  1. I would go for Brandon Scherff, OG from the WFT. 1) some connections between McDermott/Beane/Rivera to help grease the wheels 2) WFT 2-6 and would be trading across conferences, so there's that 3) WFT could use draft picks or maybe a combination of a pick and a defensive lineman. WFT seems to have a bit of a culture problem where their top picks under-produce, so maybe they would be interested in a "culture change" player like Butler or Obada? 4) Scherff is coming back from knee injury, so they've been playing without him (but then again, 4 straight losses with him out so maybe they figure he's a difference maker to their OL play) I don't think any RB is going to contribute much until/unless we fix our OL play Some of these suggestions are "SMH" quality
  2. They can call, but unless they offer us a premium OG I think Beane says "Thanks, We're Good"
  3. Look at the block on Byron Jones (24) that springs Allen to get the 1st down. That's 6'1" 194 lb Jones being walled away from the tackle by 5'8", 173 lb (maybe-dripping wet with cleats on) Isaiah McKenzie
  4. The thing is, all the time refs call fouls they didn't actually see because they see something that appears to be the likely result of a foul. I'm not a "conspiracy theorist" but my bottom line is that I want the ref'ing to be consistent, and I feel the last 2 games have not been that thing.
  5. Not to mention the hands to the face/holding on Groot (I thought it was Hughes, it was Groot)
  6. Some nice film clips here Note that for all the bashing our OL takes, I can count up to "3 Mississippi" on all 4 of these throws
  7. Yes. I think it's safe to summarize our OL moves as "Not Enough"
  8. Slight correction. He *was* a huge upgrade over what we have starting at guard, but that was in 2019. What is he now? As for the Ravens targeting him, that seems to be speculation: https://ebonybird.com/2021/10/30/ravens-lael-collins-trade-target/
  9. Yes. Report is that Denver keeps $9M of Miller's $9.7M salary They're fundamentally renting him for 9 games for a #2 and #3 draft pick and $700k
  10. The other team has to be motivated to make that trade. The Cowboys are 6-1 and leading the NFC East, and believe they are contenders -What does Butler give the Cowboys right now, that they need? -Depth is critical on OL. Right now, Collins is good depth for the 'Boys From the Bills POV: -Vernon Butler played about half the snaps the first 3 games, then sat for 3 games before injury to Zimmer put him back in the lineup. So we might spare him, but see above (Depth is critical on DL too) -La'el Collins has just returned from a 5 game substance abuse suspension. Sometimes when a player turns to banned stuff, it's because they feel they need them. Collins missed all of 2020 with injury. So who are we getting? Fans are all in proposing trades right and left (see what I did?) but they're rare because there's more to them. Your proposal is actually more reasonable than most - Collins is not starting right now and has some ?, and Dallas is in another conference. I LOL at all the posts suggesting division or conference rivals (with young hoped-for Franchise Guys to protect at QB) will trade us starting OLmen for a bag of chips and a hot dog.
  11. The first part of my post you quoted was to a guy seeming to sarcastically imply that people aren't allowed to discuss the Bills faults and problems here. I look around and I see a lot of that, thus my confusion. To your point about McKenzie, my point is the same as the response you quoted. You want to throw McKenzie in the trash and see Who? take on the PR/KR duties? Everyone's all about the "New Shiny", but before Stevenson went on IR, McKenzie was winning the PR/KR job based on fewer muffs and fumbles than Stevenson or Breida. It's like the calls to improve our interior OL - Great! I'm all for it! Where's the improvement gonna come from mid-season?
  12. If he's "always injured" how has he managed to only miss 1 game in the previous 6 seasons?
  13. 2nd and a 3rd AND $9M of his salary? Whoaoa
  14. A 2nd and a 3rd to take on $17.5M salary for a 32 yr old guy who is a very good player, but no longer the force he once was? Rams are going "all in" for this season. Good Luck with That.
  15. Miller's salary is $17.5M which is what the Rams take on. He's a FA after this year. So unless there's a handshake deal to sign a new contract, it's a 1 year rental. Guess is that the deal comes with some agreement to sign a new contract that has lower salary this season and several years amortized bonus
  16. Breida legit looked promising with the 49ers. Don't know what happened. Agree with the folks who say it's primarily not our RBs that are the problem, it's our OL. Best RB in the world only a threat if you can get them out to the 2nd level. The idea with Breida was that he had the speed to get to the outside where the OL blocking not so much an issue. That didn't pan out vs Pittsburgh, so the Breida experiment was curtailed. *blink* *blink*
  17. It seems not uncommon that a smart backup with "enough" talent can step in and play well for some time - Gardner Minshew, Kyle Allen, Taylor Heineke - then the league gets film on them and the better DCs figure out how to confuse and attack them, and they "regress"
  18. This. The Bills were ahead by 9 points before the TD, thanks to the Dolphins successful 2 point conversion. The Fins had already shown the willingness and ability to throw a 40 yd pass on 4th and 6. The officiating was awful in that game. Broken coverage (or uncalled holding or hands to the face) that allows a TD on kickoff after the score, an onside kick, and a FG and we lose. If anything, it's more a sign of respect, saying "you're dangerous enough that we feel the need to put a stake in your heart here" I'm not thrilled with the 2 point conversion. The only thing I can think is they wanted to practice a play, but it put Allen's body at risk for what? That's where I would have said kneel it.
  19. Seems like a good time to refresh our memories of these immortal words from Marshawn Lynch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4ismf_hp6Y Take care of y'all Bodies, take care of y'all Chicken, take care of y'all Mentals I had a couple players I played with they no longer here no more, they no longer (acknowledgement gesture with hat)..... Start taking care of y'all Mentals, y'all Bodies, and y'all Chicken, then when y'all ready to walk away, you walk away and you be able to do what you want to do.
  20. So if you're talking about MVP mentions, you must be talking about 2017 and 2018. Gurley missed 1 game in 2017 (against the 6-10 49'ers) and 2 in 2018 (against the 3-13 Cardinals and 4-12 49ers). Both teams had bottom-of the-league run D. Not sure that's a comparable situation to the Titans, but it's also important to note that in those 3 games, the Rams passing yards plummeted. The reason being, opponents said "OK, life is different now, we're going to choke off your passing game and dare you to beat us running Brown" - which, the Rams were able to do in those circs and win 2 of those 3 games. But, if they'd been playing teams with solid fundamental run D, might not have worked.
  21. More to do with the specifics on location of the fracture and on how that person's body recovers/how well they follow their rehab plan. Watkins, for example, later acknowledged his problems healing stemmed from him not following the rehab program laid out for him (taking his walking boot off etc). Henry will follow his rehab plan and he must heal well to take the workload he does week after week. So then it depends on the specifics of the location.
