  1. This aged well. How are you feeling about it? I'm kind of like, if you're gonna start the rookie, just plan on it and start the rookie. It did Allen no good to be #3 through training camp, #2 going into Game 1, then become the starter in the 2nd half of Week 1
  2. I think you're creating a controversy so you can whine about it. Most posters here are aware of Allen talking about it. They're also aware that being initially too "amped up" was probably not a deciding factor in either home wins, or home losses back in 2019. I have not read anyone saying it's "fake news" The criticisms you have faced are for assuming 1) it's related to a full stadium at home and not just to "playing football" (which is what your Josh quote says - not that he's "amped up" by the home crowd, that he's "amped up" by getting to play football) 2) it will remain a problem after dramatically improving his abilities (and thus his confidence) as a QB 3) it affects the entire game 4) it's been a deciding factor in wins and losses
  3. Now I'm confused. Did Star take a "modest pay cut" in exchange for getting something that benefited him - increased guaranteed salary, something all players seem to want because they understand it's the only money they're sure of? Or was Star "coerced" into a pay cut which left him so"embittered" that he "decided he could take or leave ever suiting up for that team again" and "was only concerned about getting every penny he can without having to earn it"? Seems like "Either Or, not Both". Either he took only a modest pay cut and received generous guarantees in exchange - Win-Win, no reason to be embittered Or he was "coerced" into a deep paycut for which he received so little personal benefit that he's now toting a huge personal grudge against Beane and the Bills and is out to "stick it to them"
  4. Back in May, someone pointed out there is not evidence that Star received the higher payment for a high-risk opt out *rummage* *rummage* here it is: The $150,000 "opt out" payment was an advance on this year's salary. I'm not sure how a salary advance constitutes "found money": https://www.si.com/nfl/giants/news/explaining-the-nfl-opt-out-options-and-the-salary-cap-impact
  5. I don't want to "Debbie Downer" a good rant, now I would like to point out we really don't know if any of the players who were placed on reserve/covid as contacts have "refused to get vaccinated" (except for Beasley, who seems to have a crusade to tell us all about it) If a player decided to get vaccinated on 27 July when camp started or afterwards, and chose a 2 dose vaccine, he would have received has 2nd dose on either 17 August (Pfizer) or 24 August (Moderna). Neither would not count as "fully vaccinated" August 22 or 23 when the close contact must have occurred (for them to be back for the 3rd game) We now return you to your regularly scheduled Rantations
  6. Depending on how they were printed, it's possible the ink could run if it's raining when you enter Might want to put them in a plastic holder Just a thought
  7. >500 yds, but deceptive as hell Big Ben threw 4 picks and had a "bad throw" percentage of 20.9. He had a decent completion percentage of almost 70%, but more than 2/3 of his passing yards were air yards, in part indicating that the throws were a bit off target and didn't hit the receivers so they could run He's an aging gladiator, and he fought like hell to get his team back into it after a fumbled snap, 2 picks and a punt spotted Cleveland a 28-0 lead in just over 13 minutes. But his picks also put them there.
  8. TF, man? "Impossible to run on", you get this how? First, the Steelers had a very good D LAST SEASON. That's LAST SEASON. But even there, they weren't a #1 D against the run. Try #12 in Y/A and #11 in total rushing yards. That's solid, and better than the Bills run D, but it's hardly "impossible" Second, That was Then, This is Now The reason they had a great run D was their fantastic front 7. They lost a key player in Bud Dupree. Melvin Ingram is a great player nearing the end of his career and coming off a knee injury. Alex Highsmith, who I believe started 5 games last season, is ahead of him on the depth chart and was on injury report this week with a groin injury, though he practiced in full on Friday and has no game status. They also replaced one of their ILB Probably the biggest loss for the Steelers right now is having Stephon Tuitt on IR and out for the game. So - Last seasons results don't guarantee this season's results, either for them or for us. And, they are missing 2 of 7 key pieces and have changed out a 3rd.
  9. Him and the rest of the league. Of course, Daboll and his staff and our offense have been sitting there saying "Oh well" and not working out how they could counter it
  10. That's an interesting point. I had not noticed that. I thought the Bills ran all over NE for different reasons (like rainy windy weather and giving Allen's shoulder a chance to heal so he could better dissect Seattle the following week) But if NE was running a 4/7, no wonder we had 38 rush attempts to 18 pass attempts and ran for 190 yds against them. It was the "Moss -n- Motor" show. Yeah, I'm reading that like "C'mon Man. You have one of the best front-7s in the league, and question marks at secondary - now you're saying you'll take off 3 of your front 7 to put more of these inexperienced, untried DBs on the field? Let's Party!....." I think it was Leslie Frazier (though it might have been Micah Hyde), before we played Arizona IIRC, about there being a balancing act when facing an unusual offense - you want to adapt, but given a week to prepare, you can't get too far away from what you do best or you'll create problems for yourself with communication and so forth. Overall last season, the Bills ran a 60/40 pass/run ratio. We varied substantially from that a few times - NE was 32/68, SEA was 52/48 (with the first half being very pass-centric)
  11. This is starting to remind me of Rex Ryan before our 2nd game against NE in 2015, telling the media that after this Sunday the blueprint on how to beat NE would be out there. I mean...something we haven't seen before on defense...seriously? I guess 7 DB against our offense might be something we hadn't seen before, but C'mon man. The Bills are going to come out and run plays until you prove you can stop them, and not worry about "what they haven't seen before" or who's covering Diggs.
  12. The secret to true Buffalo Wings is that they aren't battered AT ALL, just fried so that the crunchy tasty coating is the skin. Neither does the traditional sauce involve Gluten. Some sauces have Soy Sauce in them, which is not gluten free, but also not "traditional" So are you saying Buffalo Wings taste like crap? That's kind of heretical.... The only issue for someone who is truly gluten intolerant, is they need a dedicated fryer that is not used to cook battered shrimp, fish, veggies etc. Otherwise the batter falling off that stuff is enough to contaminate the oil.
  13. Actually....Omission Brewing Co in Oregon (now owned by AB) makes a gluten-free Pale Ale that I drank in preference to a bunch of other beers at a get-together recently. Only figured out it was "gluten free" after the fact. Cant speak for sourdough or yeast pizza but the Cauliflower Crust pizza from Aldi's and from Costco is a good thin-crust style - it ain't homemade or hand crafted but it's decent if you bake it on a pre-heated pizza stone in a hot oven.
  14. I don't think Josh gives a damn what the Steelers DC says I do think he gives a damn what his coaches and teammates tell him, and that's, "Get down" "Get out of bounds" "Best ability is availability"
  15. I like the note of realism in that last Not even if it's amusing? I mean, they may be "all that and a Bag of Chips" as the saying goes But until they've played a down together in the regular season, Who Knows?
  16. Now you're just getting ridiculous. "I actually have a lot more confidence in an OL consisting of a 3rd round rookie center, a 4th round rookie LT, a 2nd year LG who saw significant snaps in what, 5 games last season, a former all-pro RG who was released after starting 9 games because he, um, sucked, and is hoping for redemption, and a former 3rd round pick going into his 4th season, who couldn't crack the lineup until last year BEFORE THEY'VE EVEN PLAYED A REGULAR SEASON SNAP or had to cope with all the disguised coverages and stunts DCs save for the regular season ---- than I did last year in an OL consisting of a multi-probowl LT who was widely respected as a Beast around the league, a probowl center and RG, and Okorafor." Outstanding stuff, this.
  17. Eh, the exact words in context aren't that "head hunter" like. I actually don't think he's saying much that our coaches wouldn't tell Josh. I also think Tasker may have a point.
  18. You aren't answering folks who point out the matchup issues, in detail. That means you ain't here to have any form of honest discussion or debate, you're just here to yap. I'll just leave this here as a little 🎤 drop moment until after the game.
  19. OK, but that's not what Keith Butler was suggesting. He said that if he finishes plays like a running back, we will treat him like a running back. Disciplined, sure. Spy? Can you give me some examples? Here's the thing, if you leave a spy on the QB, you're leaving another playmaker uncovered I haven't seen teams do this to us since early last season.
  20. No, not really I actually thought the part about Allen folding like a lawn chair and running for his life was pretty damned funny Unintentional humor perhaps
  21. Yeah, yeah. But if the QB makes himself a runner and lowers his shoulder to hit people and make extra yards, trying to gang tackle him is part of the game.
  22. Except Allen can still make big plays with his feet then get down or get out of bounds. The plays where Allen goes "Sicko Mode" and starts stiffarming people and running them over are usually bad outcomes for the Bills - face mask penalty for Allen, fumble in which we hope he's ruled down before the ball came out, etc etc. Where Allen's legs are most to be feared right now is behind the LOS, extending the play
