  1. He's got a great deep ball, and he did a nice job for a 1st year starter. That he couldn't win against the better teams and had a record of 0-5 when throwing 30 or more passes doesn't put him in the top-20 for me. I've said repeatedly that folks should feel free to rank the starting QBs from 1 to 32 in an honest assessment--I did so and couldn't find a way to get Tyrod into the top 17. His reasonable range IMO is 18-25.
  2. Had Breckenridge bourbon last night--solid sipper. Fruit-forward, smooth finish.
  3. I'm glad I'm not the only person that sees the pattern here. You nailed it Hopeful. Good post.
  4. He's categorically unable to play against Buffalo, so that skews my perception of him. I say he's bottom-third of the starters in the league; same echelon in which I have Tyrod at the moment.
  5. Wait, Richie abused a woman and threw her onto a bed of loaded weapons, then refused to take responsibility for it? Nice
  6. Does every post have to contain a straw man argument for the sole purpose of criticizing other posters on this board? No one has ever insisted that Watkins' injury isn't a Jones' fracture--I've seen a few folks say that your supposition hasn't been confirmed, but that's a nautical mile from "everyone insisting that it isn't", though the latter serves the purpose of allowing you to criticize others. Also, it may be prudent to tone down the declaration that Sammy will miss time this year since he's reportedly returning to practice this week. Of course, to recognize that would impinge upon the selected narrative of a "Nancy Boy" that has started and played in 29 out of 32 games in his first 2 seasons--same as Julio Jones and more than Dez Bryant (again, context; I know you aren't a fan). As to Reggie, the team has been perfectly forthcoming: it's his knee, they had an MRI that was inconclusive, he has swelling, they're awaiting results from more tests, and they hope to have an update today. Where's the subterfuge?
  7. It's sarcasm methinks And jimmy gets a gold star for the Futurama reference
  8. Yup--back for the Arizona game. IMO that's the best-case scenario, but I can't think of any other injuries that aren't symptomatic of ligament damage but are also non-contact besides a meniscal tear
  9. My money is still on a patellar strain
  10. I'm still in the throes of my powerlifting "career", and the worst I've had was/is SI joint dysfunction. I'm small though--heaviest I've ever competed is at 75 kg. I'm really right between weight classes since I'm most comfortable at 155-160 lbs. My best competition total was 1,070 back in June (320/250/500). What I've discovered most recently is that there's no better way to prepare my body than Muscle Energy Technique and Muscle Activation. I've been using Douglas Heel's Be Activated both first thing in the morning (I lift at 5 am) and last thing before bed. I am astonished by how much better I feel--I'm waking up without pain in my joints consistently. I'd like to see the Bills institute more of this type of work--the research regarding injury-proofing athletes is really compelling.
  11. So when Ohio State faces Middle Nebraska Tech in their first game, that's not effectively a preseason game?
  12. I'm no expert, but that sounds like it could be a patellar strain (I see it a lot when athletes are doing mid-speed COD drills).
  13. Working until early afternoon Thursday and taking the day off Friday. I will, as always, be stone-cold sober for the game, which I will attend in my season-ticketed seat; the beginning of my 28th year of season tickets.
  14. The 2 best are a Japanese whiskey called Hibiki 17, and a Taiwanese whiskey called Kavalan. Both are tremendous, though there's nothing wrong with Taketsuru 17 or Nikka Yoichi 15 either--great stuff.
  15. It doesn't matter really...all the Bills have to do is make it clear that--in the event neither is signed, they'll use the tag on Taylor.
  16. Widow Jane is nice. Have you ventured into the Asian whiskeys yet? Divine.
  17. Welcome to a conversation with Tasker's Ghost. Anyway, here's a direct quote from Whaley: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000204027/article/new-bills-gm-doug-whaley-integral-in-ej-manuel-pick "I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" on Thursday. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board." Whaley did allow that it was a "collaborative effort" between area scouts, cross-checkers, coach Doug Marrone and Nix, but the new front-office boss is comfortable with hanging his hat on Manuel after vetting the quarterback in the pre-draft process. So yes, Whaley was an integral part of the decision...that said, it was clearly a collaborative effort. I've said many times before that I believe that Whaley did the right thing by picking EJ. They had nothing that resembled a potential franchise QB at the time, so they took the guy with the most upside, which was clearly EJ. The pick didn't work out, and that's a shame, so you move on to the next guy. And it's quite clear that the reason that EJ is still on the team is because, prior to this season, it would have cost them cap space to cut him. Now that is no longer the case, but since they don't have another option at backup, and haven't found a trade partner for EJ (so as to clear some of the cap hit if he's no longer here), it makes sense to hold onto him.
  18. EJ was 2013 Kouandjio was 2014 Many of us hated that pick at the time, and not a single thing has changed for me.
  19. Yes it'll cost more, and we'll be overjoyed to pay it if he's the real deal
  20. It's been a tequila summer for me. Casa Noble neat...great sipper. I've also occasioned to indulge in rums the past few weeks; Kirk and Sweeny 18 year & El Dorado 12 year. Both very solid.
  21. Yes. Assuming it's equal cap hit for both years, it'll add $12M this year and $15M next year. Since Gilmore already counts for $11M against the cap, his new deal would likely lower that amount, and they'd still have around $20M left under next year's cap (assuming it continues to rise at the expected rate).
  22. Love this kid. I don't know that he'll ever be an every-down player, but I do think he'll eventually be a contributor both on the EDGE and as a Will. Side note: he's got a plaque hanging in his locker that reads: "Expect nothing, Keep sweating." I'm going to cheer really hard for this kid to make it.
  23. His 27 TD/2 INT season came under Kelly's first year.
  24. I think it's more that the rest of the league caught up to the offense that Chip Kelly was running, though that's certainly a possibility.
