Final Play--- drop or bad throw poll
JESSEFEFFER replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was TD ball placement combined with a 1st and goal from the 3 route. I am guessing as to the intent but: 0% on the throw. That was perfect for the TD. 5% on the catch. A spinning, off-balance, fingertip, circus catch is far from "drop." 95% on the route. Headed for the sideline and looking over the right shoulder and then spinning while stumbling vs. looking over the left shoulder while headed toward the EZ/pylon. Hmmm, which to choose. -
He's the kind of person and athlete that feels compelled to act on his emotional impulses when challenged. In the heat of competition, this can work for him. Out in public, not so much. His behavior at Ol' Miss was pretty good. Better than Hugh Freeze, apparently. He put the time in the filmroom and showed he wanted to succeed there. Coaches, fans and teammates seemed to genuinely appreciate him and he acted like he knew it was his last chance. He was fun to watch while there. Even my 82 year old aunt was searching out the Ol' Miss games every week. As far as his brother's high school game, how does it play if the story was "Chad stayed in the stands while his little brother was buried by the pile during a melee on the other team's sideline because it was a smart career move." I don't think Chad's ego is much different than Jim's except Jim had his brothers to box it in and he didn't grow up in the age of hyper social media. Talk at the time of the draft was that Denver was going to "red shirt" him. As it is now, he can't even throw to any active member of the team so his post practice reps are vs. air. I agree that the politics would have been much worse as a member of the Bills.

Rex has hot takes on his 2 exes, the Bills and Jets
JESSEFEFFER replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Context always matters and in this case it gets worse. In OT, after a TV timeout, after a 4th an 2 punt with 4+ minutes to play in a game where a tie does them no good. I think there were 27 coaches on his staff as well. Next time you see a high school team on the field and a player counting the number of his teammates on the field with him think of this. Rex's coaching style relied heavily on building his relationships with players and not attention to details, such as having someone designated to check the time on the play clock when the ball is marked ready for play. It's bad when the fans at home or in the stands know more about what's happening than Rex or his 27 coaches or the players on the field. Paying attention to details takes time and work. Leadership via personality is a lazy or incompetent man's only option. I prefer the professorial type leader. Levy over Ditka. Obama over Trump. But, Rex was fun until his flaws caught up with him and cost the team wins. -
Sour Sal Maiorana Strikes Again...

It is obvious that any new HC would want some say over the QB position. Benching TT for the last game and telling him nothing about his future is 100% compatible with giving the soon to be hired HC a chance to form his own opinion. That chance to weigh in was likely a critical part of the HC recruiting process. I do not see the need to read any more into than that. -
My Tavern on the Tracks review from the day my wife and I spent there, 12/14/2014, Bills v. Packers. "Tavern on the Tracks it was. All those recommendations were spot on. I won their halftime trivia a got a T shirt, met folks from Geneseo, Clarence, Rochester and Jamestown. The Bills won and I spent less than $40 for my wife and I to eat and drink for 6+ hours. Oh yeah, and the Bills won!" It was a great day.
-
This is true but an exaggerated truth. I think TT's two best games were against Seattle and the home Miami game. We all know the other issues involved in those losses. He played great in those games and the losses tend to obscure that fact. The coaching and defense have to hold up their performance to give a QB a chance to make a difference. Being great in a loss does nothing to help to define a QB as a difference maker. TT did not let the team down in those losses.
-
Bills call a pass play. TT holds the ball, scrambles around,(as he is capable of doing) and either takes a sack or gains some positive rush yards, maybe a first down or even more. Neither of these outcomes count as a "pass attempt." I would guess that TT, as a % of pass plays called, would have amongst the highest rates of "no throws." This is may not be a bad thing if it's because of his running talent and being "ball secure." So, as to the OP, I am unconvinced as to the point.

patriot bride asked a question

Players that stick around after their careers are more likley to have married local women and once the kids start coming, the bonds of family are tough to break. Plus. their celebrity status means more in this market than the larger ones and it does create more opportunities (I am speaking financial here.) Summers are great and the traffic is never too bad realtive to other areas. I doubt the bachelor types or the guys that met their wives elsewhere are as likely to stay. -
Two in the family section. My 78 year old mother and her 82 year old sister get their choice of a game. They had a great time last year and would like to go a game every year for as long as they still can. They especially enjoyed the section which was well behaved. Sadly, this has not always been true of other games and stadium locations. This year I paid extra for the padded seat cushions for them to sit on. I told them it was because they were candy asses. They laughed. I sit with my brother one section over.

Here is the ESPN Sport Science video for Ragland. It says Navarro Bowman is a best comparison. Maybe this was posted here when the Bills drafted him and I missed it but nothing about it suggests slow. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=15275069

Pegula Dog on the loose, offering reward(update FOUND)

Yoshi went rogue. Get the Buffalo News on the story. -
This is my answer. Will he ever be one man short on the field and after a TV timeout and have neither he nor his coaching staff nor the 10 men on the field not know it? Will his field goal unit ever attempt a kick with the ball marked ready for play with only 8 seconds on the play clock and have similar teamwide cluelessness? Will he have a system for replay review decisions that involves anything more than someone's gut instinct? Will players constantly be unaware of their assignments or even whether they should be on the field or not? Would he punt on 4th and 2 with 4 minutes to go in OT of a game where a tie eliminates his team from the playoffs? Will he make good use of time and resources to prepare his team to perform well in games? We'll see but my guess is he will pay attention to details like this either personally or by delegating responsibilies to the players and/or assistant coaches and holding them accountable.

Sixth roung picks that cause problems in the locker room do not last long in the NFL no matter what their last name is. Take a chance on a QB that scored Sport Science's highest grade in 6 years, put 40+ points on Alabama twice, won a NJCCA championship, lead his team to wins over Alabama, Auburn and LSU in the same season for the first time ever and lead Ol' Miss' to their first Sugar Bowl championship in nearly five decades. Near as I can tell, he is way more Victor Franco than AJ Maggot.

There is a difference between 2014 and post chemo 2016 tape, imo. The Clemson game last year was closer to full recovery. He claimed in has letter that he was @ 18% body fat to start last year and is at 7% now. Robb Riddick had a couple of great seaons as a 3rd down shotgun back and short yardage/goal line specialist. He had a punishing running style that agressively struck would be tacklers. He was probably closer to 200 lbs. I see Conner as being great in that role but @ 233 lbs.. I would bet he shows well as a blocker in much of the Peterman highlight tape.
-
True. When the Pats signed TD Mike to the offer sheet, I started a thread titled "If the Bills lose Touchdown Mike...." and then made the case for drafting Conner. I think he'd be great value in the 4th or later as most sites have slotted him. At some point the Mods closed all threads that mentioned Gillislee in the title other than the one with 100+ pages. This has to be an NFL message board record for pages devoted to a backup RB, btw. I think Conner is a special player that remarkable things in his Pitt career. He will be a good pro, imo. A called him a 233 lb. Robb Riddick, who is one of my favorites.
-
Just curious why you omit James Conner from this. A copy/paste job from my closed thread: then draft this guy........ http://www.nfl.com/v...es-James-Conner He is complementary to Shady. Great at short yardage/goal line and at blitz pickup which are not McCoy's strengths. His personal story makes for a unique lockeroom presence. He oozes "accountability" out his pores, you won't need to sell him on it. Coming back to practice and play months away from an ACL tear and during chemotherapy treatments is a huge + in my view. He's from Erie, Pa which is in the heart of the Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh triangle. This buys the Bills some extra credibility there which is a nice side benefit. He patterns his running style after Marshawn Lynch. I see him as a 232 lb. version of Robb Riddick, who is one of my all time favorites.

I don't think Spicer knows who Gronk is. No look of recognition there. -
If the Bills lose Touchdown Mike.............
JESSEFEFFER replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that the offer has been extended, I think it unlikley the Bills will match. I am just thinking that they have a dollar value to the position and I don't know if they are willing to exceed it much. FWIW, most draft sites have Conner as a day 3 pick, 4th-5th round. I think he would complement McCoy nicely in that his strengths match McCoy's weaknesses. Being a Pitt guy, maybe DW has more insight into his career and has him higher on the Bill's draft board than others do. -
ESPN's Sport Science gave him the highest overall score of any QB in the last 6 years. He got perfect scores on their accuracy test from both 10 and 15 yards, which was the first time it had ever happened. His on field actions and emotions seem right. I think only a mental health professional could unwind his off field behavior. Being tabbed as a child prodigy can do strange things to a developing mind. It must be tough to have to constantly try to justify the hype. I wish him success wherever his football career takes him. Not so much due to his last name, but more because of where he is from.
