  1. It would appear that Schefter was mistaken
  2. Well, it's the school's twitter providing the link and it says "Proceeds Benefit Firebaugh High School (Josh Allen’s former school per QB1s wishes #BillsMafia" Proceeds to the school, not profits. Important difference. LOL I remember being on the beach with my kid in Miami in December - think she was 2 yrs old - we're sitting on the beach in swimsuits and maybe an unzipped rashguard. This guy with a Lifeguard hat ran by, came to a stop, backed up. He was wearing thermal tights, a thick pile jacket, and a fleece earband. Said "where are you from?" "Missouri" "OH! That would explain it". Apparently the natives consider December to be Hoodie weather.
  3. The choice was between playing great and getting the win
  4. I don't know if it means that - I think Weds am is when the trainers start sorting actual injuries from the normal dings and soreness of the Sunday game. So there are likely to be a few dings and dangs that turn out to be injuries that McD isn't aware of going into his presser. But I don't like that list. Rousseau DNP with a toe. White with a Shoulder, Jackson and Brown both with Knees, NOT what I wanted to see! Especially Tre White, we need him. On a positive note, Jordan Poyer "Limited" with his ankle and Taron Johnson "Full" with his groin are both positive trends, as is Obada "Full" with his ankle.
  5. Nice writeup. Essentially, using a safety as a "Cheetah Spy"
  6. I would re-frame that a bit. We NEED Milano healthy. There were games last season where he missed plays he would have made if he could have used both arms, for example. Healthy Milano >> Klein But 100% Klein may be ~= hampered Milano, given appropriate adjustments to the game plan. I think the history Bangedup Bills presents argue that unless it was just a twinge and Milano was pulled as a precaution, he is likely to miss the KC game. Remember, if a player tries "full go" while dealing with an injury, their chances of a re-injury that may be more severe and take longer to heal go up. I would rather have Milano miss 2 games and be healthy for the rest than to play, injured, and go on IR or be hampered the rest of the season. Just a counterpoint.
  7. That's a fair take. I watch most of McD's press conferences and I see a difference, but of course that's entirely subjective.
  8. Did anyone else notice McDermott's facial expressions when he was asked about Beasley? 1:30 in, 2nd question from Adam Benigni. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/press-conferences First he looked as though he was being force-fed a lemon. Then he made quite a frown. When Benigni asked about did he hear any booing he shook his head slightly and swallowed his lips. Me no think Coach McD is happy about this.
  9. To be clear, I am not arguing that not playing in 2017 was the reason Mahomes was so good in 2018. - though I do think the chance to watch a capable vet go about his business, prepare and recover each week is important to a rookie. My point is that we can’t say Mahomes was good right out of the gate because we didn’t see him right out of the gate.
  10. Well, some people have said that he worked on his game a lot that offseason, and came back a much better QB his 2nd camp. I don't remember who it was - Chiefs player, seems like more than one. I'll look. Hmmm....Tyreek Hill for one https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/patrick-mahomes-hilariously-reacts-to-tyreek-hill-s-trash-talk-about-him/ar-BB1bz7Wx You sound as though it's incredible to think something took place in the offseason but as Josh said about the 2020 off season "I got a lot better at football" Whether he was ready right out of the gate or not ready right out of the gate, the point is, he didn't get to play right out of the gate so we'll never know if he was or not.
  11. Texans LB 48 pushes Josh out of bounds, Josh grabs him and hauls him down. 48 gets up like "Damn, what just happened?"
  12. Another potentially significant difference is that it was Bob Sutton at DC in 2017 instead of Steve Spagnuolo. (And Matt Nagy as OC instead of Bienemy, but Reid is widely believed to mix it in more on offense than defense) I tend to feel Spagnuolo has McDermott's number, and maybe there's a bit of a backstory there as well. Spagnuolo was a 42 yr old defensive backs coach when Sean McDermott became "Andy Reid's Butler" (Ass't to the HC) in 2001. Spags had moved on to become a 48 yr old DC for the Giants in 2007. 8 years later, McD was DC of the Eagles at age 35 and Spags was the (ultimately failed) HC of the Rams at age 50. It wouldn't be a big surprise for there to be a bit of "juice" between the hardworking, aging coaching vet grinding along towards his chance, and the hot new guy on the fast track. The thing about McDermott, though, is he seems like the song "Tubthumping" - he may get knocked down but he'll be steely-eyed focused on what he can do differently and better until he solves you.
  13. To be fair it was true last season that Beasley would have a game where he'd "go off" for 8, 9, 11 receptions and then other games where he'd get 2 to 5 With accompanying YPG variance If teams play to take him away or have a really strong top corner, they can do it, but it comes at the cost of letting Diggs (and now Sanders) eat.
  14. Oh please. To Philly for Ertz, natch!!!!! Yes. I would think that would be the point of the signs.
  15. I think that would be because those guys are all rocking better Y/R. In the case of Davis and Sanders, more than 2x as many Y/R. In the case of Diggs, 40% more Y/R
  16. I stated exactly what searches I did and exactly what the results were. If anyone else did the same search, they would come up with the same result. That's not dishonesty. Dishonesty seems to be another word you keep using where Inigo Montoya calls it. We've all seen your previous hot takes. But by all means, keep banging that 'lil drum. Good on you for digging hard and deep enough into your posting past to uncover 5 positive comments. And kudos for paying your $100 bet.
  17. Appreciate the clarification, but shame on Schefty if so: Mahomes sat his entire rookie season, then was handed the keys to an offense that was 6th in points, 5th in yards, 7th in passing yards his rookie season (while he sat on the bench and watched Smith run it). Did KC's offense take a big step forward with Mahomes 2nd season (the first season he played)? Absolutely! He was amazing his rookie year! But we'll never know if he "came onto the scene firing on all cylinders" because he spent his first year in the NFL on the bench.
  18. Isn't he the one who was saying that Marrone would be the next coach of the Jets (the two of them shared an agent) after St Doug quit on the Bills?
  19. To give the man his propers, he's rocking a catch percentage of 78.1% at present. And he's got almost an additional reception per game over last season. Y/R at a career low, though. Think that has to do with how he's being covered and the routes he's being asked to run. Beasley is a helluva football player, no question. He did manage to walk away from it for 2 whole years with the Bills. Perhaps he's relapsed, but can re-enter "social media recovery".
  20. Fair point. But I'm not sure it goes down commensurate with revenue?
  21. Great. You said you love him during the 2nd half of a Pats game where we were kicking butt, you said he's good "this year, but let's see him in the playoffs" and you said he "defied the odds" "kudos to him". I don't call that "plenty of praise" - Revelation 3:16 to me vs. what you've said about Herbert just in this thread - but it's something, I guess. At least you paid up on your $100 bet. Kudos to you for that. You can't even concede that you were called out fairly for your prior bad takes. Instead it's somehow "dishonest" to point them out. Pshaw. I think my work here is done. from Owen Wister, The Virginian: A passenger came along, demanding in an important voice, “Where are these frogs?” He was a prominent New York after-dinner speaker, they whispered me, and out for a holiday in his private car. Reaching us and walking to the Virginian, he said cheerily, “How much do you want for your frogs, my friend?” “You got a friend hyeh?” said the Virginian. “That's good, for yu' need care taken of yu'.” And the prominent after-dinner speaker did not further discommode us.
  22. Announcer hot takes are sometimes ridiculous. I'm told they have scripted narratives to push. I remember watching one game where Lamar Jackson couldn't seem to buy a completion (his receivers weren't helping him), he would not pull the trigger to the open guys outside the numbers, and he scrambled and fumbled just as the announcer said "and if he keeps playing like it is, just put his bust in Canton already" or words to that effect. It was absurd. And I like Lamar Jackson.
  23. Murray, Burrows and (based on pre-draft analysis) Lawrence should really be in the mix. Hell, even Mayfield has staked a claim to at least be part of the convo. Nothing against Herbert - I think he's looked great. But to put him on a pedestal with Mahomes right now and omit these guys is silly.
