Reggie Ragland to have knee surgery; out for season
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably have to hope that you can get through the first NE game with big nickel and disguising back 7 assignments against Janine Garrafalo, and hope that Shaq is back in time for the 2nd game so that you can use Manny at ILB. -

It's more about who they couldn't add IMO. I think a RT and a starting safety would've been smart adds, but instead they chose to keep Kyle and Corey Graham. Debatable moves IMO -

I think that point is a bit overstated honestly. Break it down pick-by-pick: 2013 1st - EJ - bust 2013 2nd - Woods - decent (I won't go as far as bona fide #2 WR, but he looked the part in 2013/2014) 2013 2nd - Kiko - in the ROTY conversation in 2013, injured in 2014, traded for Shady-solid 2014 1st - Sammy - solid (at worst) 2014 2nd - Kouandjio - bust (one that many of us saw coming) 2015 1st - n/a 2015 2nd - Darby - solid (at least as of year 1) 2016 1st - Shaq - TBD (while the injury and surgery is a setback, grading a pick is far more about long-term output, so I'll say incomplete) 2016 2nd - Reggie - TBD (I wasn't a huge fan of the pick, but again, it's really hard to fault the GM for a non-contact injury, and there's no point in placing a grade on a guy that won't play a down due to unforeseen injury) It's certainly not a debacle, though there are certain picks (Kouandjio, Shaq, Reggie) that could be questioned IMO. Others, like EJ, Sammy, & Darby, really shouldn't be questioned at this point. Yes, EJ busted, but they needed to take a shot at a QB at that point. Either way, I definitely think both the coach and GM are fighting for their jobs at this point (as well they should be). -
Schefter: Shaq Lawson Back Between Week 6 and 8

He's already on the PUP list...didn't we know this already? Still, it's good to see confirmation that he could be back mid-October -

Stinks. The only saving grace here is that I didn't have a very high opinion of Reggie to begin with, so I think the combination of Zach and Spikes may be an adequate replacement. Not having Shaq or Manny would be a much bigger issue IMO. -

I think Shaq can stay on the Active/PUP through Week 10, at which time he needs to be activated or placed on IR. -
Julian Edelman Injury at Cheatriots Camp?

You're right, 35 and self-employed with plenty of spare time to spend on my favorite team's board is laughable. 72 and still letting the words of "pathetic failures" upset you over the Internet (while spending time in a forum that you freely admit is a waste of time), on the other hand, is a fine example of a life well-lived. Cheers to you. -

After 72 years you believe that retirement and time compounding are functions of age? Us "kids" know better. Also, you'd be the first 72-year old I've ever encountered to use terms like "weak sauce", which my generation (I'm 35) thinks are juvenile. Nice try though -

What's the matter Fergs? You have a hard time believing that it's the septuagenarians of the world that come onto a rival team message board and get indignant about what their fans say? -

So the 7 other threads you participated in gave you no indication, but this one does? It's phenomenal. I top it off with some sea salt and cinnamon. -

Not. Even. Close. Spags has chutzpah, and plenty of it. Comparing this dude to Spags is like Henry Hill in witness protection ordering spaghetti and meat sauce and getting egg noodles and ketchup. -

A few pages in, I give this troll effort a 3/10. It's generally weak. Not nearly snarky enough, contains very few references to the actual team he's trying to troll, and shows a general lack of NFL knowledge. I'm starting to lose interest to be honest. -

Actually, NE hasn't had the best ratings on TV in a while. Seattle's been No. 1 in each of the past 3 seasons. And I'll tell you with zero compunction that you could say the same thing about any two of the teams I mentioned. Know why? Because a game between two teams that play winning football is always going to be a candidate for the game of the year. I didn't intend for this to turn into such a manhandling...my bad The guy I really feel bad for is Ninkovich--good player. -

In this one rare instance, Common, I think you and I disagree. It's seedy, but it's legal, and I didn't have an issue. I can see, however, why someone might. I don't find the Patriots interesting in comparison to other teams. Carolina, NO, Indy, Denver, Seattle, Arizona; those teams were exciting. NE is milquetoast by comparison (except for Gronk, who I have a soft spot for since I watched all 5 of those kids grow up); they're in prime time a lot because they win and play in a huge market. -

Hey, that's gamesmanship. I literally had no problem with the formation screwiness; I had a major problem with the officials not being able to correctly identify and announce who the ineligible RB/WR was though Wouldn't I be watching NASCAR if that were the case? It's clear that you're merely here to argue, which is fine, I've got time to kill (next meeting isn't until 5:30). If you were actually here to converse, there's no way you'd be this obtuse. -

Oh, so what you really mean is that the NFL puts NE in prime time more than they do Buffalo? Great. Again, thanks for the update. This guy's got less substance than a chic club cocktail. -

Be fair Greggy; I don't think NE has ever won because of cheating. Except maybe against the Rams in that Superbowl--a little too much smoke surrounding that one. -

Well, considering that you keep ignoring what I've said, yes, I'm questioning your credibility. Here's a hint: when you acknowledge what someone has actually stated, it helps build credibility. Ignoring it and making things up (i.e. "this guy likes to see people get hurt"), well, not so much. When you speak only in opinions and do nothing to back them up, well, that's hardly credible. -

Then you have no point whatsoever, since the NFL dominates television ratings regardless of who is playing. A TNF game between the Jags and Titans draws crazy ratings, because it's NFL football. -

Actually, Buffalo's market ratings are consistently among the best in the NFL, so yes, people do tune in to watch the Bills. http://sportstvratings.com/category/local-market-nfl-ratings/ Get educated about the NFL landscape before you come in here pretending to know what you're talking about. -

Let's get one thing straight: you came here and quoted me. You can call me names all you'd like, I won't respond in kind since I'm not foolish enough to think I can assess your character across a message board. I've made my opinion on Edelman quite clear. ^ Original quote. Too ambiguous for you? Well then read the rest of my response to you. Cliff's Notes version: when guys that have proven themselves jerks have a measure of bad fortune that doesn't affect their quality of life long-term, then it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Let's also remember that you're the one that took exception to 3 different statements, and now won't defend your stance with anything other than feigned outrage. Tell me again: who's the "punk with the axe to grind"? The guy that shows up on a rival team's board, spouts off in indignation, and won't defend his stance when challenged, or the guy that explains his position thoroughly with facts? -

I actually don't like seeing anyone get hurt. Not Brady, not Gronk, not Deon Lewis, etc. The only guys that I don't feel bad for, and yes, maybe even smile in schadenfreude when they get hurt are the jerks like Edelman, OBJ, Greg Hardy, etc. Fixed. -
Julian Edelman Injury at Cheatriots Camp?
thebandit27 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, you know absolutely nothing about me except that I don't like Edelman. Further, the fact that I don't like Edelman does nothing to refute any of the facts that I've presented, because none of them are my opinion--the issues are mutually exclusive. If anything, the fact that you got upset about your team being called cheaters (they are, this is fact not opinion), using HGH (they have--see Harrison, Rodney), and Edelman being a jerk (he is, see links above), but now won't engage in a discussion to refute any of it tells me that, indeed, one of us has lost credibility. I'm right here, ready to engage. Unfortunately, you thought you'd come in this thread with a little fly-by to defend the indefensible and not get challenged on it. You have, and now you're tucking tail and running. I'm not surprised.
