  1. Late signing at LB. Has made some plays in camp, but probably little chance for the roster.
  2. Looks like we're trying to evaluate Sweeney Gilliam and Singletary as receivers
  3. Chillax a bit. Beasley failed to catch a low throw in the first NE game in 2019 resulting in a deflection for a pick-6. It happens. McKenzie isn't a perfect slot receiver; he's developing, he got better last year, now we see if he took another step. If he were a great developed receiver, he wouldn't be playing for just over vet minimum on a 1 yr contract. Don't BBQ the guy for one missed catch
  4. I get the rest of that list, but what's up with Mike Love and Bug Howard? I would have thought they're the bottom-of-the-roster guys we want to get a look at
  5. I expect when a guy is 29, 6'4", and lighter than 210, it's already been suggested to him a few times that he add 30 lbs and convert to TE It's probably not something his frame is able to do and maintain athleticism A 209 lb TE ain't happenin'
  6. Interesting roster review by Fairburn and Buscaglia in the Athletic https://theathletic.com/2765876/2021/08/12/observations-on-all-92-buffalo-bills-players-as-they-head-into-the-preseason/ If there's any positions on offense where you want to hear their take, LMK. I'm focusing on D here. Their take on the DE roster battle. They see Hughes and Addison as locks. Their take on the DT roster battle. See Lotulelei and Oliver as locks. Their take on the LB roster battle: Their take on the CB roster battle:
  7. That is a great article. This part struck me as of general applicablitity:
  8. OMG Stefon "Instagram Model" Diggs Dawson Knox with the flirty head toss - show it on the field, Boy I thought "who is that tall sturdy blond guy that kinda looks like Beas?" then I realized he was walking out next to McKenzie for the Lilliputian definition of tall sturdy Detroit Defense: LOL at the writer explaining to fans what blitzing is
  9. So what's the laser pointer guy story? I don't seem to remember it.
  10. So, seriously.....as far as learnings ....as far as facing Detroit, found this coverage. https://www.mlive.com/lions/2021/08/ask-kyle-whos-trending-up-in-lions-camp-and-whos-not.html Lions are taking great pride in their 2019 1st round pick TE TJ Hockenson (6'5" 247) and new-to-them 34 yr old TE Darren Fells (6'7", 270 lbs). Word is it that the TE group is looking the best in camp, next to their OL.   Sounds like this game will be a good opportunity for the Bills defense to test out their ideas for how to counter a run-heavy team that relies on short and intermediate passes to a big TE and slot, and a deep threat passing game, and see how some of their new players handle it. On Jared Goff:
  11. That'd be why I'm afraid. He might be great some time but that time is not Now
  12. Geez, Dawkins looks conic (cone-shaped). Does NOT look "fit" and ready for football. Looked like he was positively lumbering during his runs on the sidelines the other day, too. C'mon Shnowman, Josh Needs You!
  13. I swear he looks like someone my kid would bring home to sit around the LR with a bunch of friends and play some video game or another
  14. OMG OMG OMG Josh Allen dressed up like he's channeling Coach McDermott. That Hat!
  15. The reports I saw were that Knox has been having a good and consistent camp and the drop he had the other day was uncharacteristic. People who I think normally do a reasonably centered job of reporting like Sal Capaccio etc.
  16. Buffalo Rumblings did a nice post on Sanders injury history. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/3/18/22335277/injury-analysis-buffalo-bills-wr-emmanuel-sanders-2021-nfl-free-agency The bottom line is that for much of his career he missed 0 games despite some pretty serious injuries (cracked rib etc) You make it sound as though foot injuries has been a persistent issue his whole career. He had foot problems requiring surgery his rookie season and problems with stress fractures/inflammation in the foot the following season, but none since then. It hasn't been an issue since his 2nd season in the league and was probably due to rushing back from the foot surgeries as a rookie. He's played through some pretty bad injuries, and has missed games with a collection of common football injuries - meniscus tear in the knee, ankle sprain eventually requiring a tightrope procedure, torn Achilles. I'm not saying the repeated absences from training camp are good. They're not, and they're worrying me. But there's precedent for him missing preseason but playing the entire season, and he hasn't had foot problems the last 2 years.
  17. Lawrence comes across as not arrogant, in fact maybe a bit too laid-back, in interviews. But it's a fact that top draft pick college QBs can start out "knowing more than the coach" sometimes. Josh Allen tells a story from his rookie year where he was supposed to check to the FB but he threw to the back corner of the endzone and "it didn't go too well". Said Daboll started screaming in his headset right away. He took it off and he could still hear Daboll screaming. Said he went over to the sidelines and Daboll was red in the face and screaming at him for about five minutes, eventually calmed down, walked away, then thought about it and came back and started screaming again. Was asked by the reporter what he said, Allen said "Wasn't much to say. Just check to the FB next time."
  18. He HAS flourished, but from his rookie year with no OL, poor WR, and no run game, I do think he collected some bad habits it took time to work out of him. And his injury could have been worse.
  19. I forget who made this comment, except that it was someone whose football knowledge I respect....he said that in a camp competition between a rookie and a veteran, even a mediocre veteran who is not starting-caliber will ALWAYS win. He knows the offense better, he knows the protections better, he knows what he's seeing from defense better. It's only in the regular season when the speed of the game rachets up and the defenses become more confusing that the limitations of the journeyman QB show through (exhibit: Nathan Peterman). He argued that teams with a rookie QB need to just look at the rookie and ask "is he seeing *enough*? does he understand *enough* about the defense and the protections and/or is he mobile enough, to keep himself alive?" If the answer is "yes" let him start and take your lumps in the W column if need be. If not, he has no business starting no matter who wins. Made sense to me.
  20. I think they'll keep 4 DT so yes, Phillips outside looking in if they really think Zimmer is better now But there's a lot of pre-season left Zimmer didn't get a lot of snaps last season - typically 26% to 36% except for last game. I think Phillips showed more of an upward trend towards the end of the season. I expect to see them get a lot of looks during pre-season games. Obada - I think they'll keep 6 DE, so I wouldn't say he's on the outside looking in, but they like Darryl Johnson and he also plays teams. So there's a lot of pre-season there too Sweeney - they kept 3 TE last season plus Gilliam Kumerow apparently plays ST so Hodgins is going to have to show something there to win that Doyle may find himself with an injured thumb or plantar fasciitis and going on IR Antonio Williams, def. on outside looking in unless Moss IRs to start the season Duke Williams, no surprise, right? I'm not sure what this is "telling" of So maybe they are trying out different combinations But one of the big deals they made in the off season was how they would have continuity Well, if you mix and match the guards - there goes any continuity
