  1. I was convinced she'd get more than 1 because that's how I think the world works. As for the sexist comments, most people on TV either local or national, have to pass a visual appearance threshold. Ugly people are the most discriminated minority group in our society and it's not even close.
  2. I could be wrong but Robb seemed to show up about the time Ryan Lewis made the roster. I was actually hoping there was an actual Robb connection as he is one of my all time favorite Bills.
  3. I am in favor of BPA which odds seem to suggest will be a defender. If so, I'd want them to get the guy that can make the biggest impact on 3rd down and red zone situations. I'd like it if they had a choice between Oliver and Sweat (or some of the other edge players) and then we'd know which they preferred, because I am very curious about what their thinking would be and that's the only way to know. The more QBs that make it to the top 10 the more likely it would be.
  4. It was the defense that really disliked him. Talley is another that felt that way. I think Hank told him he couldn't play in so many words and he did not take to the criticism well. I don't know that I ever heard an offensive guy say anything bad about him so maybe he did not interact with them much. It's one thing to challenge your team but it's another to loose their respect and then openly mock you. I remember his son Chuck played at OP high school before going on to Michigan State where Hank had played. Lots of the Bullough family have played there since.
  5. Robb is one of may all time favorites. I remember Kelly complaining about the "drop" afterward. He had 7 catches for 50 yards that game but catching a ball above your head with an arm cast where you can't trap it with your body is near impossible. I hope Robb is ok. The way he played he'd be a prime CTE candidate.
  6. A front line defender with 3rd down impact. Is that Oliver or Sweat/Burns/Gary/etc.? That is the primary reason that takeaway and redzone numbers were not a better and are what was truly lacking from the 2018 defense. As for the rest: TE=OT>WR>RB>DT>LB>CB I base this on his is based on the roster currently lacks and the probablity that a rookie could have for serious playing time in 2019.
  7. Not without precedent though. Many recent examples of teams which had a string of poor records that become good real fast with a young QB on a rookie deal. Seahawks, Rams and Eagles come to mind. This can happen fast. Bears are close. Browns are looking promising. Beane is trying to make it happen here.
  8. I can agree with most all of that. It would be fun to watch that happen. I am not sure about Vick being a better runner aside from speed. Josh is tougher to bring down including a nasty stiff arm (don't do that with your right hand Josh!) and I always thought of Vick as fumbler. When at Philly, I said that he was a combination of indecisive and unaware and often trapped and blindsided in the pocket. I don't know what his actual ball security numbers are for his career but I think it to be extreme toward the negative.
  9. I don't know what methodology any of them utilize but if they think that "average time to throw" is a metric of o-line blocking efficiency (and some do) then they did not actually watch any 2018 Bills games.
  10. I haven't seen video on most of these guys but I did like what I saw of David Montgomery of Iowa State. At 5''10", 222 lbs. he's like a bowling ball with good vision and balance. By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst NFL Comparison Kareem Hunt Overview One of the safest runners in this draft with a desirable combination of size, vision, toughness and creativity. He runs with impressive calm and instincts in the midst of interior mayhem, weaving and battering his way through traffic. Smart teams will recognize his ability to create yardage for himself with his eyes, footwork, contact balance and power. Should alleviate concerns about his lack of explosiveness. Montgomery has a pro-ready game and Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) value as a good NFL starter.
  11. Wow, you're pretty good remembering stuff that I don't even remember posting but the Tannehill part seems wrong because I was never high on Tannehill. Although the argument may have been that EJ was on par with him (and Carr?) and did not warrant the permanent benching he got. But, yeah the case can be made that: 1) EJ's rookie year was in line with any of his QB peer group. EJs peer group for 2013 is Geno Smith , Mike Glennon, Tyler Wilson, Ryan Nassib . So he did as well as these guys? Yay? 2) Being pulled after going 2/2 in his 2nd year after just having their offense wrecked by JJ Watt was premature and unprecedented. 3) That Kyle Orton was not an improvement to the Bills offense in any measurable way. Didn't the offense actually move the ball with Orton in 2014? Orton had better completion percentage , QB ratings, and yards per attempt than EJ that year. 4) That EJ had the best performances in the 2015 preseason games but Tyrod was the choice from the get go and it did not matter. 5) That all of EJ's game appearances since then have been poor to middling. What any of that has to do with Chad Kelly is a mystery to me. The reason for original question was to point out you like lost cause or no cause QBs ? 1) Nay. See the peer group from the Allen/Wentz thread, page 2 by BuffaloHokie13. 31 rookie QBs from 2011 thru 2018. EJ is right in the middle. 3) Measurable is the wrong word. Meaningful is better. PPG or offensive ranking were pretty much the same pre and post EJ benching. No real reason to pull the plug on a 2nd year, 1st round QB after less than 20 career starts. What any of that has to do with Chad Kelly is a mystery to me. The reason for original question was to point out you like lost cause or no cause QBs. My answer to this is that EJ was not a lost cause in 2015 when Rex was taking over. Some predicted it but it wasn't so at that point, imo. His Bills career died in London. As far as Chad goes, his stock is about as low as could be. But, entering the 2018 OTAs and training camp, after having rehabbed knee and wrist surgeries and with only a 7th round pick having been invested in him, he managed to get very close to the starting job in Denver. He had a great preseason. Now he's got to work his way back up from the bottom of professional football and I suggest it would be greatly beneficial for him to get some professional help before he attempts it. Andy Dufresne: Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Our country is built on redemption. Some believe in it and some don't.
  12. His name is Kelly, he grew up in WNY and we have been hearing and seeing reports on him since he was a P, P and K participant at the then Ralph. His St Joes stint, P, P and K competitions, being a 4 star recruit to Clemson, a participant at the UA allstar game, and of course all the times he he got in trouble were all reported on in the WNY media market. If any of this had happened in other other media pond it would not have caused a ripple here.

  14. I do not go out of my way to bash the man. The people at Ol' Miss felt connected to him and believe in his talent and want him to succeed. Some like to say it's because his lst name is Kelly that we even mention him. I say that if he grew up in East Brady or anywhere else other than WNY we wouldn't pay him any attention either. I think he is a very athletic and talented QB, others want to debate that, but his fundamental problem is that his brain is missing the ability to say no to his worst social impulses whether under chemical influence or not. He may have "Fear None" on his arm but who he should really fear is Chad Kelly and the damage he has done to his own future. I hope he seeks some professional help before he seeks another shot at professional football.

  16. I do not have the same respect for passer rating as you. Avoid a sack, escape the pocket and throw the ball away? A good play that hurts passer rating. Score a TD on a sneak or a 15+ yard scramble where several tackles are broke? Good/great plays that passer rating does not care about. Take a sack by holding the ball too long or running out-of-bounds behind the line? Bad plays that passer rating does not measure. Failing to secure the ball while being hit and fumble? Another bad play ignored by passer rating. Throw and complete a pass for 6 yards on 3rd and 11? Inconsequential but passer rating loves it and gives it a 92. I do not think Josh will ever max out on passer rating. He will tend to score more TDs running than most because he is good at it and it's low hanging fruit, avoid sacks, and throw to the sticks on 3rd down. Thus, passing TD% is lower and completion % is lower. I tend to respect tQBR more because it tries to evaluate every play in it's context but it is a mystery how Allen got a tQBR of 19.4 for the game vs. the Lions (passer rating 89.3) where Stafford got an 83.3(106.7) in a game won by the Bills 14-13. That is a head scratcher and good counter evidence for those that do not like it.
  17. i think it already was illegal to make that block while heading back toward the line-of-scrimmage but that may not be true. We need to see the NFL video of legal blocks of a trailing defender although if the block is to the chest I do not know how it can be argued that the hit was "blindside." Here's one brought to my mind: Robert Woods on Poszlusny . Some discussion at the time that the hit needed to be low to be a "peelback block penalty" which it definitely was not. We always got the ""block made while heading toward the LOS" from game broadcasts but it would not surprise me if they got the rule wrong. It will probably be just another poorly designed rule that brings me to anger every time the officials misapply it. Then there's this one from last year: Tre White Prevents First Down
  18. I am more concerned with the # of home games before November vs. after Thanksgiving. There's been a trend over the last few years and it's more ikely to be the result of some bias if it happens again this year.
  19. And I am suggesting that DL/Edge is the one position option where the number of elite players available, the #9 pick and the BPA mantra all align.
  20. May be true but if they are convinced they will have an option to take Burns, Sweat, Oliver or some other DL/Edge player that drops to 9 then it makes sense not to prioritize this need in FA. The numbers suggest that they will get their choice of a few and every QB pushed up into the top of the draft will give them even more from which to choose.
  21. I would suspect the same. They probably needed resolution to his legal status before even giving him a look. I think he spent some time with the Birmingham team if I inferred correctly from Twitter.
  22. Doug Flutie. Lagging sales of luxury suites and Ralph Wilson's ultimatum (maybe only a phony one--but we really do not know) had the franchise here in doubt. Flutie as a starting QB injected energy into the team and spurred demand for luxury suites and they were able to hit the threshold (it was $9 million--maybe?) Anyways, that's what is deposited in my memory bank which often has insufficient funds, much like my other bank accounts. Anyways, enthusiasm for the franchise was waning at a critical juncture in franchise history and Flutie was the dose of prednisone they needed at the time.
  23. Sal is doing a great job. He had almost 30 minutes of live coverage of Tyree's throwing session. I think Palmer was running it but maybe it was UB's QB coach but Palmer is there as Sal got some comments from him. Palmer will get the reputation for putting extra money in draft QB's accounts. Tyree looked good.
  24. UB center James O'Hagan looks like a McDermott kind of guy: State Champion It's kind of a tradition to run and jump into your coaches arms after a title win. But, at 285, maybe you should think twice and then decide it might be a bad idea. Some more background
  25. UB Pro Day today. Sal Capaccio will be covering it. I have always wanted to know more about what happened there than what was ever reported. Some possible story lines: Tyree Jackson worked with Jordan Palmer in January, at least, while Josh Allen was there too. Does Palmer show up to run Tyree's throwing session and he run it? I think he did that for JA last year. Is Josh there too? Any other current Bills players? Who does Tyree throw to? AJ would make sense but who else? The UB guys were working at STASportsPerformance as was Naaman Roosevelt. I saw a nice group picture of them taken there all giving the "Horns Up!" hand gesture. Might Naaman might run some routes for Tyree? If not, who else runs them aside from AJ? Hodge, O'Hagan, Harris, Lewis were other NFL worthy UB players that were not combine invitees. This is big for them as well as AJ who did not run the 40 at the combine due to an ankle issue. The test numbers for these guys are huge and I want to know their test results. Numbers, I want numbers. Not just for these guys but anyone else that tests. I think other players can be tested who are not draft eligible this year but on whom scouts might want to do some preliminary work. Also, players for other regional schools or from WNY will be there, like Dolegala. I'd like to know who they are and how they test. How many teams are represented there and who is sent? Which Bills FO, scouts or coaches are present? Also, who seems most in charge of the event, Bills/NFL people or UB people? I think Sal has a chance to do a better job today than what we usually get from other sources.
