  1. Are you implying I'm not "familiar with the current state of technology"? The irony, it burns... It would be silly to cart an unnecessary monitor around in order to aim a little, relatively low resolution camera with limited focal range on the top at things.....you would want a real camera, with more of the focus abilities of the human eye. And if one team gets to have their own cameras on the sideline during the game then..... ......Oh, Forget It. Either I've made the point that this isn't as simple as some folks want to make it sound, or we're in terminal "missed point" territory
  2. Well said! There are people in the national media I will watch or listen to - Chris Sims, Greg Cosell, the GMFB team. Especially the former two Know Their Football and generally tell it like it is. Their takes are worth at least hearing. The GMFB team is just funny a lot of the time (plus has some guys on there who know football) "Pundits" who are the football equivalent of "Shock Jocks" on radio, are not worth giving attention to (Nick Wrong, "First Things First" in general, Colin Cowherd "The Herd" etc etc. They are the reason I have to go suck up to my Pittsburgh Fan Parrot-Owning Neighbor to have a convenient place to watch Monday's game live on a big screen, because in general ESPN is not worth the cable subscription to me. I have a homemade HD fractal antenna up in my attic that's worked well for years to bring in over-the-air TV. Fox Sports, even worse
  3. This boggles my mind. A monitor on a cart won't help. You're talking about a camera. Now if one coach gets a camera, or a live feed of every camera the NFL points at the field, is that or is that not a potential competitive advantage (say, in deciding on when to challenge). So now do both teams get that for that game? Then what about other games? And again (see above) the issue of secure communication and allowing other devices on the NFL sidelines. Fans beef about skullduggery and competitive advantage and then want to open a portal to it. How is this different from any other time a coach has missed a game due to a medical condition (heart problems, cancer, detached retina)? Why should Kingsbury get exceptions these guys did not? https://sports.yahoo.com/8-notable-nfl-coaches-missed-012137340.html?src=rss
  4. "So Quickly" didn't that investigation go on for a year, from July 2020 until July 2021 when the NFL fined the WFT "chump change" ($10M)? https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/01/us/nfl-washington-football-team-fine-workplace-culture/index.html But, I agree, "nothing (else) to see here" strikes me as highly improbable.
  5. I get it, seems foolish to you. But after repeated complaints about problems with the communication systems becoming unusable during games (playing Patriots Radio Coverage or being filled with static), or rumors that they were "hacked" and opposing teams (*cough* Pats *cough*) were listening in, the NFL invested Big Bucks in upgrades. Remember the last time we heard one of those complaints about Patriots Radio Broadcast over the HC headset or the like? Neither do I. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/14/nfl-in-game-communications-go-digital-finally/ https://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/200304/major-improvements-coming-for-nfl-sideline-communication That's because in 2016, the NFL adopted a new VOIP system: Now, I'm no security maven, but if you allow a portal by which someone outside the stadium operating on different equipment like a Zoom call can tap in, it seems to me that by definition, you allow a portal by which someone who shouldn't, can hack in. It's my understanding that during games, use of cell phones, non approved devices, and social media is banned from 90 minutes before the game until after post-game interviews have concluded. So the Browns DC and OC can't "phone a friend" either. Roger Goodell wasn't worried about other teams listening to his Zoom call in his basement; they already were, in fact they were expected to. @r00tabaga has previously made clear his beliefs that Covid restrictions of various kinds are "dumb", but the fact is that isolation to contain an infectious disease requires that you......isolate yourself. Not "isolate yourself, unless something Really Really Important is going on like an NFL Game I wanna coach (or I'm out of Doritos and Coke Zero). NFL coach's booths were not constructed with isolation from infectious disease in mind. Early on, crowded conditions allowed Covid spread in a coaches booths during a game. Limiting # of assistants in the booth, improving ventilation, and requiring masks have prevented recurrences, but that's without sticking a known infected coach or two up there. It wouldn't be fair to the other coaches.
  6. This came up for the Browns game in the playoff. I think there are NFL secure communications protocols that effectively disallow this. How? He's not allowed to travel with the team or to be in the stadium. Maybe. They'll have the old "us vs. the World" chip on their shoulder
  7. Groot has been fantastic in the run game. Every time I see a run play, it seems he's there. Cover1 did a video extolling how Poyer charged up from deep and stopped a run play for a modest gain short of the sticks. Poyer deserved props for his play which was high-energy and on the money. They didn't point it out, but Groot, pursuing from behind, was in on the tackle and just kind of pulled up so he wouldn't hurt Poyer. If Poyer hadn't been there, Groot would have made the play. Of course, you can tackle Edwards-Helaire or Johnson or even Ingram from behind - they're a "different beast" than Henry. McDermott said they don't have anyone to practice against who is like Henry, except that they're too valuable to the defense to put in that role, it would be like giving Justin Zimmer or Jerry Hughes the ball and saying "Hey, Tackle THIS, Sucka". Groot will get a hands and arm strength workout.
  8. This is going to be controversial, but I'm gonna go with Isaiah McKenzie. Hopefully the impact is for better, but "for worse" is not out of the question. Special teams had a huge impact in last year's Titans game. Special teams was been loudly problematic with the blocked punt in the Steelers game, and quietly problematic in two games including a turnover on a kickoff in the WFT game and a fumbled (but recovered) kickoff in the Texans game. There have also been lesser impacts like a couple of excellent returns nullified by penalties. Here's hoping for a great day out of our ST unit, with minimal punting by us, many uneventful punt returns/fair catches by us, and lots of kickoffs to Nashville.
  9. I don't see how you can say that "every season" bit. I think it's fair to restart on Kingsbury. His first season, they weren't great shakes over the first half of the season, either.
  10. Plus Chandler Jones also out with Covid..... And Here....We....Go.....
  11. We did hold King Henry to 57 yards (a season low) in that game last season. Our big problem was we hand no one to cover AJ Brown. Cam Lewis may become a good player and Josh Norman was a great player but they weren't up to the task in last year's "now" if that makes sense. Our bigger problem was inability to run the ball against Tennessee's DL to take the pressure off the middle of the field, with Josh unable to hit the deep ball and struggling in general to pass. 2 INTs didn't help. Our biggest problem was ST. Yes, Bojo delivered a perfect coffin-corner punt, but he also outkicked his coverage (or else it was a total ST fail) allowing a 40 yd return on a 57 yd punt and a Tenn drive starting on the Buff 30. Then you have an Andre Roberts fumble on another punt return, leading to a Tenn drive from the Buff 18. That and the two INTs are how you have a game where you outgain the other team 370 to 334 yds, convert 76% of your 3rd downs, have only 2 fewer first downs, have a 5 minute TOP advantage, and you lose in a 42-16 rout
  12. This could be a point. It may be closer to the front of his mind at times than we know. His son just had a court appearance and is now scheduled to face trial on felony DUI charges in April. https://arrowheadaddict.com/2021/09/17/britt-reid-what-is-next-drunk-driving-charges-april-trial-date-kc-chiefs/ Reid may have several things besides football on his mind: 1) Can his son work? if not....support of his son's family - married with 3 kids. 2) Ensuring rehab for his son and worry will he stay clean? 3) Legal defense criminal and unless a settlement is reached, most assuredly civil 4) Does he have any concern/involvement in funding the ongoing care and rehab for the injured child? https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/mother-of-child-injured-in-britt-reid-crash-voices-frustration-via-facebook 5) This is his second kid to have tragedy. It weighs on the minds of the people I know who have faced tragedy with their kids..."what could I have done differently as a parent?" Does it weigh on Reid's mind? It's mostly the tragedy of that little girl and her family, but it's Reid's family tragedy too.
  13. Along these lines, if we must talk nicknames, I feel there is an excellent suggestion here Or if you don't care for that, Micah Hyde has a suggestion: (my nose bleeds for Marcel L-J though. Traitor.)
  14. I thought it was a "put up job" where B Rob arranged ahead of time for several of the guys to say Diggs for "no" and Thielen for "yes".
  15. Maybe. But when Josh misses those deep throws long, everyone is "he needs to throw it where the WR can adjust for it" Then when he throws it where the WR can adjust for it, "he needs to lead him" It was a nasty weather night with wind picking up/variable at that point. Ex.Act.Ly.
  16. More from Vrabel here: https://www.tennesseetitans.com/news/behind-enemy-lines-a-quick-look-at-the-buffalo-bills-x2718 I like his "form 1040EZ" description of the Bills D "a wildcat that throws for 350 yards a game" LOL
  17. Well, yes, Indubitably. But a very poor quality one.
  18. Hurts might be a better player than he showed last night, if he had either an OL in front of him, or an OC who designed a short completion passing game to compensate for the week OL
  19. A couple weeks ago people were saying the opposite - who's in the NFC besides Tampa, the AFC is loaded Chiefs Ravens Browns Bills
  20. Dawson Knox keeps on keeping on like he has and the response there's gonna be "Zack who?"
  21. I know "there are no moral victories" in football, but I'm frankly amazed that Philly made it 28-22
  22. Agree, I think that was key. The other thing this video impressed on me is how much good coverage depends upon scheme and playcalling - the way Hyde took up the gap left by Kelce scraping off Tre from Hill, for example. I don't know why the lightbulb only just flashed on for me on D since I've been beating that drum on offense for years.
