  1. Became a NYS trooper and was shot and killed responding to a domestic disturbance call this morning. He was a 2X NYS high school wrestling champion from Canisteo Greenwood and a DIII All American linebacker at Alfred U. He did look good in Red, White and Blue.
  2. Wyoming had 5 first or second team choices for the All MWC offense in 2016. Josh Allen was the only one of them who returned for 2017. They went from 207 to 109 ypg rushing and 4.6 to 3.2 ypc. I think his 2017 targets caught the ball well enough but offered little in terms of YAC. There was little going on for the Wyoming offfense that would boost Allen's production and probably left him facing an inordinate amount of 3rd and long situations.
  3. Nice idea as I was thinking something similar but more as an antidote to the poor Bills schedule. The Bulls play Army on 9/29 which has an TBD time and is a nice time of year for an alternative tailgate since the Bills schedule offers only 2 before Halloween. Joe Nichols is the performer. I realize the thinking here is for a combo/DH for out of town Bills/Bulls fans in for a weekend in mid September which may be a better idea. These guys are going to make a run for a MAC title and a bowl game, I think. Phil Steele's preview is out soon and I bet that publication will like them based on who returns and the nature of their losses last year. I think this needs to be revived in early July at the time for ticket purchases. I would be generally interested in the idea but the # of tickets I would want is not knowable. Also, are the sideline upperdecks consdered GA? Those are not bad seats considering the problem created by the track.
  4. This is a story theme more geared to the rest of the NFL market. What is obvious to us is mostly ignored by everyone else. This sets the narrative that its almost impossible for the Bills to be successful over the next 5 years without being right about these two picks. That sounds right to me.
  5. Very memorable game. My wife and I were visiting the Charlotte area in consideration of a possible move there so I could not attend but................. we were able to watch the game at The Tavern on the Tracks, a Bill's Backer Bar in dowtown. This was a great way to watch a game when you're 652 miles from the action. Most memorable play as previously mentioned: Wile E Coyote Fake Punt So much to discuss here that it's a play that has been brought up semi regularly over the last 20 years and it seems like it was due for reflectiion once again.
  6. Cordy Glenn was so little of a factor last year that he could hardly be considered a loss to this year's team.
  7. All seats can be good or bad for one reason or another. Some might not want to or can't stand so much so they should stay out of the lower bowl. Some might resent the fan behavior in the endzones and prefer the family sections. The upper decks give a great view of the passing game and ball spots but maybe bring binoculars.. Lower level gets you closer to the players during pregame warmup and the game but those TV cameras must be an irritant to some of those views. If you are in the tunnel end, you can see the comings and goings of the players/coaches/alumni etc. and have a possibly great view of a key TD. The addition of two more Jumbotrons means you can always have access to the important replays no matter where you sit. Conventional thinking was that more scoring occurred at the tunnel end due to the prevailing westerly wind but I am not so sure if that is true anymore after the stadium modifications, if it ever was. Depending on the time of year, being in the direct sunlight vs. not could be an issue either good or bad.
  8. The Daboll connection would appear to be a key to a roster spot. I did not know Foster was a 5 star recruit from Pa. Daboll probably has a very good idea of what he could do in the NFL and why his college career was less than what it could have been.
  9. I would maintain that is impossible to isolate a QB's performance from the offense that surrounds him based solely on numbers. Production numbers always need context. The most telling is the slip in ypa which is mostly connected to the players that left Wyoming's offense after the 2016 season. If Allen had a similar year in 2017, I doubt the Bills could have drafted him at #7. Scouts can attempt to put that in context by film review in conjunction with talking to his coaches. PFF can't do that. The numbers say he got "worse" and the context might suggest that he improved.
  10. The talent level argument is more about how often his teammates are able to win their matchups. Do they beat coverage, get YAC, hold up in pass protection, sustain blocks and open holes for the running game? The 2016 offense had five guys (including Allen) that were 1st or 2nd team ALL MWC and the 2017 offense had none. The run game suffered so play action was less effective and the protection failed at a high rate where Allen was forced to move from his designed spot more often. The receivers he had seemed to catch the ball decently but were nothing special after the catch. Less effective run game = less play action success = more 3rd and long situations = more pass protection breakdowns = less impressive QB stats.
  11. Explains everything. I thought maybe you were a retiree without any other hobby, Those Rockpile Reviews you put together seem like they require considereable free time.
  12. I don't think jokes are in order. Could be another Justin Strzelczyk situation in the making. Many of Richie's teammates have vouched for him over the years in instances where they could have stayed silent or done the opposite.
  13. Most have forgotten that the kick was on FIRST DOWN as you said, so it's 100% on Wade. No one leaves time on the clock. RJ lost his shoe and maybe Wade panicked but the FG should have been the last play. Also, the Bills o-line had multiple backups playing and it should have been a great, grind it out road win for the Bills. Sigh.
  14. I would be curious about the number of snaps each played. That may tell the story.
  15. Yes. There's a thread about the NFL's interest in Johnson. Jackson, and Hodge where this idea was discussed. Crappy Bills home schedule could mean a boost in UB attendance. It makes sense to me anyways. UB should get creative and try to market their team to Bills fans looking to enjoy some fall football while the weather is still top notch.
  16. With 6 home games before November vs. 2 for the Bills, it may make some sense for a concerted effort for local Bills' fans to establish more of an enthusiastic presence and get their gameday fix. The Bulls will be good this year and likely be chosen for a bowl game, maybe against a power 5 team. The crappy schedule that the NFL gave the Bills could work out for the Bulls benefit.
  17. I did find this from PFF: "Anthony Johnson, Buffalo, 90.2 overall grade: Johnson posted the highest grade in next year’s draft class while ranking fifth in the nation with 599 yards on deep passes and forcing an impressive 18 missed tackles on his 77 catches." So maybe that ranking wasn't too outlandish. If he runs sub 4.5 it may be a legit prediction. NFL Draft Scout has Hodge as the #3 ILB. He is only 6 ft so cue the London Fletcher comparisons. http://draftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=1020780&draftyear=2019&genpos=ILB
  18. May be the result of some regional bias. Chris Trapasso is WNY native and former editor of Buffalo Rumblings. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose. These are good players that are worthy of some publicity that would otherwise be off the radar. If he is right about one of these he looks good. They probably were part of UB's Pro day and got good numbers there. I searched and could not find anything for them. I doubt they are really ranked that high now but they could grade much higher after the 2018 season.
  19. Do a search on "Chuck Pollock and Terry Pegula."
  20. 1) Watching his Senior Bowl throws vs. throwing to his Wyoming guys looks way different. Hardly any YAC from any of the latter. Lots of comeback and stop routes. They caught the ball OK but they were not much of any threats after the catch. Give him a go and get it, NFL calibre, physical stud of a receiver and his throws looked much better. 2) The best player Wyoming had with the ball in his hands and running in traffic was Josh Allen. Whether breaking tackles or making guys miss, he was about the only one I saw in the videos able to provide it within their passing game. 3) With protection issues and receivers not capable of winning a 50/50 ball, you see lots of designed rollouts and throws underneath the coverage. 4) Check out UB's Jackson/Johnson combination, either last year or this. Clearly, Wyoming had no option of the sort to pair with Allen. It makes a big difference to the perception of how good a QB may be. 5) I know a guy that claims the only reason he got asked about what he wanted for Father's Day or his birthday was so his family wouldn't accidently give him something he really wanted. I didn't want Allen based on the chatter but this guy definitely has some tools. 6) When he throws a pick, he seems to looking to make the tackle with an attitude. 7) Looks like he is a good threat for a QB sneak in short yardage/goal line. Can''t remember the last guy the Bills had that was.
  21. If he grew up in Beaver Falls, PA or anywhere else, no one cares even though his name is Kelly. Because his last name is Kelly AND he grew up on GI AND played at St Joe's AND was a 4X, record setting P P and K winner AND was a 4 star recruit to Clemson AND had many well publicized screwups along the way, WNYers paid attention to his Ol' Miss career. Even my 83 year old aunt was asking me when and where their games were to be played. He was fun to watch and their games were very entertaining. The fans and players there seemed to take to him. I believe he actually finished his degree and pretty much behaved himself there. I did not and do not want him here. There is too much politics involved in an NFL QB roster as it is. Having him on the Bills' roster would make it worse. His bad behavior has really brought him alot of bad publicity, almost cost him a college career and definitely cost him draft status and money. He may have been kicked around enough to have learned something. Time will tell. He is talented enough to succeed and is a story worth following.
  22. There is no way they could be thinking that as of now. Knee and wrist injuries left Chad unable to show much in 2017. They probably will get a QB there because they won't expect to be drafting there again soon. Contrary to Promo's take, I think there is a very good chance that he shows well this spring and fall. He is very athletic, has elite arm talent and makes surprisingly good decisions with the ball while playing his fear none style. The Broncos may be in the mood for a QB like that. Personality wise, I do not think he is dumb so much as emotionally undeveloped. Maybe permanently so. Most ultracompetitive people are jerks compared to the rest of us. They are fun to watch on the field but often come up short off of it. The good news is that this trait can work well for a QB in the NFL. Do you want your leader to say "Nah, I won't go get my brother out from the bottom of that pile at the other team's bench because it's a bad career move."? All reports are that he seemed well liked at Ol' Miss by fans and teammates and he did things there no other QB had. They were sick of losing to 'Bama, LSU and Auburn every year. I do not think Chad's personality flaws are much different than say his Uncle Jim or Brett Favre. He is just more exposed in the age of social media.
  23. A sack avoided in the first 2.5 seconds of the play was often due to Tyrod (so he made them look good) and sacks taken much longer than that were often due to Tyrod (not getting the ball out and making them look bad.) Therefore, as sack statistics go, probably trending toward a wash.
  24. Early on in his Bills tenure, I suggested that TT could be Mike Vick with better pocket awareness and ball security. I think this is what he has shown. He does not take the brutal hits that are typical of most QBs that hold the ball like he does and he never shows signs of panic. His game never craters so even on his worst days, the Bills still have a chance. Most QBs' worst days will give their teams no chance at all. None of these traits flash in an eyepleasing manner. So Schopp is correct that TT's QB play is under appreciated. On a play to play basis, it's a fine line between patience and indecisiveness but his body of work suggests that he is amongst the most patient QBs in the league.
