  1. No, the NFL rules are that vaccinated players don't need to quarantine as close contacts because they are less likely to contract (thus spread) the virus. Here is a link to data: No such studies are coming out. See above. Possible, yes. "Just as possible" no. This is ranging into general Covid discussion and should not be continued. What the NFL is probably going to do, is resume testing of vaccinated individuals at a more frequent interval than 1x in 14 days, and resume universal masking indoors except when distanced for eating. This will probably not occur until at least one team has an outbreak, however.
  2. Yep. I wish the guys would just all get vaccinated, but the NFLPA negotiated choice on that issue, so it's their right to say "No"
  3. I could be wrong, but I believe all personnel with player contact are required by the NFL to be vaccinated, including food service, training staff, and massage therapists. My guess would be a trainer or S&C staff. This is one of my big issues with the NFL's policies this year - they are only testing vaccinated players and staff 1x every 2 weeks or if they're symptomatic. The NFL's policies are "behind" the changing landscape of Delta transmission. I would love to go into the science behind this, but just a reminder that is against board policy so don't Y'all either.
  4. What "weird hate" is this? No one hates Duke. We'd all love him to succeed. He had a a big game against Tenn. in 2019 (4 for 4). He got chances the next 2 weeks when the receiver corps wasn't "locked down", and he didn't get open (1 for 1, 1 for 2) so he went back to the practice squad to polish his craft. He got another chance in the final game of the season and got targeted a LOT (6 for 12) by Barkley, which earned him a chance to make some big plays in a big game, the playoff game. He didn't - 4 receptions on 10 targets. As a result, the Bills decided they needed an upgrade at WR in 2020 and they got one, by trading for Diggs, drafting Gabe Davis, and Isaiah Hodgins, and eventually signing Jake Kumerow as PS competition. Duke could have used his extra year in the offense and with Josh to outplay rookie Davis for the "bit player/blocker/backup WR" role, but instead, Davis outplayed Duke and now it looks as though journeyman Kumerow is outplaying Duke. Duke still got a chance as a "bit player" at the active roster last year week 7 against the Jets, and he didn't manage to get open/get targets. Seems to me he's had more chances than most "fringe players" receive, I'm not sure what utilization you think he should have gotten? Duke also got some ST snaps in 2019 (up to 1/3 of the snaps in final 2019 game) and evidently failed to impress there, too, which kind of dooms him - the #4-6 WR MUST be able to play teams (Gabe Davis did some last season, unless he was filling in for an injured #1-3 WR; McKenzie does, Kumerow shines at it). I think there might be rosters in the NFL, including the Bills rosters of 2017-2018, where Williams could be a #2 or #3 WR and not apparently earning his way as a core ST'er wouldn't doom him, but the Bills aren't one of those rosters. It's probably best for both sides that he move on, and hopefully a WR-needy team will take a look at him.
  5. Sort of. During the regular season, can't come back for 6 weeks after the end of the settlement period. I'm not sure what applies during pre-season
  6. He hasn't looked too good in the preseason games. He looks like a guy who needs time to develop. PS candidate.
  7. Yeah, waived/injured is sort of the first part of an injury settlement for a player subject to waivers. If the player is claimed, fine; if he isn't the team can reach an injury settlement with him (or IR him). The injury settlements apparently have clauses against "double dipping" so if another team has interest it's simpler if he's just claimed.
  8. Kumerow ran a great route and caught a pass for a TD. THEN he nailed the returner on the ensuing kickoff. But, it was after a 24 yd return to the CHI 30, so not as impressive as it could have been. Our ST coverage on kickoffs (and there were a lot) was not as stingy as I would have liked to see, but it may have been because the usual core ST guys were starting on offense or defense and more tired, and/or they were trying out more depth players to see how they'd do.
  9. According to NFL.com's play by play, you're both wrong: it was Siran Neal. If the question is "who is our best backup boundry corner?" I don't think he's the answer, but he's a helluva ST guy.
  10. I think Lamp was injured very early in camp. It's a shame, I had high hopes for him.
  11. Fair When did Wallace play on Saturday? He isn't listed in Sal Capaccio's snap counts.
  12. I would have thought, CWade and Williams there, but they're both injured at the moment
  13. Curious, which of the guys we cut got picked up? 08/15 Released DT Eli Ankou, LB Mike Bell, OL Caleb Benenoch, OL Marquel Harrell and OL Syrus Tuitele.
  14. Could be. The mildly intriguing factors (for me) is that Harris actually played against us, meaning the coaches got to see him in person and that the RB Whyte is personally known to Motor and super-fast.
  15. Interesting - another "fast guy". He was drafted by the Bears in 2019, signed off the Bears PS by the Steelers and played for them a bit, waived at final cutdowns in 2020 and signed to the Lions PS until he was IR'd last October. I can't find info on what the injury was or whether he's been in an NFL team's camp this summer. ----------------- Tim Harris was in camp with the 49ers, who drafted him in 2019, put him on IR, and had him on the PS in 2020 where he was elevated for 2 games in December. In fact, one of the games was against us! "On August 4, 2021, Harris was waived/injured by the 49ers and placed on injured reserve. He was released on August 11." I think the 49ers have decent secondary depth so...
  16. That's a really good question. During training camp, players get housing, food, medical care, and a per-diem payment reported as $850/week for a rookie and $1600/week for a veteran. These guys aren't rookies in that they were drafted in 2019, but I don't know if they need an "accrued season" to get the vet $$. It also ends "a week before the regular season".
  17. https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-sign-rb-kerrith-whyte-and-cb-tim-harris This is mentioned in the "Last Duke Williams Thread", but thought it deserved its own commentary. Interesting that he was a teammate of Motor Big guy for a CB. So....are these guys just "camp fodder" to take the field in the final game? Or, given that Antonio Williams was injured in the 1st preseason game (and didn't do too well) and that TBD fave Christian Wade has a shoulder injury and hasn't been seen in a LooooooOooooong time....is it a sign that an injury settlement might be near for Williams and we're auditioning for PS depth at RB? Also given the questionmarks at backup CB, has Harris shown enough that we might be interested after a week-long audition? Discuss
  18. You really would. Fitzpatrick has commented on how being a backup is a very different role, you kind of have to wonder if it's a mental/team chemistry thing where he hasn't made that adjustment
  19. Yeah, Bortles might be the best available for Atlanta. Kind of wonder why he's available though. The latter. Man, the NFL is a tough gig. 3rd overall in the 2014 draft, played for the Conference Championship in 2017, now kicking around the league with his stuff packed in a shopping cart. Career 59.3% completions, TD/INT ratio 1.37, 6.7 ypa, and he's only 29. Those aren't all-world stats, but you got to think he's better than a lot of #2 QB out there.
  20. Unless a guy improves his post-draft value by putting down some solid regular season play, his trade value is usually down a round or two from his draft slot. No one has seen Fromm in the regular season, and he's been a mixed story in the two preseason games - certainly didn't lay an egg, but didn't light anyone's hair on fire either; did have 3 nice passes and generally seemed poised and prepared. The 3rd and 4th string OL he had in front of him didn't do him any favors.
  21. Wait, when did Duke get injured? He wasn't on the list of players not seen at Sunday's practice and I don't recall him being announced as injured vs. the Bears He did fall down on a route and the Bills do, I think, have more class than to cut a possibly injured guy and leave him without treatment...if he's waived/injured and not claimed, the Bills are still responsible for his medical treatment and rehab. Shame about Lamp
