us keeping more than 4 safeties, so we have Poyer, Hyde, Joaquon Johnson then whichever of Josh Thomas (last year’s UDFA signing) or Damar Hamlin plays better at this point. Stevenson is more likely to be poached because he has that uncoachable thing (speed) but what’s the alternative? Cutting a guy who can contribute this year, when we hope to contend for a championship doesn’t seem worth the trade off. Bottom line the Bills seem likely to cut some players I’m sure they would rather keep. And that’s a Good Problem.
