  1. You're welcome to produce them! If something tells you "the stats show the Pats have an advantage" over the last 6 games vs. the last 6 games for the Bills and that the beginning of the season doesn't count because *reasons*, knock yourself out! A lot of things happen in a season. Injuries impact all teams and their opponents, at different times. For example, Bills fans would point out that we've been playing without our best RT for 4 of the last 5 weeks and our starting LG for the last 4 weeks, which on the Bills lineup means we were down to 3rd string at RG. We played without our starting MLB week 10 and 11 and without our starting DT (and best run stopper) the last 3 weeks. Missing both may have had an influence on the outcome of week 11 against the Colts. Losing Tre Day for the season will be a factor. I'm not gonna "cherry pick" for the Bills either, and say "let's look at our stats only while these guys were playing, something tells me......" But I think it's a very interesting position for a Bills fan to take
  2. Thanks. It looks like it wasn't just Brown, though, but a bunch of backups playing ~week 3 to 6 or so? Seems like they got the line back after the Cowboys game Since the Bucs, though, it doesn't seem like the Pats have played a team that is very strong on "affect the QB" The best has been the Titans, who were excellent with pressure earlier in the season - but they seemed pretty banged up on defense as well as offense in Week 12. (Missing Dupree, Evans, Long - basically a lot of guys who were starting when they met the Bills)
  3. Harsh. He was told to be ready to start "immediately". Daniel Jones has already been ruled out for this Sunday, although as of now the Giants are not putting him on IR That means the Giants are starting ......Mike Glennon https://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/daniel-jones-out-dolphins-giants-injury-report-1.50441143
  4. In the last 3 games, the OL has been Wynn, Karras, Andrews, Mason, Trent Brown, and that's who the Patriots have listed as starters on their depth chart. I believe Onwenu had replaced Brown at RT for the Jets, Chargers, and Panthers games. Prior to that (games 3 through 6) the Pats were playing several substitutes on OL and I think, guys out of position. I dunno about pressure on Jones, but he threw more picks in that stretch (2 or 3 per game) and, NE had 49 rush yards against the Saints and -1 (no typo) against the Bucs. Evidently the OL impacts the QB's play and the run game, Who Knew? I'm not sure the starters at the beginning of the season are the guys that are now starters (just as the Bills starting OL changed) Perhaps one of our resident Pats fans such as @PatsFanNH or @Ghost_002! could comment on the Pats OL situation. According to pro football reference, the Pats run play action on 26% of their passing attempts. They rush on almost half (46%) of their offensive plays, which helps set that up. Play action, a heavy dose of rushing plays, and a short passing game designed to get the ball out of Jones hands quickly help to minimize pressure on him. Same source, Jones is blitzed on 1/3 of his pass attempts (33%) but only hurried on 19.3% of them. Jones gets the ball out very quickly - 8th in the league at 2.3 sec and different from 4th by the hundredths place. I think that's by the design of their game. Jones gets almost half his passing yards as YAC - the Pats average 5.6 air yards per completion and 5.5 YAC. The Pats pass 77% of the time from the Shotgun, and 29% of the time from under Center, which are fairly big disparities.
  5. Link to McD's presser.   today. The Q/A I haven't seen covered in Media tweets was: Katharine (Buff News reporter): "What have you seen out of Isaiah and Marquez in the return game this week, and is this something you want to solidify or will it be week to week for a bit?" McDermott: "Yeah, We'll see. I'm gonna keep my options open as far as that goes, I have confidence in both of those young men and anxious to continue to watch them grow" That doesn't sound like "Benched for the Season" to me
  6. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/12/a-star-returns-bills-dt-lotulelei-could-be-key-to-stopping-patriots-rushing-attack.html Gee, ya Think? I sincerely think that would be a mistake. The plan has often been to keep an extra DLman active, or to keep Gillislee active for special teams. Especially if Gilislee is hindered, I don't think it would be too much to have 3 RB active. The Bills were hurting against Pittsburgh when they didn't have Moss available (IMO)
  7. https://www.rochesterfirst.com/sports/buffalo-bills/lotulelei-and-brown-in-uncharted-territory-after-returning-to-practice/ Maybe as he gets older, Dawkins just needs to focus a bit more on taking care of his body and on his recovery https://www.rochesterfirst.com/sports/buffalo-bills/jackson-not-expected-to-be-tre-white-taking-over-for-bills-all-pro-corner/
  8. We have 2 on the season (1 each by Beas and by Knox). Beas failed, Knox was a 2 pt conversion attempt. Patriots have 3 (2 by Jacobi Meyers and 1 by Kendrick Bourne) I wouldn't be a big fan of these for us if the wx is bad. Let the guy with the big hands and the cannon on his shoulder throw the ball.
  9. This is the Bills Friday injury report We'll see what shows up on Saturday's injury report but from McDermott's interview, sounds like no one will be "Out" Sounds like Milano will be "Full", Diggs will be "DNP" -vet rest, and Hughes will be "DNP - vet rest"
  10. I think #4 and #11 are both retired on the Giants. I know #11 was Phil Sims.... https://www.bigblueinteractive.com/information-pages/new-york-giants-retired-jersey-numbers/ Yep, both #4 and #11 retired so...
  11. This is exactly correct. On offense, Bills actually are 6th in the league at rush YPA with 4.6 YPA and Pats 20th in the league with 4.1 YPA. On defense, Bills are 1st in the league at 3.9 rush YPA given up, and Pats are 23rd in the league with 4.5 rush YPA given up. There is also some airplay to how great the Pats are on taking away the ball, and how bad the Bills are at giving it away. But on a total basis, it's actually one freakin' turnover different, and on a per-game basis it's a fractional difference (Bills 1.45 TO/g on offense, Pats 1.25 TO/g). For turnovers, on a per-drive basis Bills 12.5%, Pats 11.8% on offense and Bills 19.0%, Pats 19.4% on defense. Now worse is worse, but over an 11 or 12 game sample that may actually not be statistically significant (where's @billsfan1959?) The BIG difference from what I've seen, that may be significant, is penalties, especially on offense. Both teams 7th for penalties per game on defense, and 22 or 23 for penalty yards per game on defense. But on offense, the Bills are significantly worse - 27th in the league for penalties per game and 24th for penalty yards per game. The Patriots are 7th for penalties per game, and 14th for penalty yards per game. The numbers on offense are 7.2 pen/G vs 5.6, and 63 yds vs 52 yds. I SMDH about the Bills and penalties, because McDermott preaches process, process, process and discipline, discipline, discipline and yet - the results on the field are not what one would like. Anyone got a good source to break down penalties per game by type and position group?
  12. OFFENSE: Current NFL Per Game Ranking Beloved Buffalo Bills Patriots****** PPG scored 2 7 YPG 5 14 Pass NY/A 8 (6.9) 10 (6.9) Rush Y/A 6 (4.6) 20 (4.1) Turnover % 12.5 (1.45 per game) 11.8 (1.25 per game) Penalties/Game 27 (7.2) 7 (5.6) Penalty YPG 24 (63) 14 (52) As on my earlier Defense, I'd be happy to add rank or info for any metric anyone is interested in. Just ask.... Data are from Pro-Football Reference, converted to per-game and ranked by Yours Truly using Excel Turnover % per PFR is "percentage of drives ending in an opponents offensive turnover" @Jauronimo Both teams have 25 takeaways on defense. Bills have 16 give-aways on Offense; Pats have 15 give-aways on Offense. So turnover differential is 9 for the Bills and 10 for the Pats, or 0.82/game for the Bills vs. 0.83/game for the Pats. Assuming my math is correct. I'm not sure how turnovers on ST are listed. I would guess they are listed on Offense for punts and for kickoffs, and on Defense for punt receiving and kickoff receiving, but I'm unsure. Anyone?
  13. I added turnovers per game Per PFR, turnover % is "percentage of drives ending in an opponents offensive turnover"
  14. It's not for nothing IMO that Poyer mentioned several times them needing to trust, and learning to trust, Dane. However, Frazier hesitates to make adjustments that haven't been practiced during the week, so I hope that he has a Plan installed in case the kid does need some help. Cope. When we have several members in a thread lobbying for a visiting team fan to be banned and another guy implying that the thread has become a sewer, it's time to try something new. I'm not afraid to make in-game adjustments here (and Stand the Roast if they suck). I can only hope that 1) Ed Oliver really brings it on Monday nite - he has openly talked about how he plays better in front of family. We need him to Bring It full-time 2) Leslie Frazier has a "plan B" in case his original plan isn't working - since he seems reluctant to make in-game adjustments
  15. This topic is already under discussion in several other threads. Please use the search function or make a cursory glance around the first page of the board before starting new threads
  16. Excel is only the lapping water of the Deep Pool of my Evil Powers here....Now I get back to trying to create a respectable GDT
  17. See above for my post on this topic. Rush YPG, pass YPG, I got ya good question. it's not turnovers per game. I will research and respond. I can't get net easily, but I can do turnovers per game That would be me. Yolo and his posts getting moved around the board is just an Innocent Victim of Circumstance as I move actual game-week discussion over here.
  18. So I don't have a cool graphic, but I did some research for actual per-game defensive paramenters DEFENSE: Current NFL Per Game Ranking Beloved Buffalo Bills Patriots****** PPG against 2nd (16.5 ppg) 1st (15.8 ppg) YPG against 1st (275.2) 4th (316.7) Pass NY/A against 1st 3rd Rush Y/A against 1st 23rd Turnover % 19.1% (2.27 per game) 19.4% (2.08 per game) Penalties/Game 7th 7th Penalty yds/Game 23rd 23rd I'd be happy to add rank for any metric anyone is interested in. Just ask.... Data are from Pro-Football Reference, converted to per-game and ranked by Yours Truly using Excel Edit: added actual # of turnovers per game (tied at 25 total but Pats played 1 more game) Turnover % per PFR is "percentage of drives ending in an opponents offensive turnover"
  19. Nothing like thinking big! I can't decide - is that a compliment, or a troll?
  20. Good news: Bills have Feliciano practicing and Brown/Lotulelei back Brown is not even on the injury report. Feliciano seen on a film clip hopping on injured calf while kicking with other leg up to chest height, which is promising. Lotulelei is listed as "limited" with "illness" as of Friday. Game Day status comes out today, so we'll see.
