The level of QB play in that game was somnolescent, to be sure I can't call Geno "Trash" - he wasn't fumbling and throwing picks all over the place like Peterman But I can't call him a functional NFL QB, either The thing is, after another game, Seattle should be able to put Geno back in his box and revert to Russ But Jameis Winston - Jameis Winston is New Orlean's actual starting QB Wrap your mind around that Seattle's defense has given up more than 450 yds in 4 games Winston could only muster 222 passing yards and 6.3 ypa against them

Looping back here......Hyde in fact got some Propers on the Pat McAfee show, with former LB AJ Hawk and Pat McAfee both calling that out as a baller play: https://billswire.usatoday.com/2021/10/23/watch-buffalo-bills-micah-hyde-got-praise-for-this-tackle/?itm_source=parsely-api Retired CB/Safety Will Blackmon also gave Hyde his Propers for that play: That's a Clinic on how to do an open field tackle on a best-of-the-best RB However, I got to point out that Rousseau got caught with his trousers down on that one. Just overpursued then took a bad angle.

The reemergence of Gabriel Davis??
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good question. He was listed on the Injury report on Friday as DNP with "Illness", but practiced in full on Sat. -

Zach Wilson knee injury [sprained PCL, miss 2-4 weeks]
Hapless Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The position of the QB on the field differs. Ed Oliver fell on Mahomes feet in the pocket, where that's not legal but a horsecollar tackle is The Pat hit Jones outside the pocket, where a horsecollar tackle is illegal, but slamming into the QB's lower legs just after he throws is not. Cam Newton? -
I'm like ..."OK" 🤷♂️

The reemergence of Gabriel Davis??

1 offensive snap vs Tenn, 7 vs KC. More vs. Hou and WFT but I think that was 4Q "play the backups" I specify offensive snaps because I know you don't do this, but others confuse "not playing on offense" with "not playing". Kumerow plays on ST - a lot. It's not his thing, though I have seen him flush a good DL completely out of a run play on film - not as an inline blocker though, which makes a difference. I knew what you meant, but I don't believe I've seen him there. I could be wrong. Nothing to forgive, it's just if you could point to a game/series/article about it I'd go look, because I have a soft spot for the guy. -
The reemergence of Gabriel Davis??
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think that's the point that was trying to be made. Josh and the coaches have several times called out "blocking" as one of the biggest improvements Knox has made. Josh gave him props as "in my opinion, one of the best blocking TE in the league". The Bills are using about 15% 4 and 5 WR sets this season, and part of the reason for that is increasing use of Knox in the passing game (part of that is increased run game snaps) Overall, Knox is seeing the field on about 20% more snaps - from almost 60% of the snaps, to almost 80% of the snaps. Using him as a WR and downfield blocker (for which Gabe Davis or Kumerow could substitute) is only part of that increase. Using him as an inline blocker or a blocker in the backfield since we've moved on from Lee Smith (for which Davis or Kumerow can't substitute) is also part of it. We aren't going to see Davis fill in for that. We'll see some combination of Sweeney, Gilliam, or an extra OLman (Bates or Boettger) -

Really? When? He's blocked in the backfield at times - he's good. He's blocked downfield. But I haven't seen Kumerow used as an inline blocker (meaning, in line with the 5 OLmen) like, Ever. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I haven't seen it, so if you could point me to the games/plays where you did, I'd be obliged. -
Florio's point is that the Personal Conduct Policy is a PR tool for the league and has nothing to do with legalities (and bear in mind that Florio is a former litigator and understands US law and legalities). Rapoport may be correct as of 11:40 am today, and wrong as of 11 am Sunday - BECAUSE the PCP and the Exempt list are PR tools for the league, and will be used in accord with "how the frog jumps". This has been shown Over. and Over. and Over. under Goodell. You do recognize that is not my argument, and that I am acknowledging the credible reporting? Or are you bending your own self into such a pretzel that those "minor points" elude you?
-
Dude, I respect you a lot, but this line of argument is really disappointing me. It's analogous to saying Chris Brown isn't wrong on one of his takes because he's the Bills main internal reporter and works in the same building as the people who make these decisions. Highly fallacious line of reasoning. Rapaport may be correct, but if he is, it's not because of the building he works in. The point also remains, that he may be right *as of now* and yet wrong, depending on what ***** gets stirred with a trade and a decision to make Watson active.

Zach Wilson knee injury [sprained PCL, miss 2-4 weeks]
Hapless Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was the best thing for Josh to sit while two vet QBs entered the building and he learned the ropes of how to prepare himself each week as a player as well as learning what he didn't know (and needed to know). I'm not sure Zach Wilson has anyone comparable in the building. -
I still think Florio nailed it in the excerpt I transcribed above: "We Don't Know". "Not on the list" may legitimately be what the NFL feels today. But we all have to bear in mind that the Commissioner's Exempt List and Personal Conduct Policy are at heart, PR tools for the league. In the past, their use has NOT been limited to players charged with crimes at all, much less felonies. If Watson is traded and active and there's a big public stink raised along the lines of what Rosenthal tweeted, the trade partner team better believe that Watson will go on the "Exempt List" so quick it will make their heads spin - unless he's just suspended.

Privacy for Josh Allen and Bills' players
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
The problem with privacy for a star athlete is analogous to the problem of a donut plate for a dieter. As one food researcher pointed out, "if you're focused and working 90-95% of the time, you can be productive and successful. If you refrain from eating excess calories like donuts 90-95% of the time, you can easily blow your diet." If 90-95% of the fans who see a star dining at a restaurant for 2 hrs are respectful and leave him alone, he can still have his outing pretty well interrupted. You raise a great point about how "brand" is a double-edged sword for pro athletes. They may cultivate it when it brings them endorsements or allows them to do things important to them (like support their HS, or support a charity), but then find it uncomfortable when it "goes too far" like people stopping outside their house half a dozen times a day. The good news as someone else pointed out, is that Josh has the money to put whatever size of bubble he wants around himself. He just has to come to terms with 1) his new need to do so 2) the various ways to do so. He would have had to do that last year, except that the whole Covid restrictions thing probably muted it. -

AND they won! -
That shovel pass..... I think there is "confirmation bias" at play - Collinsworth, like others, has his POV and more readily sees (and comments on) events that confirm it. I also believe there is a pre-determined "media narrative" about the game and what the announcers say at times is part of the script they are given for the game. Sometimes I think they say ridiculous stuff they seem uncomfortable saying because it's part of the script

Will lack of Tough Games hurt the Bills?
Hapless Bills Fan replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is KC playing badly, or did the Bills and Titans just give them the "statement game" treatment? They lost two close games (to the Chargers and Ravens) beforehand. I think the Bills have enough games against quality teams to test them and help them develop. -
Taylor Heinicke TD Ruled No TD! Why?
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall
So thanks for posting the video. The one thing I'll say is perspective - from this still I pulled, it appears that he is dropping his knee parallel to the goal line vs. diving in Since the latter would put him in the path of the oncoming Packer and he chooses to drop a knee and go more parallel, that may be why the perspective of the ref on the goal line was that he "gave himself up" -

That first hit is brutal, but why did he stop to get hit instead of running OOB? I'm unfamiliar with PCL injuries - assuming it doesn't need surgery, what's the timeline? -
The reemergence of Gabriel Davis??
Hapless Bills Fan replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Knox has been taking 80% of the offensive snaps to block in the backfield or run block. Gabe can block downfield decently but not in the backfield. So no, Davis is not interchangeable for Knox, and we're likely to see more of Sweeney or Gilliam
