  1. Just No, man. If you want to know what our Pats fans think, you can post this in the Weather thread and tag them. Put an @ then type their name and a list will come up, click. For example if I type "@Bu" I get a drop down list where I can select you.
  2. Going to the moon would require different clothing. No garbage bag skirts or Frogg Toggs. Might wear wool though. As someone else said, the OP was just looking for advice and people who thought he shouldn't need it were being unnecessarily jerks, which is why he got a few very detailed responses. Some people don't know what "normal winter weather wear" is. Either they live in a more temperate climate, or they just don't Do outdoors stuff in adverse weather. Also some people are more cold-blooded than others. Go Bills!
  3. Just some boilerplate stuff from McDermott about game by game
  4. That was kind of my thinking - he was a legit first-ballot HOF guy, so as a "Legend of the Game" who did play for Buffalo for part of his career, it doesn't bother me. Would rather have seen Bryce Paup or Aaron Schobel but is Paup really a "legend of the game" or just "a talented player on a declining team"? I dunno I think the media just kind of wants to take pokes at B'lo right now.
  5. I tend to agree with this. Although I think the term is "legends of the game" not "players who were legends on the Bills", so there's that.
  6. I think he thought you were calling our QB Josh a moron, which would be a bit over the top for a Pats fan guest in our forum to do. Why do you think so poorly of McDaniels? Most knowledgeable football people seem to think he's doing a great job developing Mac Jones, and if you've got one of the top offenses in the NFL with a balanced attack, why does it need to be a two TE offense?
  7. I actually thought @Shaw66 idea of a "garbage bag skirt" was genius. Much better than my idea of laying one down on the seat and one over your legs. And the flimsy poncho may have its place, but as a topping of extra waterproofness over the rest of the stuff
  8. I expect Cavemen...stayed in their cave when it was dark, raining, and 20-25 mpg winds. Probably toasting their toes around a fire while wrapped in a bearskin cape.
  9. Possible that what we learned from the Colts game is that if we're missing both Edmunds and Star while playing the #1 RB for Y/A and Yds, we're screwed
  10. Actually in the Dawson Knox interview I just linked in the Game Week, he would agree with you; he said he'd rather play when it's cold and then when you're warmed up you feel good vs playing in 100 degrees (I think that's what 85 degrees climbs to on the Astroturf) and you're getting IVs at halftime for cramping
  11. Boy, the reporters are really going after Dawson Knox about the Bills recent record https://www.buffalobills.com/video/dawson-knox-each-game-has-a-life-of-its-own Bet he's sorry he agreed to talk to the press after practice. Question starts about 40 sec in. Dawson says that he feels they have some good momentum coming off the New Orleans win, he has confidence in their game plan and all the other guys feel the same, etc. Reporter lights into him about 'we've heard this before and then you've been up and down, up and down, why should we believe you this time'. 🤯
  12. Celsius, Italian Dude No, it just means the probability of high wind events is lower so it'll just be 17-22g25-30 instead of 55 to 60 But yeah, looks like bands of Lake Effect snow and whether/where they hit, who knows?
  13. My understanding is that the RPO is usually a run or a pass, but I suppose it could be a "triple option". I think that's rare, for the reason you allude to - the OL needs to know what play to block. The blocking scheme is part of the play call, and that's what the OL does whether it is gap or zone. For that reason, I think it's either a pass, or a run but the play design is either Josh runs or the back runs, not both. Sometimes Josh scrambles instead of passing, just as he does with every pass play. That's just my understanding though. Lamar Jackson does this too - it's part of selling the RPO, and if it's done correctly it doesn't slow the back down. If he does this, it's poor execution on his part and he needs to be coached up. I'm not saying you're not right in practice, and even at its best I do think there is a fear about getting too far downfield that keeps the OL from really attacking, but to my understanding the premise of the RPO is that the OLmen run block on an RPO, period, and they run block for one blocking scheme. So it's not (in theory) the "not knowing which way the play is going to go" you portray, it's just if the timing is off the OL could get too far downfield and a penalty. The Patriots, BTW, have 28 plays designated by PFR as "RPOs" of which 0 are runs. I'm not sure how this is being defined. I agree. Josh is literally a magician - he does slight-of-hand magic tricks as a hobby - and in some games where he's under center, the cameraman can't tell where the ball has gone, and neither can the defense. He's improved dramatically at these handoffs and at his footwork under center, and it's good to take advantage of that. You never know what you're going to get with Daboll, but I hope he doesn't outsmart himself. We probably need some designed runs for Josh, but he needs to GET OOB or GET DOWN, and if he scrambles, he can not hold the ball like a ***** chunk of tuna waving about over the Orca tank at Seaworld waiting for the killer whales to broach and strip it from his hand.
  14. Greg Cosell has expertise at film analysis and usually gives an interesting take. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/greg-cosell-previews-bills-patriots
  15. So Ford seems to be a new addition to the "Questionable" game time designation, along with Obada. (cue sad trombone joke about "always questionable") I thought Gillislee might be questionable because he's been limited all week. Pats injury report. Given Belichick's questionable historical use of injury reports, I question the questionables https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/patriots-bills-week-thirteen-injury-report-final-edition-e2-80-94-eight-pats-e2-80-98questionable-e2-80-99-for-monday-night/ar-AARtlRJ No word on Kyle Duggar. It's my understanding he could be activated Monday if he's vaccinated, has no symptoms starting today through Monday, and tests negative 2x 24 hrs apart. We don't know if he's vaccinated.
  16. Latest from wunderground. Click to embiggen: There is still a high wind watch for Sunday evening into Monday. Current forecast is that the strongest winds will be near Lake Erie, most likely Sunday Evening and continuing into Monday. I hope the Bills have been hitting the Wet Ball drills hard.
  17. The thing about Goretex is that it's great for letting out perspiration so you don't get soaked from the inside with evaporating sweat. But I suspect that if you're standing around, you can do with non-breatheable raingear. OK, maybe I'm wrong
  18. I can't help you on the Bills game perspective, but I can tell you how I'd dress for the evening/am on a winter backpacking trip: First layer: polypro long undies. Patagonia makes some of the best, but for a football game, you could do with stuff from Costco: https://www.costco.com/32-degrees-men's-heat-tee%2c-2-pack.product.100507954.html https://www.costco.com/32-degrees-men's-heat-pant%2c-2-pack.product.100508321.html Second layer: Heavier long-sleeve mock or T-neck. No cotton. Poly or wool. This kind of thing: https://www.costco.com/spyder-active-men’s-performance-¼-zip.product.100750372.html Either fleece pants, or fleece lined pants as a 2nd and 3rd layer. https://www.costco.com/orvis-men's-fleece-lined-jogger.product.100769454.htm Third layer: Fleece This kind of thing on top: https://www.costco.com/orvis-men’s-fleece-lined-quarter-zip-pullover.product.100754765.html This kind of thing on bottom: (over fleece pants) https://www.costco.com/eddie-bauer-men's-fleece-lined-pant.product.100764387.html Gaiter and balaclava This goes on and gets tucked into my third layer, sometimes pulled on over my head and left on my head with just my face showing: https://www.costco.com/arctic-cool-cooling-face-gaiter-3-pack.product.100690135.html https://www.amazon.com/Fleece-Windproof-Balaclavas-Super-Outlet/dp/B016YWH0S2/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=fleece+balaclava&qid=1638665421&sr=8-8 If you keep your neck and head warm and dry, you need less covering on the rest of your body If you're cold blooded, add a puffer vest, either waterproof down or synthetic batting Top layer, rain coat with a hood that snugs up and rain pants The rain pants are important. You need waterproof/breathable like Goretex if you alternate moving and standing still (like if you're energetic and jump up and down and bang seatbacks and cheer), but you can do with Frogg Toggs from Walmart if you're primarily standing around and you're careful: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Frogg-Toggs-Pro-Lite-Waterproof-Rain-Suit-Khaki-Size-X-Large-XX-Large/44813290?athbdg=L1800 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Frogg-Toggs-Pro-Lite-Waterproof-Rain-Suit-Royal-Blue-Size-Medium-Large/43333885?athcpid=43333885&athpgid=AthenaItempage&athcgid=null&athznid=si&athieid=v0&athstid=CS004&athguid=4audLnSFHORCTHIfuonC8w4Dh8AEqWPiayiy&athancid=null&athena=true You either need rain pants that cover the top of your boots, or wear gaiters to keep rain from running down into your boots and getting your socks wet. If you're wearing non-breatheable raingear, open the front at the neck and unzip your 2nd and 3rd layer to vent some heat if you feel yourself getting warm. And you will get damp inside. Wear 2 pairs of socks, for me, wool - liner socks and thick outer socks Wear a pair of poly liner gloves covered by insulated, waterproof mittens Those LLBean or Sorel type winter boots with the heavy felt liners are great, but if you can find army-surplus Kboots, those are marvelous. IMHO the place to spend money is on mittens and boots. Carry two plastic trash bags. Sit on one if the seat is wet, slit the other (at home if you can't bring a knife in) and put it over your lap if you're sitting, because pressure points at your butt and knees will cause water to soak through rainproof gear Put a poncho over the top of your gear - A lot of rain gear isn't meant for hours of soaking rain. Basically, for me, if I pay attention to keeping my neck and head warm and my core warm, my hands and feet stay warm enough. This is where you have to know yourself - if you're "cold blooded" you may need chemical handwarmers and footwarmers, a fur hat with ear flaps, whatever. Layers make a huge difference Polyester fleece stays warm when damp. Wool is OK too, but I'm too lazy to pamper it in the washing machine and protect it from moths in summer, and fleece is cheaper. Your mind is the big thing - if you set your mind that the cold doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother you as much - at least not down to the point where hot food freezes in the bowl if you don't eat it quickly and exposed skin risks frostbite quickly. Hope this helps, along with links for relatively cheap versions of what's needed
  19. Matt Cassel did not win 11 games in NE. Cassel played 15 games for NE that year. In those 15 games, the record was 10-5. Two years later, Cassel was 10-5 in KC (the team was 10-6 with backup Brodie Croyle losing 1 game) Fun fact, in the KC season, Charlie Weis was the OC. Josh McDaniels and not Charlie Weis was the OC in NE, but the offense was derivative of the offense Weis installed there. I think we have no idea what Mac Jones ceiling is. That's going to depend upon Mac Jones.
  20. Geesh, if you're going to ask people to read and comment on your post could you at least get the player's names correct and look up that Wade had season-ending surgery back in August? This. The Bills problem isn't Singletary and Moss per se. It's the combination of having backs who require a strong run-blocking OL to be effective with an OL that is not a strong run-blocking line.
  21. This was covered in a thread, hmmm hmmm maybe after the Jags game? Game where we ran a lot of RPOs. My understanding is that in an RPO, the line run blocks, period. The QB reads the conflict defender and passes if appropriate. In theory, the OL just run blocks with vim and vigor as though it's a run play. In practice, if they get too far downfield, it's a penalty, so that has to be on their mind. According to the principle that the best way to get correct info on the internet, is to post something wrong, I feel certain someone will correct me if need be
  22. I think it's part mental attitude and part physical mismatch for our guys. Josh Allen has quoted his college coach saying "football is a Man Whupping Man game". That starts between the ears. There are clearly games where we are highly physical. The KC game this year, the Ravens and Colts playoff games last year come to mind. There are games where we're not - the Titans game and Colts games this season come to mind, the Jags game on offense, as well as the KC AFCCG last season. There are games where we're not, on one side of the ball or another. We tend to be a physically smaller team - for example, we typically play with 2 LB, and our DL and OL tend to be on the smaller side. That's a mismatch they overcome with attitude, technique, and energy. If they know what they're seeing and play fast and with confidence, they can win. If they need to process and it slows them a bit, if they don't bring the goods on technique, or if they think they can "phone it in", they get run over. IMHO, there's some aspect of coaching involved - making sure the guys are 100% prepared mentally and not "behind the week" in getting ready, and also somehow getting them to play with the same energy and discipline week in and week out. My feeling is that if we have a really hard physical game one week (like against the Ravens in the playoffs last season) we tend to have a bit of a letdown the following week.
  23. In view of all the work required on this end, your sarcasm was given its due appreciation by me. What exactly that means is left as an exercise by the intelligent reader. Erik Turner's wife says "drink until your husband looks like Matt Milano" *heh* 😇 It's not just Breida. There's been an effort to operate more from under center so as to create some doubt as to whether it's pass, play action, or run. Breida also allows us to actually run outside the tackles.
