Most have forgotten that the kick was on FIRST DOWN as you said, so it's 100% on Wade. No one leaves time on the clock. RJ lost his shoe and maybe Wade panicked but the FG should have been the last play. Also, the Bills o-line had multiple backups playing and it should have been a great, grind it out road win for the Bills. Sigh. -

I would be curious about the number of snaps each played. That may tell the story. -

Tailgating this fall (sept/oct)
JESSEFEFFER replied to UBBullRun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. There's a thread about the NFL's interest in Johnson. Jackson, and Hodge where this idea was discussed. Crappy Bills home schedule could mean a boost in UB attendance. It makes sense to me anyways. UB should get creative and try to market their team to Bills fans looking to enjoy some fall football while the weather is still top notch. -
With 6 home games before November vs. 2 for the Bills, it may make some sense for a concerted effort for local Bills' fans to establish more of an enthusiastic presence and get their gameday fix. The Bulls will be good this year and likely be chosen for a bowl game, maybe against a power 5 team. The crappy schedule that the NFL gave the Bills could work out for the Bulls benefit.

I did find this from PFF: "Anthony Johnson, Buffalo, 90.2 overall grade: Johnson posted the highest grade in next year’s draft class while ranking fifth in the nation with 599 yards on deep passes and forcing an impressive 18 missed tackles on his 77 catches." So maybe that ranking wasn't too outlandish. If he runs sub 4.5 it may be a legit prediction. NFL Draft Scout has Hodge as the #3 ILB. He is only 6 ft so cue the London Fletcher comparisons. http://draftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=1020780&draftyear=2019&genpos=ILB

May be the result of some regional bias. Chris Trapasso is WNY native and former editor of Buffalo Rumblings. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose. These are good players that are worthy of some publicity that would otherwise be off the radar. If he is right about one of these he looks good. They probably were part of UB's Pro day and got good numbers there. I searched and could not find anything for them. I doubt they are really ranked that high now but they could grade much higher after the 2018 season.

1) Watching his Senior Bowl throws vs. throwing to his Wyoming guys looks way different. Hardly any YAC from any of the latter. Lots of comeback and stop routes. They caught the ball OK but they were not much of any threats after the catch. Give him a go and get it, NFL calibre, physical stud of a receiver and his throws looked much better. 2) The best player Wyoming had with the ball in his hands and running in traffic was Josh Allen. Whether breaking tackles or making guys miss, he was about the only one I saw in the videos able to provide it within their passing game. 3) With protection issues and receivers not capable of winning a 50/50 ball, you see lots of designed rollouts and throws underneath the coverage. 4) Check out UB's Jackson/Johnson combination, either last year or this. Clearly, Wyoming had no option of the sort to pair with Allen. It makes a big difference to the perception of how good a QB may be. 5) I know a guy that claims the only reason he got asked about what he wanted for Father's Day or his birthday was so his family wouldn't accidently give him something he really wanted. I didn't want Allen based on the chatter but this guy definitely has some tools. 6) When he throws a pick, he seems to looking to make the tackle with an attitude. 7) Looks like he is a good threat for a QB sneak in short yardage/goal line. Can''t remember the last guy the Bills had that was.

If he grew up in Beaver Falls, PA or anywhere else, no one cares even though his name is Kelly. Because his last name is Kelly AND he grew up on GI AND played at St Joe's AND was a 4X, record setting P P and K winner AND was a 4 star recruit to Clemson AND had many well publicized screwups along the way, WNYers paid attention to his Ol' Miss career. Even my 83 year old aunt was asking me when and where their games were to be played. He was fun to watch and their games were very entertaining. The fans and players there seemed to take to him. I believe he actually finished his degree and pretty much behaved himself there. I did not and do not want him here. There is too much politics involved in an NFL QB roster as it is. Having him on the Bills' roster would make it worse. His bad behavior has really brought him alot of bad publicity, almost cost him a college career and definitely cost him draft status and money. He may have been kicked around enough to have learned something. Time will tell. He is talented enough to succeed and is a story worth following.

There is no way they could be thinking that as of now. Knee and wrist injuries left Chad unable to show much in 2017. They probably will get a QB there because they won't expect to be drafting there again soon. Contrary to Promo's take, I think there is a very good chance that he shows well this spring and fall. He is very athletic, has elite arm talent and makes surprisingly good decisions with the ball while playing his fear none style. The Broncos may be in the mood for a QB like that. Personality wise, I do not think he is dumb so much as emotionally undeveloped. Maybe permanently so. Most ultracompetitive people are jerks compared to the rest of us. They are fun to watch on the field but often come up short off of it. The good news is that this trait can work well for a QB in the NFL. Do you want your leader to say "Nah, I won't go get my brother out from the bottom of that pile at the other team's bench because it's a bad career move."? All reports are that he seemed well liked at Ol' Miss by fans and teammates and he did things there no other QB had. They were sick of losing to 'Bama, LSU and Auburn every year. I do not think Chad's personality flaws are much different than say his Uncle Jim or Brett Favre. He is just more exposed in the age of social media.

Fiction - Taylor made Oline look better
JESSEFEFFER replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A sack avoided in the first 2.5 seconds of the play was often due to Tyrod (so he made them look good) and sacks taken much longer than that were often due to Tyrod (not getting the ball out and making them look bad.) Therefore, as sack statistics go, probably trending toward a wash. -
Schopp: Taylor is better than you think.
JESSEFEFFER replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Early on in his Bills tenure, I suggested that TT could be Mike Vick with better pocket awareness and ball security. I think this is what he has shown. He does not take the brutal hits that are typical of most QBs that hold the ball like he does and he never shows signs of panic. His game never craters so even on his worst days, the Bills still have a chance. Most QBs' worst days will give their teams no chance at all. None of these traits flash in an eyepleasing manner. So Schopp is correct that TT's QB play is under appreciated. On a play to play basis, it's a fine line between patience and indecisiveness but his body of work suggests that he is amongst the most patient QBs in the league. -
Final Play--- drop or bad throw poll
JESSEFEFFER replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was TD ball placement combined with a 1st and goal from the 3 route. I am guessing as to the intent but: 0% on the throw. That was perfect for the TD. 5% on the catch. A spinning, off-balance, fingertip, circus catch is far from "drop." 95% on the route. Headed for the sideline and looking over the right shoulder and then spinning while stumbling vs. looking over the left shoulder while headed toward the EZ/pylon. Hmmm, which to choose. -
He's the kind of person and athlete that feels compelled to act on his emotional impulses when challenged. In the heat of competition, this can work for him. Out in public, not so much. His behavior at Ol' Miss was pretty good. Better than Hugh Freeze, apparently. He put the time in the filmroom and showed he wanted to succeed there. Coaches, fans and teammates seemed to genuinely appreciate him and he acted like he knew it was his last chance. He was fun to watch while there. Even my 82 year old aunt was searching out the Ol' Miss games every week. As far as his brother's high school game, how does it play if the story was "Chad stayed in the stands while his little brother was buried by the pile during a melee on the other team's sideline because it was a smart career move." I don't think Chad's ego is much different than Jim's except Jim had his brothers to box it in and he didn't grow up in the age of hyper social media. Talk at the time of the draft was that Denver was going to "red shirt" him. As it is now, he can't even throw to any active member of the team so his post practice reps are vs. air. I agree that the politics would have been much worse as a member of the Bills.

Rex has hot takes on his 2 exes, the Bills and Jets
JESSEFEFFER replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Context always matters and in this case it gets worse. In OT, after a TV timeout, after a 4th an 2 punt with 4+ minutes to play in a game where a tie does them no good. I think there were 27 coaches on his staff as well. Next time you see a high school team on the field and a player counting the number of his teammates on the field with him think of this. Rex's coaching style relied heavily on building his relationships with players and not attention to details, such as having someone designated to check the time on the play clock when the ball is marked ready for play. It's bad when the fans at home or in the stands know more about what's happening than Rex or his 27 coaches or the players on the field. Paying attention to details takes time and work. Leadership via personality is a lazy or incompetent man's only option. I prefer the professorial type leader. Levy over Ditka. Obama over Trump. But, Rex was fun until his flaws caught up with him and cost the team wins. -
Sour Sal Maiorana Strikes Again...
JESSEFEFFER replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is obvious that any new HC would want some say over the QB position. Benching TT for the last game and telling him nothing about his future is 100% compatible with giving the soon to be hired HC a chance to form his own opinion. That chance to weigh in was likely a critical part of the HC recruiting process. I do not see the need to read any more into than that. -
My Tavern on the Tracks review from the day my wife and I spent there, 12/14/2014, Bills v. Packers. "Tavern on the Tracks it was. All those recommendations were spot on. I won their halftime trivia a got a T shirt, met folks from Geneseo, Clarence, Rochester and Jamestown. The Bills won and I spent less than $40 for my wife and I to eat and drink for 6+ hours. Oh yeah, and the Bills won!" It was a great day.

This is true but an exaggerated truth. I think TT's two best games were against Seattle and the home Miami game. We all know the other issues involved in those losses. He played great in those games and the losses tend to obscure that fact. The coaching and defense have to hold up their performance to give a QB a chance to make a difference. Being great in a loss does nothing to help to define a QB as a difference maker. TT did not let the team down in those losses.
-
Bills call a pass play. TT holds the ball, scrambles around,(as he is capable of doing) and either takes a sack or gains some positive rush yards, maybe a first down or even more. Neither of these outcomes count as a "pass attempt." I would guess that TT, as a % of pass plays called, would have amongst the highest rates of "no throws." This is may not be a bad thing if it's because of his running talent and being "ball secure." So, as to the OP, I am unconvinced as to the point.

Players that stick around after their careers are more likley to have married local women and once the kids start coming, the bonds of family are tough to break. Plus. their celebrity status means more in this market than the larger ones and it does create more opportunities (I am speaking financial here.) Summers are great and the traffic is never too bad realtive to other areas. I doubt the bachelor types or the guys that met their wives elsewhere are as likely to stay. -
Two in the family section. My 78 year old mother and her 82 year old sister get their choice of a game. They had a great time last year and would like to go a game every year for as long as they still can. They especially enjoyed the section which was well behaved. Sadly, this has not always been true of other games and stadium locations. This year I paid extra for the padded seat cushions for them to sit on. I told them it was because they were candy asses. They laughed. I sit with my brother one section over.

Here is the ESPN Sport Science video for Ragland. It says Navarro Bowman is a best comparison. Maybe this was posted here when the Bills drafted him and I missed it but nothing about it suggests slow. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=15275069
