  1. C'mon c'mon you know the drill. Boogie and Phillips do not fill the same roles. Boogie is a DE who can roll inside to DL a bit. Phillips is strictly a 1TDT Zim on injury report all week with foot. Practiced "Full" Friday, presumably they evaluated how he was Sat and decided he needed a rest. Yes, but someone up thread said Ford would be inactive today. This was before the list came out and evidently he was misinformed or just guessing
  2. Zimmer is probably their fastest DLman. He's the one that almost caught up to Tyreek Hill last year in the AFCCG.
  3. I should know better than to think I could beat YOLO to the punch, even when I literally see something 2 seconds after it's come out 3 different DL inactive - Obada, Basham, and Zimmer, what's that mean? Zimmer probably expected, let his foot heal Ford active, sorry guys!
  4. LOL Marcel L-J made it into his lineup of "turncoat Bills" that got Tuna'd
  5. I would be hella disappointed. As McDermott has said, the "Underdog Mentality" can take you a long way, but eventually a championship-caliber team has to learn how to win when they're the favorites He's on the depth chart as the backup RT, but I think that's more-or-less an exercise in putting everyone on the 53 man roster into a slot and/or a certain degree of uncertainty how the Bills would handle this. I'm pretty sure Williams is the 2nd best RT on the team at this point (and it's not close), so we see Williams slide back over to RT. Then the question is do we see Boettger step in at RG or LG while Feliciano handles whichever is the other side? Or do we see Ford get another shot at RG? I'm sure the Bills know but they aren't telling. Maybe a reporter will tweet watching warmups.
  6. https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2021/10/who-is-kahale-warring-bills-elevate-te-for-dolphins-matchup-6-things-to-know.html Question: how common is it that a HS football player entering a college program wouldn't know that terminology? (I had the impression overall that he was just really really raw at football, almost an "International Pathways Program" raw Could just be me, but "try to put himself in a position to start learning how we do things" (from Daboll this week) doesn't sound like a guy Daboll plans to feature too much (cue "4D Chess" "Smokescreen"). "Good hands" is promising though.
  7. "Just Win, Baby". Flores and the Dolphins are a wounded bear. I expect this to be "playoff football" to them, where they pull out all the stops to win. Just like the Bills at Vikings 2018, if we take them for granted, we can get our asses whupped. I expect Diggs and the other vets are reminding the younger players of that - "nothing is given, everything is earned, get your head in the game and GRIND"
  8. I'm pretty sure the deadline for that was the same as the deadline for elevating PS players, 4 pm today But I'm not certain of that - maybe they can IR Knox right up until game time I don't think they will, from the shots of him at practice Weds manipulating a football with his R hand, I think they believe he's at the earlier side of the 3-4 week timeline, which would mean miss this week, maybe next week, back after that. Being a bit more serious, found this Knox review from cover1
  9. I'm just hoping that after tomorrow, "Sweeney Tom, the Demon TE of Orchard Park" seems like an apt tag
  10. This. Big Dogs beat the division. Take care of Bizness. Keeping focused for games like this is the very reason McDermott tries to have vet leadership in every room - to keep beating the drum with the message "keep pushing, prepare hard, don't take it for granted because we need every game to get to our goal."
  11. Quoting him more precisely, Garafolo says "I know Sean McDermott and his staff are kind of nervous" because there's "really not a lot of upside" to these games
  12. It would make my day if we could show we can run when we need or execute screen passes against a solid run defense. And while I agree Miami's run D has looked solid the last several weeks, would you agree that neither the Jags nor Atlanta have a strong rushing attack?
  13. Speaking of Marcel....he's on the Cover1 podcast talking about the upcoming Dolphins matchup Lots of good stuff in there, starting about 9:15 in Starts out talking about how last season, the Dolphins had the prototypical "bend don't break" defense: give up lots of yards, but get off the field on 3rd down, don't allow TDs in the red zone, and get takeaways. This season they're next to last in scoring offense, 29th in RZ TDs, next to last in 3rd down conversion, and not getting that many takeaways. He says QB is not the problem on the team, and in fact Tua is not the problem on the team. "Deshaun Watson ain't fixin' this team, man, it's that defense and then this offensive line". Says all the folks that he talks to every day (beat reporters in Mia, it's inferred) say the same thing. Points out that Miami has put 4 top-90 picks on OL in the last 3 years and they're still dead last in pass rush win rate. Allowing 8th or 9th highest sacks while seeing 12th fewest blitzes in the NFL. Says 90% of the Deshaun Watson stuff they are hearing is coming from Houston, "they are as desperate as they've ever been to get rid of him", but "starting at the top, they've got a GM who will not back down on his trade demand". Says Flores brushes it off "Tua's our QB" and then Tua goes out to talk to the media and gets grilled for 15 minutes about it, it's not a fair situation and he's starting to look tired. Says there's stuff (LaCanfora) about how Flores has lost the locker room and the Patriots way only works in NE. "It's a 6 game losing streak and there aren't a lot of things to focus on but this big black cloud." Says once the trade deadline passes there's going to be a wave of relief throughout "everybody down here - players, coaches, media" Quinn asks him about the secondary - Miami is #1 in "explosive plays given up" on defenses. Says he's talked to players who say they watch film and see it's not bad coverage, they're not "winning at the point of attack" with the pass breakups or deflections, but Marcel L-J says he thinks it's sometimes mental lapses and bad coverage, and sometimes tough coaching decisions (they played the sidelines and left the middle of the field to Shenault against the Jags). Asked about DL, they have talent and are playing really well, but the secondary is so bad that the pass rush doesn't matter. They are playing the run well (#4 in run-stop win rate). Defense is pass rush + secondary and right now they just have pass rush; until the secondary starts "playing up to their paycheck" they'll have problems. On offense, says Mina Kimes used to take heat from the fans when she'd criticize the OL but when he got there he saw everything she said is true, it's hard to overstate how bad their OL is. Says Tua has played really well the last 2 games and is showing signs of mental toughness (my phrase) - said after an INT, the next drive he hasn't thrown an incompletion and has scored, so he can really get "locked in". Playing with a skeloton crew on WR without Davante Parker and Will Fuller, it's all Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesieki. Says he's hoping to see Tua continue his level of play with good decisions and to be aggressive, take care of the football against a better defense. There's more but it's an hour long and I've heard what I wanted to hear.
  14. Correct, does burn one of their two "free callups" (where the player don't need to clear waivers after the game to go back on PS) Agree, for the most part when the Bills bring up a guy from the PS he is active It turns out to be surprisingly hard to find this info. Jordan Devey (OL) was one last season - they wanted to be certain they had enough OLmen to get the extra roster spots I think pretty sure there was another OL they did this with Davis Webb was another though you could argue he was a special case, the Bills wanted to give him a $30k "Thank You" Duke Williams was elevated 2x last season, played in one game, inactive the other I think I'm not following the last question The Bills have gone with just Knox and Gilliam as the only TE active on game day this season, with Sweeney a healthy scratch So I think it's possible they might go with just Sweeney and Gilliam, count on Bates as an extra blocker and on the downfield blocking of Davis and Kumerow But I don't know, and they could easily decide to dress Knox, Gilliam, and Warring
  15. I think he can get elevated and go immediately back on the PS without clearing waivers, without the Bills needing to clear a spot on the 53 for him. In which case, GB or anyone else can make him an offer If we want to preclude that, we need to keep him on the 53 and....cut someone, or trade them
  16. I mean, even granted that's true (and from what I've seen, it is), those may represent a "lowest common denominator" of fans Matthieu probably wouldn't think it was justified if fans pointed at some bad-behaving football players and generalized to all.
  17. Please be nicer to my sarcasm detector. I've had about 10 of the damn things bust on me already, and we're only going into Week 8.
  18. I don't know about "someone else" but the only comment I saw from Feliciano was about being angry himself if fans were shouting at his car with his kids in it. Which was not a general attack on fans, just Truth (IMO) about how most of us would feel if folks with a beef at Dad expose their kids to it. Nasty and inappropriate (IMO).
