  1. ? Forbes estimated that the NFL would lose 38% of its total revenues if 2020 were played entirely without fans. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeozanian/2020/05/18/the-stadium-revenue-each-nfl-team-will-lose-if-games-are-played-without-fans/ As it was, with some stadia full and others limited or empty, NFL revenues dropped by 4 billion dollars, or about 25% That's a pretty large drop out of the bucket
  2. And to that point...the reason the Bills secondary and LB all "love to hate" him is that he doesn't care who you are. If you screw up and let him by you, he'll tell (and tell you, and tell you) about it.
  3. Don't look here: https://www.buffalobills.com/news/why-tommy-sweeney-is-ready-take-advantage-of-his-opportunity-in-the-spotlight Or here: https://footballabsurdity.com/2021/10/29/2021-fantasy-football-week-8-sleeper-tight-ends-sweeney-tom-the-demon-te-of-orchard-park/ We need some serious research into the back-story behind that photo. Is that just a photoshop? I know that's not Josh's Halloween costume (Damn, sometimes I miss those social media accounts)
  4. Unfortunately that is insufficient to allow a score It is also necessary that his teammates refrain from committing holding or block in back penalties, such that the score counts.
  5. ? 3rd down stop at Tenn 5, FG 3rd down stop at Tenn 10, FG 3rd down stop at Tenn 34, FG 3rd and 6 at the Tenn 8, 4 and 1 at the Tenn 3, TOD Looks as though they stopped him enough when it counted Course the real problem was our defense couldn't stop the Titans
  6. There was one specific play that the Bills D had no answer for and the Iggles ran it Over. and Over. and Over. and Over again. I don't know about some of that, but I have wondered if the fact that Daboll coached Tua in college has anything to do with the Bills defensive results. Just like Tennessee got the inside scoop on all of Allen's tendencies from Barkley, I'm sure.
  7. He has literally less football experience than Dawson Knox did coming into the NFL. But yeah, he's got off-the-charts athleticism. He was the epitome of "Looks like Tarzan, Plays like Jane" with Houston He didn't impress either the Colts or NE during his 3-4 day "cup o' coffee" there. To be fair, he had some tough breaks with injuries in his 2 years with the Texans and I think it's fair at this point to question what their player development was like overall. But 7 targets and 3 receptions for 35 yds and some ST snaps is not a lot of production for 2 years of a 3rd round pick. 7th Round Sweeney had 8 receptions on 13 targets for 114 yds in 2019. He doesn't play teams, though, which Warring did with Hou.
  8. I don't know. He might be. But the Bills have elevated practice squad guys before, then made them inactive. If they're replacing a guy who is injured during warmups or who becomes ill overnight, they can't do a call-up from the PS at that point except in very limited circs.
  9. I think you might have a different nickname story and be mixing up the Notre Dame scholarship story with the original nickname story. McKenzie's original story said when he was trying to make the Bills team in 2019 in training camp, he was too tired to shower right after morning practice and weights. He'd just take a nap and then go to the meetings and shower later. Quinton Spain ragged him about it and he replied he was just a little guy trying to make the team, he was worn out and needed to sleep. So Spain started calling him "Lil Dirty" and the nickname stuck. Apparently he still doesn't shower after practice, he waits until he gets home. Must ensure he gets his "space" in the meetings....
  10. Diggs was also quoted saying "I am never gonna eat there" about La Traila, McKenzie's BBQ restaurant. I think McKenzie is probably trash talking him constantly. But I do wonder if it costs McKenzie a bit, if he gets the same mentoring and help from Diggs and Beasley as guys like Davis who are competitive, but more respectful and less "mouthy" McDermott was quoted after his punt-catching session saying "there are some guys that build you up...and then there's this guy"
  11. We don't know. The thinking is fell onto it
  12. I think that's the advantage of the internal fixation (surgery to hold bones in place with hardware): once the swelling is down, the hand can be used normally to maintain dexterity and flexibility as a cast/splint is not needed to keep the bone aligned. Decent artist! as Sweeney says "Somebody paid attention in Arts and Crafts" But being able to hold a paintbrush vs. able to catch a Josh Allen pass smacking into his hands at 50 mph or able to smack into a charging LB, different matter.
  13. Poyer: "I don't think he showers after practice" Hyde: "they're making us say something nice?" Poyer: "He don't shower after practice" Hyde: "that's not nice though" Poyer: (looks pained) "He's funny..kind of" Hyde: (looks puzzled, shakes his head slowly, walks away) Josh Thomas: "I got nothing" Bates: "My mom always told me, you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all" Gilliam: "Yeah, I'm gonna go with that" Brandin Bryant: "He's a real sweet guy" (sounds sarcastic) Ed Oliver: "Stinky" Lotulelei: "His restaurant's good" Singletary: "His breath not that stinky today" Matakevich: "He talks too damn much" Andre Smith: "I would say this morning...his breath didn't stink AS bad" Wildgoose: "As bad...it was all right" [Beasley and Knox mug for the cameras in the background] Addison: : "You all wonder what we want to say about him...He talks, he really talks" Dodson: "I ain't gonna say nothin' " Love: "He got a cool nickname...Lil Dirty" Breida: "He don't take showers" Taiwan Jones: "Dirty little boy...Dirty little boy" Harrison Phillips: "Underneath the surface, he's a good dude" Siran Neal: "Nice..................(inspired by poster) He went to college!" Sweeney: "He's Tall" Dodson (reenters the chat) "He DID buy a bar of soap the other day" (player I can't identify): (says something I can't make out) AJ Epenesa: "Isaiah? You're all right, you know that?" Trubisky: (I think) "you coming up with results?" (or maybe business) Quinton Morris: "Isaiah McKenzie's Fun Sized" Dane Jackson: (shakes his head) "I don't know" Tre White: "You got me" Josh Allen: (deadpan) "Something Nice About Isaiah McKenzie" *grins* Isaiah McKenzie: "I don't even know what to say.........Looking at these pictures, I AM sexy!"
  14. This probably deserves its own thread. And on that note....
  15. He does not look like a happy boy. And on a functional organization, I would think by the point he has time to put on a team sweatshirt and sits for a presser, the coaches should have had time to talk to him and tell him what they have in mind.
  16. I'm sure the players get hate mail, death threats, threats to their family. Hell, we've occasionally gotten some of that here, not to mention just plain old vulgarity. On a message board fer cripes sake. Social media is a double-edged sword for the players because some of them want to use it to "influence" (for $$) or to "build their brand". So if you're open to that, you somewhat gotta take the bitter with the better. Somewhat. The stars, like Allen, can pretty much 100% turn their SM over to their PR team and post very rarely. Their brand is built by their play and a few IRL fan interactions. The solid players gotta engage more with fans and build a following to develop a brand. The thing is, all of these guys earn enough to employ PR teams to screen their social media, delete the nastygrams, and block people with viewpoints they don't want to hear (and the players themselves probably get twitchy on the block key). So there's really no need for the players to have to ignore viciousness - they can set it up to "bubble" themselves from it if they wish. Me, I said I wouldn't interact on SM and when I found myself doing it for a 3rd time I promptly deleted all my accounts, which is the nuclear option but for guys who can't help getting sucked into it, it works. Bills "players" or one "Bills player", who subsequently deleted his account?
  17. I think it's calling the Babes and Brother Bill fat, and dissing on Brother Bill (what was his award and what was it for? his part took days to film...) It was pretty lame, since the ad said "Award Winning Barber" (thus answering the question "what was it for?") and while Pinto Ron was filmed in one locale setting up his Gameday rig, Brother Bill appeared to be filmed in several locales (requiring all the filming stuff to be moved to different locations and unpacked/set up/tested) But I don't see anything particularly disgusting or nasty by Twitter standards, it just comes across as "AllYouKidsGetOffaMyLawn" crabby to me.
  18. So here's the video version off Youtube, including the visuals on the film. Here's my comment on Chris Simms comments: 1) is he wrong that Mahomes is taking deep drops instead of stepping up in the pocket, and that the deep drops make it harder on his OTs to block? No, of course he's not wrong. But here's the thing- and maybe @Zerovoltz or someone will correct me if I'm wrong - it seems to me that Mahomes has always taken deep drops, 10 or 15 yd drops, and actually that was an aspect of his game that was PRAISED and to which much of his success at deep throws to Hill was attributed. IMHO, the difference is that Eric Fisher adapted to the drops Mahomes likes to take and blocked accordingly, while Orlando Brown Jr is taking the correct blocking angle as though his QB will step up (which I believe is Lamar Jackson's pattern - he doesn't take those deep drops, if he needs to run, he wants to be positioned to squirt out and make yards). How's Fisher doing, BTW, coming back from that Achilles? Started every game for the Colts so far? 2) Not taking "gimmee" throws to open WR Andy Reid said it last season: "Everyone needs a Guy, and Kelce is Pat's Guy". Basically 30% of Mahomes passing yards were from Kelce last season, with 27% to Hill. Kelce has been Mahomes security blanket, the guy he looks to when they need a 3rd down. And teams have clued to that, and they're working harder to bracket Kelce and take him away. He's still getting open...but by the time he's open, Mahomes is on the move and off platform and the throw is off. And while Mahomes does look for Hill, he has always had some of the same tendency as Josh in that he doesn't want to take the checkdown. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Mahomes style of play has always been to extend, extend, and wait for a guy to get open downfield (or to wait for Kelce) 3) About that off-platform thing - Simms implied that he may have some information that something is physically wrong with Mahomes foot. But there again - in the past, Mahomes could do all that off-balance, off platform stuff and it worked like magic. So basically, some of the same styles of play that Mahomes used successfully in previous seasons - the deep drop, the aggressive long-to-short reads, extending the play, the reliance on "his guy" Kelce, the off-platform any-angle throws - the things that in a guy who wasn't magic from his first starts in his 2nd season, would be criticized as poor QB play - are now biting him. Can much of this be fixed, sure! But it depends upon the coaches and Mahomes doing a "mind meld" about what's wrong and how to fix it. I don't think it's play design per se, but they can't have a LT taking angles to block for a guy in the pocket while Mahomes is 15 yds back. They can't have Hill wide open in the flats if Mahomes isn't going to turn, look, hit him. etc etc.
  19. The Bills practice photos for the week show 5 Warring to 3 Sweeney. A Sign? (ps 😛)
  20. That's kind of where I am if Boettger isn't comfortable at RG. I will say I looked at the depth chart and saw where PFFffft is coming from Doyle is listed as the backup to Williams. But I suspect that's a PR effort to put the 53 man roster into depth chart slots more than an actual statement of how the Bills adjust to injuries. For example, if (avert!) Sanders were to be injured, we might see more Gabe Davis but also more Beasley and more McKenzie. If (Avert) Diggs were to be injured, I suspect we'd see more Davis rather than Kumerow. But that's just a guess. We'll see tomorrow
  21. Absolutely not! News flash, the road to championships is paved with good QBs. We need to be able to score more points than the teams they're on.
  22. The KC fan base was largely loyal and supportive through years of bad or "meh" or "good enough to lose the big ones". They never had a Buffalo-size drought but from the late 90s (end of Schottenheimer) to 2014 when Reid took over they had a long stretch of mediocre to bad seasons punctuated by 4 winning seasons. So their fans do know what fan suffering is. He's not wrong now - success brings out the manic fan - but It Is What It Is. Take the good with the bad - enjoy having 70,000 screaming tomahawk chanting maniacs when you win, expect them to be Salty when you lose. Josh Allen expressed it very well, something like "you win, you're on the top of the world; you lose, fire everyone and rebuild the thing. Players need to keep a sense of perspective. IMHO part of the Chiefs problem is that their players, as well as their fan base, grew entitled with the winning years. That's why it's so hard to sustain success in the NFL: when you're winning it's harder to keep that "growth mindset" that looks for things which need fixing, either as a fan or as a player
