  1. QBs throw at everyone Every week
  2. WR and safety are the biggest needs, but I'm a best-available non-RB kind of guy
  3. No question that they're still using Roman's play design--you can see it in the way the OL is moving around and the variety of attack points in the blocking sets. What Lynn has done is thin the playbook down to the things we do well--very Belichick-like in that way.
  4. I'm sure this is tongue-in-cheek, but for fun I looked it up, and Football Outsiders has Buffalo's ST DVOA ranking 12th http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamst
  5. That makes absolutely no sense--the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts?
  6. Pertinent offensive/defensive stats for both teams: Rushing offense Buf 166.3 ypg (1st) - Miami 97.3 ypg (20th) Buf 5.6 ypc (1st) - Miami 4.6 ypc (7th) Buf 9 TDs (T-3rd) - Miami 7 TDs (T-5th) Buf 53 rushing 1st downs (2nd) - Miami 29 rushing 1st downs (22nd) Buf 11 rushes 20+ yards (1st) - Miami 3 rushes 20+ yards (T-15th) Passing offense Buf 171.0 ypg (32nd) - Miami 234.8 ypg (23rd) Buf 6.1 ypa (26th) - Miami 8.1 ypa (5th) Buf 8 TDs (T-16th) - Miami 6 TDs (T-25th) Buf 2 INTs (T-5th) - Miami 7 INTs (T-26th) Buf 50 passing 1st downs (32nd) - Miami 61 passing 1st downs (T-26th) Buf 12 20+ yard completions (T-29th) - Miami 23 20+ yard completions (T-4th) Buf 13 sacks allowed (T-17th) - Miami 17 sacks allowed (28th) Buf 91.5 team passer rating (15th) - Miami 85.9 team passer rating (22nd) Buf 4 giveaways (T-3rd) - Miami 11 giveaways (T-29th) Rushing defense Buf 103.2 ypg (15th) - Miami 147.0 ypg (31st) Buf 3.8 ypc allowed (10th) - Miami 4.5 ypc allowed (24th) Buf 6 TDs allowed (T-20th) - Miami 4 TDs allowed (T-11th) Buf 36 rushing 1st downs allowed (T-17th) - Miami 43 rushing 1st downs allowed (T-29th) Buf 2 rushes 20+ yards allowed (T-7th) - Miami 5 rushes 20+ yards allowed (T-23rd) Passing defense Buf 242.0 ypg (14th) - Miami 236.7 ypg (13th) Buf 7.8 ypa allowed (22nd) - Miami 7.2 ypa allowed (T-16th) Buf 3 TDs allowed (1st) - Miami 9 TDs allowed (T-17th) Buf 6 INTs (T-6th) - Miami 3 INTs (T-22nd) Buf 74 passing 1st downs allowed (17th) - Miami 73 passing 1st downs allowed (16th) Buf 21 20+ yard completions allowed (T-25th) - Miami 19 20+ yard completions allowed (T-14th) Buf 20 sacks (2nd) - Miami 12 sacks (T-16th) Buf 77.3 team passer rating against (6th) - Miami 93.9 team passer rating against (20th) Buf 12 takeaways (T-2nd) - Miami 3 takeaways (T-18th) Passing offense Buf 171.0 ypg (32nd) - Miami 234.8 ypg (23rd) Buf 6.1 ypa (26th) - Miami 8.1 ypa (5th) Buf 8 TDs (T-16th) - Miami 6 TDs (T-25th) Buf 2 INTs (T-5th) - Miami 7 INTs (T-26th) Buf 50 passing 1st downs (32nd) - Miami 61 passing 1st downs (T-26th) Buf 12 20+ yard completions - Miami 23 20+ yard completions (T-4th) Buf 13 sacks allowed (T-17th) - Miami 17 sacks allowed (28th) Buf 91.5 team passer rating (15th) - Miami 85.9 team passer rating (22nd) Buf 4 giveaways (T-3rd) - Miami 11 giveaways (T-29th)
  7. He's also 2nd in YPC (among qualified RBs), 2nd in rushes of 20+ yards, and tied for 3rd in rushing 1st downs.
  8. Not possible. He would cost an enormous amount of dead money against the cap--nearly double of what he'll cost to keep him here. Even if they were inclined to trade him (which they're not), it would be a horrific financial decision.
  9. Might be worth another look...Darby was clearly playing zone, while Gilmore, NRC, Graham, and both Browns were in man (Zack was spying Kaep). I think it's more likely that the one screwed up than the other 5.
  10. Oh I know That'd be ideal, and it's my plan as well. I just happen to believe they'll be most effective rushing early if they can soften up the interior with some short timing throws. Actually quite similar to their opening drive of last year's game in Miami
  11. I'm good dude, how's things in the southern continent? My biggest beefs with Gilmore are ball awareness and his poor tackling technique. I do like that his best game this year came against the best QB they faced. I would love to see him turn in a stellar performance against Brady in 2 weeks, but I have a feeling Brady will do as he always does and take what the defense gives him. We shall see.
  12. Heck no. I'm basing this on the idea that Miami plays Buffalo twice a year, every year. I'm just saying that it would make sense for this to be a week to use the short passing game to set up the run.
  13. I would come out with the short passing game. Miami is going to game plan to support their porous run defense, and I think there's the chance to hurt them with passes to backs and TEs early on, and then lean on the run game as things move forward. Defensively, the key has to be pressuring Tannehill; he simply can't play against it.
  14. He had the interior slot guy who ran a 1-route to the flat. Hopefully I'll be wrong in the long run
  15. Don't worry about me, Jerry. I don't get offended. Ever. It was some friendly advice that insult-hurling isn't helping your argument. There's no way to manipulate numbers--they simply are what they are...and again, you're the one attempting to marginalize Manning in order to hang your hat on the idea that the CBs didn't play well against him, which isn't even a logical conclusion. The point here is simple: if you feel emboldened enough to call someone a troll or a fan boy, my advice is to have the first clue who you're talking to, else you look foolish. I have no problem with paying him premium dollars to stay. As long as they're smart about the structure of the deal and leave themselves an out after 3 years. That way, they have the flexibility to choose whether they want to let Gilmore walk and pay Darby, the younger player. They've also shown that they can get solid play at other positions like ILB and EDGE with lesser talents, so paying up for a corner isn't a non-starter.
  16. This is, down to the word, the exact same breakdown of responsibilities that I saw, so I'm 100% confident in your contribution's accuracy. Thanks for chiming in!
  17. Just keep throwing out insults instead of backing up your claim; I promise it's working really well. I'm sure 100% of the folks reading this thread are being won over to your POV. Nope. Once again, watch the games. An astute fan would know what happened out there, but thankfully, for those that aren't great at identifying what's happening on the field, here's the information: https://www.profootballfocus.com/ne-buf-grades-brady-carves-up-bills-patriots-dominate-in-trenches/ "The one bright spot was rookie CB Ronald Darby (+1.1), who allowed only three catches on nine targets for 48 yards, and even won a few battles against Gronkowski." "CB Stephon Gilmore (-2.2) only surrendered eight official catches for 57 yards" Reminder that Brady completed 38 passes for 466 yards. Apparently 11 of those 38 completions and 105 of those 466 yards (and zero TDs) came against the corners. So yes, apparently Brady completed 27 passes for 361 yards and 3 TDs against guys that aren't Gilmore and Darby. So we're back to marginalizing the good performances in order to make your point? Manning threw for 817 yards in the 3 games following the Bills game. In fact, his 3rd-highest full-game QB rating of 2014 came in the very next game against SD, in which he complete 70% of his throws en route to an easy victory. Oh, and since I know "SD sucks!!11!!1!" is the next thing coming, let me head that off right now: they had the No. 4 ranked pass defense in 2014, one spot behind Buffalo. If you believe that, then I'm afraid you simply don't know how to read. The corners were flat-out bad in the Jets game, as I've said both in this thread and in the Gilmore thread that followed the Jets' game (which I'm sure you didn't see, because you keep ignorantly banging the "fan boy" drum). What I am saying, for about the 12th time, is that one game should not carry more weight than a 5-year career. For you, somehow, it does, and frankly that's a very poor analytical method. Says the guy that posted a PFF grade on Gilmore that dates back 4 years as his first source
  18. Oh, and before we all pile on Darby for blowing his assignment, Richard Sherman made almost the exact same mistake yesterday, and it resulted in a Julio Jones TD
  19. Watch The Games Brady did all of his damage on the interior. Manning was playing well against every other team The Bills had one sack all game against Rodgers--he even complained in the media about the Bills' corners roughing up the Packers' receivers. YOU are the one grasping, as every single factual point I make that contradicts your crusade is met with some attempt to marginalize the facts. And once again, we're back to "but Fitzpatrick!!!!" as the foundation of your argument. Yes, they played poorly against the Jets. Now please acknowledge that you're basing your opinion on a single game as opposed to the remainder of the guy's 5-year career.
  20. Nope--Darby played zone while the rest of the cover guys (corners and LBs) played man. My money is on Darby's mistake.
  21. Actually, the corners played very well against Brady last year--it was the safeties and LBs that got victimized repeatedly in game 1. Try watching the games. It seems the only argument you have is that the corners didn't play well against the Jets. Nice work. As for against elite QBs--you seem to have forgotten what they did to Aaron Rodgers and pre-dead-arm Peyton Manning in back-to-back weeks in 2014, but nice job trying to marginalize the stats that you asked for
  22. I wonder why he hasn't commented on my link?
  23. As I've since stated (and shown with clips from Rex's playbook): Gilmore (and everyone else at the 2nd level) was in man coverage on that play. The only guy at the 2nd level that played zone was Darby, so either Gilmore, NRC, and every LB got the coverage wrong, or Darby got the coverage wrong. Which one seems more likely to you?
  24. Well would you look at this? YardsPerPass.com ‏@YardsPerPass 21h21 hours ago I watched the Smith TD again, looks like Gilmore was in man and Darby in zone... Again without knowing the play we don't know who messed up Again, everyone was in man...except Darby. From 4 years ago!!!!!!!!!!! How about from last year? https://www.profootb...-buffalo-bills/ "Both Ronald Darby and Stephon Gilmore earned top-10 overall grades among NFL CBs last season."
  25. Well, here's Andy Benoit's list based on film study... http://247sports.com/Gallery/sports-illustrated-ranks-the-nfls-top-15-cornerbacks-in-2016-45398291 More: https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-2016-cheat-sheet-buffalo-bills/ "Both Ronald Darby and Stephon Gilmore earned top-10 overall grades among NFL CBs last season."
