NFL Cuts /Cut Tracker
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Starr Almighty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you thinking of this as a Bills thread, or a general thread? It's fine either way, but you might change the title to reflect your intent. We'll probably want a thread focused only on the Bills' cuts and one for general. PS the list shows as cuts, two players who are on the Bills IR (Duke Williams and Forrest Lamp) -
I think it's possible but while I hope he continues to develop with the Bills, I hope he doesn't. Let me explain a little bit. Diggs didn't really break out until 2017 ("Miracle in Minneapolis catch that sent them to conf. championship) and he didn't become the uncontested #1 until last season, his 6th in the league. Sanders didn't really become "a" Top Dog until his 5th year, when he switched teams from Pittsburgh to Denver. Pittsburgh had a deep WR room when he came into the league and he was down the depth chart behind Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown. In Denver he had to share honors with Demaryius Thomas. So one aspect is to really get there, it can take time - 3-4 years. Being able to contribute behind 1-2 stronger WR who draw the top coverage, is not the same as being able to One facet of a team with a clear #1, is that they don't have a very deep WR room. When you do, it's harder to argue a guy is a clear #1. Diggs was a clear #1 last year. It would be nice to have 2 WR close to that caliber (Wallace and AB; Demaryius Thomas and Sanders) If we find ourselves a couple years from now debating whether or not Davis is the #1 on the team, that will be a Good Thing. For now, he's a very capable Sorcerer's Apprentice to one Stefon Diggs.

Things I was right about: -Trubisky would look good -Hollister would be a nice addition -McKenzie would win the KR/PR competition over Stevenson and Powell (not as sure a thing since he's now injured and Stevenson got his Shot) -AJ Epenesa would look ready to make a step Things I was wrong about: -Lamp and Douglas would make a serious challenge to start at G -Knox would show great improvement in focus/drops -Rousseau would look very raw and not ready to contribute -Wade would make a splash

Thanks I had thought he was injured the whole time he was on the bench. Looking at https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TrubMi00/gamelog/2020/, it appears he did not play from weeks 4-7, is credited with 1 rush (would that be wildcat?) week 8, was out injured weeks 9-10, and started weeks 11 and 12. So he may have been the backup qb for a stretch (weeks 4-8?) I sit corrected. @Chandler#81 posted this above, I can't the post quickly so just re-post. I wonder what is "head injury" vs "concussion"? Does anyone know what happened and who was playing C on the Davis Webb fumble?

Matt Parrino Article https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/08/bills-josh-allen-lights-up-packers-in-preseason-finale-gabriel-davis-is-a-problem-8-observations.html Focus on what he had to say about D, nothing that will surprise anyone here: He likes Klein: I'd really like to keep Obada. If our goal is to significantly improve our pass rush, I'm not persuaded we can change things by keeping them the same:

https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/08/josh-allen-bills-starting-offense-looks-ready-for-week-1-preseason-week-3-stock-up-stock-down.html Ryan Talbot article. Four receptions are great, but he was listed with 8 targets. What happened on the other 4? (haven't had a chance to watch full game yet) Strong words about Bobby Hart, but I don't think anyone here would disagree.

Remember "I hope Joey Bosa is OK" tweeted by Matt Barkley? Allen was shaken up and got helped off the field in the middle of a set of downs and Barkley came in for one play (and promptly took a bad sack). Allen was OK and returned to the game the next play. The experienced backup QB needs to be aware he can be thrown into the game for a snap or two at any time. Trubisky has never been a backup QB before.

White is great. Wallace is OK. Big step down to Dane Jackson, then there's a cliff, seems to me. I dunno, seems to me Poyer and Hyde work together so seamlessly that even a good safety plugged in for one of them is a big step down. Hyde is playing so far this year like his jock is on fire and only an interception will put it out. Seriously, he said so? [Edit: just saw Sal C's tweet, so I now know you got it]

Has the NFL ever allowed 'pick protections' on a trade? I know they've allowed conditional picks based on starts, playing time etc. But based on suspension or criminal prosecution? That would, IMO, NOT be a good look for the "Shield" Or at least, accused of being pond scum. I think it goes to show in the NFL that ultimately, Talent overrides Character.

I can not bring myself to hide the news of this glorious conjunction. Good work, by the way. Experience here suggests that it shall serve as an irresistibly attractive Gateway Drug for people to wail about politicians/restrictions and pontificate about Covid in general. I am compromising by locking it but pinning it overnight I encourage all to offer their congratulations to @Rubes by emoji and in PM.

I don't think an unvaccinated player who gets sick and infects others should get hate. He's sick! Unless he's being an asshat about it, he should get sympathy! The vaccinated player has taken extra steps in his power to prevent this, and the unvaccinated player has not, which is of course why some people feel differently. That said, I think Arians and Tampa have it right, and the current protocols aren't sufficient

I say "I'm sorry you feel that way", but I doubt anyone literally smashed them up against the wall and threatened them or bullied them. Their union made the vaccine optional. Their union also signed off on unvaccinated players following last year's protocols. The NFLPA has said repeatedly including on Twitter "if you feel you are being coerced or threatened to get vaccinated, we want to know. Correct, unvaccinated close contacts are out 5 days, vaccinated have to test (I believe) but are not out. Last statement on % symptomatic is incorrect per latest CDC data with Delta variant, Gentle reminder to keep it away from general covid discussion.

Waitaminnut, I just looked at the NFL.com box score. They said it was a failed 2-point conversion attempt on the 2nd touchdown, so surely that wouldn't have been Epenesa at center. Is NFL.com wrong and it was really an XP, not a 2 point conversion? They get stuff wrong, but 2 pt vs XP is a pretty massive difference.
